Hello everyone,
The great news-
I had my son Brixton Cash on Monday the 8th at 12:02pm. He weighed 6 pound 10 ounces, 19 inches long and 15 days early. I went into labor around 11pm on Sunday, went to hospital around 2am and was ready for the pushing at 10am. We are so thrilled and in love with our new beautiful baby. It all happened so fast and early.
The sad news-
I only got to hold Brix for about 1 min before they took him away to NICU for some breathing issues. They put him on oxygen and started running tests. His chest x ray came back a bit hazy which can be common with having a baby before its due. His glucose levels are very low and this is the real problem. They have him on antibiotics in case its an infection throwing off his glucose. They are also giving him IV of glucose as well as a tube through his navel to deposit it directly. His levels keep fluctuating high and low. They also put a little feeding tube in his mouth to his tummy. Now its a waiting game to see why he is having these issues. Running tests, checking his blood sugar every few hours and trying different doses of glucose. Today, the 11th, he got his feeding tube removed and his first bottle feeding which he took amazingly! They have cut back on the oxygen now and are trying to ween him off. They tried this yesterday but he started breathing erratically again but so far so good and maybe tomorrow they can remove it altogether! He had held fairly normal blood sugar levels today which is a very positive sign. Hopefully this continues and they can start to ween him off the glucose. We find out more tomorrow!
It so sad to have to see your new baby in NICU with tubes and wires and machines and not be able to hold him. It sure makes you feel worthless. We are staying positive though and I know he will be fine it'll just take time.
I was just released from the hospital and coming home without my son is the worst thing in the world. We dont know when we can bring him home yet so I pray he gets better fast!

Congratulations!  My little brother had something really similar and he is strong as a horse today. lol  Things like this make you realize how lucky you are.  Good luck and take care of each other.

Dayna I know for a fact that he will be ok. Try to Relax. My lil bro was born months early and had all those things attached and now he is a healthy and pain in the ass 8 year old. Beautiful Brixton will be ok. I will keep him in my prayers to come home with you and Alex soon.

My prayers are with you all.  I had a similar experience with my baby boy and I know firsthand how helpless it makes you feel not being able to "make it better".
That's what mom's do, right?  They kiss the boo-boos and give you a beautiful smile overflowing with love and everything is alright.
Just stay positive and God will surely wrap his arms around your little bundle of joy and you'll be kissing scraped knees before you know it. :)

hey dayna.

my thoughts are definately with you. my son was born last year without any problems and i cant imagine what it would have been like in your situation.. still,  positivity is key and you obviously have that P.M.A. i just hope you dont have too long a wait before you can bring the little man home.

my son was born a month and a half early remeber i was telling you he had something called billy ruben or something around that area jaundace was an issue to... Technology  is amazing so im sure your baby boy will be fine ill pray that all goes well with you and your family. it took us about 1-2 weeks to get him home but i would rather he be there than with me and i didnt know what to do. ur lil dude is strong, god bless

a similar thing happen to my nephew but he was born 6 weeks early n now he is 5 going 6. We will say a prayer 4 u n brixton. Just remember that with faith even d impossible is possible n if god has already given u d bless of having Brix then he will award u with bing a great mather d day u get to take him home to u n Alex for the rest of yall lifes n whats even better u will get 2 z him grow strong n healthy like an ox

Hi Dayna* I completely understand where you are, the mixed emotion of being madly in love with your baby, and SO happy, but the ache of having a baby who is not 100% healthy at birth and having to leave him... My son was born at 27wks, and in the hospital for 3.5mo... he also had a heart condition... I am SURE that Brix will come through with flying colors, and I will be sending you all my love and prayers every day till he's home!! Hang in there! ♥ Lena
