The Wishing Well Inside of Me

Like a wishing well that's dried,
looted, and thieved;
I've got nothing to show
but a couple of smiles

-I'm just a couple of pennies
the thieves forgot to steal-

I'm a martyr in hell that's died,
refuted, believed…
Either way,
I've got nowhere to go for a while

-and if I had to do it all over again,
it would be against my will-

To steal
something so fragile should be a crime,
but I'm the one here…
I'm the one left
with nothing inside

Dried, thieved, and emptied
with wishes that lied

But I'd still do it all over again
even though
it would be against my will…

-I'm just a couple of pennies
the thieves forgot to steal-

really awesome

To steal
something so fragile should be a crime,
but I'm the one here…
I'm the one left
with nothing inside

Dried, thieved, and emptied
with wishes that lied

But I'd still do it all over again
even though
it would be against my will…

so sad & yet so good

push past pathways, submerged, thru sensitive eyes

this is pretty clever, while saddening at the same time. It's yet another view into your creative mind at work. :-)

Good one! Enjoyed :) - A couple of smiles is all you need! A spirit that can still smile after such violation, is a strong spirit indeed!

Yeah, 23 is my favorite number, and I can totally relate to this poem.

"and if I had to do it all over again,
it would be against my will"

That's a great line!
