JANE
Full Name: Jane
Status: Vampire
Group: Volturi Coven
Date of Birth: Unknown
Date of Transformation: Unknown but at a young age
Special Abilities: Ability to inflict debilitating pain with her thoughts

“This may hurt just a little.”

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION:
Jane is a high ranking member of the Volturi Guard. The Volturi were waiting to change her and her brother Alec until she was older, but humans—believing her and her brother to be witches—tried to burn them at the stake, which forced Aro to act while the twins were little more than children. Jane’s experience with the pain of burning alive shaped her into a potent weapon – she developed the ability to inflict immense pain on others with only a look.

VOLTURI
1) The Volturi include: Aro, Caius, and Marcus as the leaders, and then Jane, Alec, Demetri, Felix, Heidi, and several other unnamed members of the guard.
2) The Volturi are similar to a ruling body, and protect the secret of vampires by wiping out any “problems” as vampire law defines.
3) The Volturi live in an ancient Tuscan city called “Volterra”.
4) Aro and Jane’s powers do not work on Bella.

Director Chris Weitz on the Volturi --
"No matter how strange one of the characters is in a work of fantasy, I think you have to approach them as people and then so you start to think, 'They've been around for 2,000 years. How would they interact with one another?' The conclusion was that after 2,000 years you'd probably be more than mildly insane. No matter how cultured or gracious you appear on the surface. And I think that's what Michael Sheen managed to portray as Aro, the head of the Volturi -- on the surface he's terribly gracious, warm, a wonderful host and at the same time he's lethal and frightening. It's also what Dakota Fanning conveys as Jane. She's innocent looking in appearance but she's absolutely deadly. The first thing I wanted to do was put them in a setting that wasn't Dracula's castle. There have been so many vampire movies and werewolf movies and horror movies where everything has been dark and dreary. Instead, their headquarters is surprisingly light and crisp. And the characters that they play have a kind of a tactile reality to them in spite of how bizarre their situation is really. The whole point is not to leave Forks, Washington where everything has really been quite realistic and then suddenly go to a location that completely throws you out of the movie. And the set although it's huge and grand and magnificent actually feels like a real place."

dakota fanning is one of the most talented younger actresses there. dare: show me someone that could play the part better. give her a chance; be more open-minded.

I agree. My name actually is Jane. and because of that i was automatically drawn to the character. when i hurd that Dakota was going to play Jane, i was so disapointed. though seeing her is reashring, and based on her repituar, she is much better than the rest of the cast (which in my opinion absolutly sucks). Hopefully the director will direct her well into keeping Jane an amazing character in the volturi coven

I have to say, I adore the whole cast of the Twilight Saga, and I agree they are extremely good actors and actresses but Dakota Fanning is one of the most talented young actresses around today. She's been in many different genres of movie from childrens movies to horror movies, and horror is the hardest genre to act in and I don't think she gets enough credit. I adore the Twilight books and now I'm really excited to see how it looks on the big screen. =)

Your completely wrong, and your obviously one of those young girls who's life revolves around wishing you were with a fictional character, which concludes that you would have the capacity to know what true talent is :)

Yea. Stephanie said on her website that if they could figure out a way to portray Renesme, then Breaking Dawn would have to be in two parts since its so much longer than the other books. I think its pretty cool actually. Gives us 4 more movies to look forward to! .. I just hope they don't schedule the two parts release dates too far apart or any of the original actors are dropped again...UGH! That would SUCK! (heh...get it. "Suck") lol. Im lame. I know! ..

see...n i read that they may not do breaking dawn because they their audience is more pg and BD is too bloody to keep it pg.  i hope they do make it because more happens in BD then any of the other books.  and i dont see how the could just stop it at eclipse.

The books are not PG. Therefore if the kiddies cannot read the book, they should not be seeing the movie. End of story. I've been waiting on this movie since I read twilight almost 2 years ago. November is too far away. I feel Dakota will bring alot to the movie and am looking forward to seeing her in action. She is playing in the Pat Benetar movie with Kristen Stewart as well.

Funny, a friend of mine mentioned Dakota possibly being in New Moon back in December last year, and I immediately thought she'd be playing Jane & that it would be perfect casting.  I don't see how anyone could doubt the choice to cast her... I definitely can't think of anyone who'd be a better fit.

Dakota Fanning is the one and only actress who has retained her star quality and displayed time and again that she will endure from very early, 4 year old acting, through the awkward tween phase when most child stars become obsolete...She is an ACTRESS, who stands alone and doesn't falter, unlike say the Olsen twins, who became a frantic money machine with the label on their clothes-movies-etc being the selling point, not the acting. I would say that she is the closest thing to Drew Barrymore who started with her first MAJOR movie as Gertie in ET...Dakota, as well as Drew, have both audience appeal due to familiarity as well as being attractive, and both are and have alwas have been determined to better themselves as artists and reach higher for each oppportunity. I see these two as very similar, and Dakota Fanning is wise beyond her years, strikes me as extremely level-headed about her career at an age when Drew was the most confused (but look at her now!) so she has an advantage. Look at them as humans who are trying to amke the best of what and who they are, not as entertainment only, something to use as you swim in the shallow end making uneducated judgements about things you are barely informed on. That's my opinion, only mine; and ABSOLUTELY NOT meant to insult anyone who had posted here, just trying to get those who are open to pause briefly to pt their words into toughtful perspective. *;)

Check out the secret life of bees, w/Alicia Keyes, Queen Latifah, and an altogether amazing cast...This movie is emotionally jarrinng in places, a salve for the soul in others. There is a lot of subdued racial tension but it's not the ONLY theme of the movie - it's just the era when the movie was set and those things are inescapable in the deep south...The scenery is breathtaking in again a subdued, soothing way, Dakota plays her role with an understated elegance and you will find yourself having a lot to think about when the credits roll and you start to absorb and process everything you've just watched. It's a movie that has no overplayed themes, with a general feel oov something creative and new, but also reminiscent of The Color Purple, Fried Green Tomatoes, and even a bit of the Secret Garden. It's on the new release shelves at movie stores, and not to be missed. I respect Dakota Fanning very much as an actress after seeing this because it's rare to see an awesome child star stay the course and not go into hiding until she's come out of the puberty cocoon. She's a brave young lady, with talent and class to match. *:)
