Yesterday, in the heat of LA, a bunch of Hollywood people and friends and family of Mark Wahlberg gathered around at the corner of Hollywood and Vine, to unveil the actor’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“I still can’t believe it,” Wahlberg said after the event, “I thought Will [Ferrell] was making a practical joke.”
‘The Other Guys’ co-star Will Ferrell was giving a funny speech, saying "I first became a fan of Mark's when I bought his workout video. And I love all your 'Bourne' movies." Also honoring Mark were his friends from HBO, with whom he works on producing shows such as ‘Entourage’ and ‘In Treatment.’ None of the ‘Entourage’ cast showed up though, neither did his famous brother Donnie (“He had better things to do,” Mark said and he probably meant his filming the new TV show, ‘Blue Bloods,’ in which he co-stars with Tom Selleck. Mark Wahlberg’s first big screen role came in ‘Renaissance Man’ (1994). Many people snickered at the idea of the has-been rapper thinking he could make it as an actor. From the get-go, he was proving them wrong. He blew them away in the controversial ‘The Basketball Diaries’ (1995) and chilled them in ‘Fear’ (1996), and then came ‘Boogie Nights’ (1997) which was probably his most recognizable role to date.
