Lucifer's Parable

To hell for reasons uncertain,
I saw the devil 'fore he saw me
Like a window's downfallen curtain,
I saw more than I was meant to see

Lifely gone in dying bleak
Softly drawn to his mystique
Honest strong but child weak,
a tear upon his colored cheek

So quickly scowls
return to face
when truth requests to not be seen
So quickly growls, his eyes embraced
all the fear I had in me

But 'fore he spoke a single word
what millions damned had surely heard,
I asked with words so soft and meek
why he teared upon his cheek

Bold as I had often been,
audaciousness had lost control
Cold as I had ever been,
the fire seeped into my soul
"Is your job extremely grim?
Are you burdened? Are you tolled?"
He surprised me with sincerity
spoken to my very soul

"I once was God's chosen one
by His side I'd always be
Now my soul's a frozen one
broke inside the soul of me"

I said "You chose to live that way.
You thought that you were high
and greater than the God above-
than God above us in the sky"

He told me "True that's what I do
but that's not why I cry
My choice's true- for God I'd do
anything- as I abide

God made me choose, to not refuse
He only had to ask
I'm overdue- I'd never do
more than Jesus has

To do my part with all my heart,
I would have to die
To live a life so piously,
I would stray from Holy side"

"So what", I say, "the Bible may
be writings of a lie?"
He answered me convincingly-
looking in my eye

He said to me so I may see
as if to prophecy
The truth I seek is "
men are weak
and truth's the only lie

People never comprehend
what's beyond their eyes
So now I'm here in all their sin
He needed one as I

He needed me conceitedly
to humble all the meek
So now I'm here deceitedly
with a tear upon my cheek

My dying wish to God above
was to please remember me
And for Him to know I love Him so
right now and endlessly

People think it's all about
Good and Evil but
They never seem to ever see
Their eyes are often shut

It's more of what's within
than what you are without
Death to make you live again
is what it's all about

So now I try to hold a tear
as for my God I fell
Thank you for a storied ear,
Now Welcome To Your Hell"

bravo a million kudos over and over...this piece brings to mind all the vagueness and mind boggling wonder of the parallel universe of spiritual teachings of my youth...the forces that reak havoc within, the struggle, the tug of war.  Thanks for the intensity.

I realy like it, however, i do have to say that it kinda reminds me of Dante in a way,but a lot shorter and a hell of a lot easier to understand BRAVO!

A Legend in my Own Mind

I find my religion and my beliefs
called to account
in stark relief
Never so plainly was represented
such simple logic
as you've presented
My eyes opened in a simple penning
your accusations leave
my stable faith spinning

So sad the highest Kudos are only two...

Ok, this is scary...

Yahoo news...

The jist of it, they have found texts that indicate Judas was the desciple closest to Jesus, and was asked by Jesus to betray him so that he could complete his task...

I like the style of the poem, although I do agree with one of the other people that parts of the poem are a bit forced...I like what you are trying to do with the poem though. however I have to question the theology behind it...it is just me being a picky Christian (haha) but I feel as though Satan was not merely a pawn of God, used to bring about sin and therefore the salvation of man through Christ.

It reminds me of "Paradise Lost", Satan is a feeling, well-rounded character. I really like the representation.

Jon/Charlie - Someone mentioned this is like reading Dante, only easier.  That's the point. This is more accessible to the reader. Many forget the Devil (The Reviler) is/was a Fallen Angel, in fact, one of God's most dearly loved Sons of Heaven. Which makes his Fall all the more tragic, as you so nicely illuminate.  This is a very old-fashioned writing style; I think that is one of the prime reasons I like it so much.

This poem I really like. Alot of thought wen't in'to this. . Once an angel that stood by Gods side only to be cast out from the rest. Now left to take the souls of those who could not measure up such as his. Very insightful!!!  Enjoyed reading it!!!♥Colleen

The Capricorn that I am always seems to tail up with the letter three. Hmmmm I wonder why said I. :} I enjoyed this poem by saying I see I am not the only one who has thoughts like you.

My favorite lines from your writes

People never comprehend
what's beyond their eyes
So now I'm here in all their sin
He needed one as I

Jon, this is beyond awesome and opens one up to ask the question:

What's NOT of God? Brings childhood teaching into new light...

"Now Welcome To Your Hell" Don't many of us choose to live there daily.

This is, by far, the most thought provoking of your efforts.
I was captivated by it.
I believe you know full well my viewpoint relative to this subject, but it is for each of us to find the truth within ourselves within Christ.
Excellent work.
In Him,

Sympathy for the Devil?
I am afraid I haven't any
For it was NOT in servitude that he came to this earth
it was his CHOICE...
made in disobedience and arrogance
just like the millions throughout history...
we humans
each and all of us
doomed to suffer the wages of sin...
do not be fooled by the "tear upon his cheek"
underneath there is nothing more
than a sadistic and hellish grin
for it is by deception...
manipulation
that our eyes are turned away
from our Father
our Lord and Savior
this is his ultimate goal...
that NONE of us should find the way
into Heaven
for he KNOWS he never shall again
arrogance...
ignorance...
envy and pride
these ALONE are the things we must attribute
to him
not sympathy or compassion
for none of these would he grant to you
loathing and hatred
an eternity in torment
this is what he would condemn you to
but...
do not be so foolish as to think
HE is the cause of your downfall
my friend
for just as it with each of us
so it was with him...
the choice alone is
YOURS
it is not Lucifer who denies the truth
which you by grace have been given
it is YOU...
YOUR pride
YOUR arrogance
YOUR denial of Christ and Heaven
Satan was simply the first
of all creation to so choose
but it WAS his CHOICE...
and for eternity he shall lose
the grace
which at time's conception
was granted to him...
above all creation
beauty and power
the likes of which shall never again be seen
 nor heard
all because of his arrogance
and rejection of the WORD...
so weep not for the father of all lies
nor his minions
but in humble acceptance of the truth
find salvation
find forgiveness
for it is Jesus who sacrificed ALL
not Lucifer...
THIS IS THE TRUTH

for each and every soul upon this earth
for me...
and for you
