The title of this blog is the gut reaction and the knee jerk feeling I get when I listen to religious high roller bible thumpers bash other people.

Because whether or not you "believe" in sin or want to specifically call it that, we're all sinners.  We all fall from grace.  None of us are perfect and even when we're good, solid, salt-of-the-earth people..... there's still fault there.  There's still imperfections.  There's still sin.

So, David Letterman had an affair.

As a wife it angers me.  As a human I shrug it off and assume he had his reasons.  Be they desire, lust, the want to flaunt his "power" as a celebrity over people, his need for variety, his wife wasn't givin' it up at home, or perhaps she cut off the love supply for her own reasons, or he's just flat out a seething pig..... who the hell cares?

Why do we stop in shock when someone who's famous screws up in a way that every day people do all the time?

I'm not talking about the CRAZY shit like using drugs that could choke a horse, or it being FRONT PAGE NEWS when a celebrity's dog dies......

It's disturbing to me what we expect from other people.  It BOTHERS me when people cite a celebrity as a "hero" only for their acting ability, or their ability to toss a ball.  I have people who have inspired me as a performer.

I absolutely LOVE how Christopher Titus takes things that are NOT FUNNY.... and makes them funny.  A dad who's an alcoholic and a suicidal mother?  into a joke?
Genius, man!
But he's not my HERO.
I don't look to him in awe, with eyes upward, ready to worship him.

Letterman acting like a typical man is not news to me because, um, hello? He's a man. Just a guy who screwed up.  Ah, but because he enters our home five nights a week we.... what... expect him to be "above" it?  NOT defending the Right To Cheat here.  I just can't figure out why people are freaking out about it.

Speaking strictly from a woman's stand point, I'd say a man who looks like Letterman would HAVE TO be famous to merit a mistress.  Who would want him otherwise? ha ha ha.... sorry. That was mean.  But damn.... all that money and he can't get some braces for those teeth??

I digress.....

Let's say, for argument's sake, I become famous.  Household name kind of deal.

The only press I'd worry about are people in my PAST speaking up to make a buck letting the world know what we did 15 + years ago.....
.... but what haven't I already confessed in my blog anyhow?

Someone attempting to extort money from Letterman because he had a momentary lapse of reason.... or SEVERAL, what ever the case is, is sickening.  The person attempting to bleed money from him..... I wonder how clean their life is?

Just.... pondering.....

Not knowing the situation there's no way to lay blame to either.  It's easy to just assume he was an ass for sleeping with someone.  I know people who have cheated, who've been the one cheated on, etc....  The reasons are rarely as cut and dry as some would like to assume.

I've never stepped out on Yeti, nor he on me, but I did cheat on a boyfriend YEARS ago.  We were living together at the time, and I slept with someone else.  Was it right? No.  Morally it was wrong.  But the reasons "why" felt right.  I'm not the type to do such things, but I was in a way driven to it.  One can only be neglected for so long before they seek out other arms.

And I don't know.... was he married at the time, or was someone trying to milk money from him simply because he had affairs at work?  I should probably research before "sounding off" but the backlash of people calling him a prick pissed me off.  And I don't even watch his show. ha!

I agree. If anything, I applaude Letterman for standing up, admitting he was wrong and not letting these assholes bleed any money from him. I can forgive a lot if someone has the ability to admit they are wrong and are working towards the right thing.

Different situation, but similar in the way John Travolta and his family stood up to the blackmailers concerning his son's death. Complete asshats there and I hope they throw the book at them.

I am SICKENED that anyone would attempt to get money from the Travoltas after losing a child. THAT is the lowest form of scum right there.

I didn't catch exactly when these indiscretions went down, after he got married or what.  I always liked Letterman, but I wasn't shocked or offended to discover he is a cheater.  I applaud him for doing a Mel Gibson/Ransom thing and just letting it all hang out.  Take that, tabloid journalism!

What chaps my ass is Jon Gosselin.  Granted I stopped watching the show when all hell broke loose with them, but seriously.  He is being petty.  I hope he gets incurable erectile dysfunction.

You know, I have mixed opinions about Jon.

He was never happy on the show.  His wife treated him like a dog.  His stepping in saying "NO more".
Someone had to.  Whether it's because he was dumped and now wants to pull the plug, I don't care.  I'm glad for those KIDS that its over.  The motivation behind it might be "Waaah.... I've been left out of the show's title" but.... good for those kids, man.  THEY have had enough.

I would've cheated on Kate too. He was totally whipped by her.  She took his balls a long time ago.

Yeah, he gets kicked from the show (which I've never seen) and suddenly he doesn't want his kids on tv. Less than a week ago he was filming the show with them on it and not a problem at all with the kids on the show.

It does seem rather double sided but like I said above....  Those kids need OUT of the spotlight.  They need to be forgotten by the world so they can attempt to have some NORMAL life without cameras documenting their parent's downfall.

I've never seen the show.  I'm not the least it interested in seeing the show.  I don't think kids shoud be in a position like that.  They deserve to have their lives be private.  That's right up there with putting tiny little girls in sexy outfits and parading them in front of people for pageants, when they should be playing in a sandbox or playing ball, or playing with their friends, not basing their worth on whether or not they win a beauty pageant!  SICK!

that is the first thing I thought practically when you said he had an affair, as mean as it sounds lol.

And yeah...it's ridiculous how we put celebrities on a pedestal. They're human too. They screw up just like the rest of us, but we act like it's a higher sin than if we did it. Ridiculous.

No greater example of how we "worship" celebrities is the Polanski situation.

He raped a 13 year old girl.
He should go to jail.
But a lot of his celebrity friends are saying he should be let go.
Really?
REALLY?
Directing movies exempts someone from being held accountable for drugging and raping a 13 year old child?
Sad.

whoa, hold up...I AM perfect and don't you forget it.

I love how he turned the tables on that guy and then had the nuts to tell the world about it....anybody else would have denied denied denied. I find your use of 'acting like a typical man' rather offensive. Most don't have the balls to do what he did so he's not typical at all ;)

I LOVED the TV show "Titus" but I don't think the world was ready for THAT kind of honest comedy.  I watched EVERY episode and was so PISSED when it was yanked.

He's been here in town performing but unfortunately/fortunately I've been at my own gigs and haven't been able to go see him.

Titus is one of the best EVER! I have seen him twice and the second time, he called me by name after the show when he was signing autographs.

I am a Letterman fan.  So, he's not perfect!!   I remember when Stephanie was getting a lot of air time.  Apparently, she was sharing a house with this guy who was a news producer.  The jerk read her diary and decided that he didn't want to work anymore, so contacted Letterman to get $2 million.  Letterman handled it perfectly.   His long time girlfriend/newly wed wife/ mother of their son Harry, also used to work on the show for him.   I hope they can work it out.  I really do.

NO ONE is perfect.  That's kind of the point here.  But people see him, think they know him, and want to judge.

Some might say I held the same attitude about Michael Jackson and they'd be right.  I judged.  When the safety of children are involved I form an opinion.  But a man using his dick? Why should that ever be news, or anyone else's business, if it's a man sleeping with a woman who's of age and wants to do it, too?  Ugh.

Well, we disagree on Michael Jackson, but it's OK to disagree.  We agree on Letterman or anyone who thinks it's NEWS to talk about what someone does in their own time.  It's between them and their significant other. It is none of our business.  But I am SO glad to hear that he did not give into the blackmailer!  I love it when someone says Go to Hell - I"LL tell the truth!  And he did so to his audience quite effectively!  Hope all is well with you Ktrina.  Sounds like the career is doing well.  Let me know if you're ever ouyt her in Los Angeles!

Yeah. I couldn't care less if he fucked staff members. And he only got married in March. She's still with him. And I'm sure she knows her husband. She's not going anywhere. We are all human.

I have mixed feelings about it.  I agree that he's human and is going to make mistakes, but he used him fame to get laid and then used it to tell his audience before the press got hold of it.  He wasn't humble about it all.  He said it in his opening monologue so everyone laughed it off till they realized that he wasn't kidding.  I thought it was lame enough to be cheating but his presentation made it all the more lame.

I could care less that he's a cheater, but don't feel sorry at all for him that someone tried to extort him.  He deserves any drama that he gets. I never liked him anyway.

This kind of stuff never ceases to amaze me.  I just don't care about who does who, or what, where, when or how, unless it directly affects my life or the lives of my loved ones . . .  People are just too worried about every other person's screw-ups.  If they spent half the amount of time, workin on their own lives, that they spend worrying about the lives of their neighbors or celebrities, this world would improve tenfold.

Just pisses me off.
