With Rooney back on the score sheet, who do you think will play up front in our next match, against Wigan next Saturday, 06 October 2007?

i personally prefer it when united play 4-3-3 like they did for a lot of last season. ideally saha (or rooney) would be the focal point with giggs/rooney/nani on the left and ronaldo/tevez/park (when he's fit) on the right. which leaves scholes, hargreaves, carrick, anderson, o'shea and even giggs (in the advance midfield role) to rotate between the midfield spots. it allows for more interchanging of position...very dutch total football. and united have the players with the all-round technical ability to use it effectively. 4-4-2 is a little rigid.

i honestly don't think it matters what combination of front 3 plays against wigan because there just so much talent amongst all of the above-mentioned names

Dont be so quick to write off Anderson just yet...hes still a junior adapting to the english game. yes, his game at the moment isnt up to scratch but not every player makes an impact on his first season in EPL ( drogba, anyone? ) and if worse comes to worse, in a few years of playing for Man U he wil be worth alot more, and we will sell him

Well first of all, I disagree about Anderson. He showed us a flicker of skill last night, and think about it, he's only just recovered from his injury.

Another thing, you can't just scapegoat rooney for not scoring, our whole team isn't firing at the moment.

Rooney and Tevez against wigan.

What United should do is play Tevez and Rooney as strikers and have Saha come on at either half time or after 60 minutes.

In the matches Tevez has started he has worked himself to a stand still, and Saha has come on and looked a million bucks. When Saha started and came off, Tevez looked a million bucks.

As long as Tevez is allowed to feed Rooney and Saha, and they don't get in each others way, I don't see it working any other way. Against a lower and slower oppostion, I don't think Wigan could handle the three pronged attack, especially with it being fuelled by Ronaldo, and with Nani's performance in the UEFA CL, having a 4-3-3 it would be preferable to have a middle field line up of Nani, Scholes and Ronaldo and bring Giggs on in the second half, and replace Tevez or Saha in the second half with Anderson, because he looks like he is going to come out breathing fire.

This lunchtime match should be the one where we break past 2 goals in a match. Anything less than 3, no matter how good their defence is, is a disappointment. With a 3 pronged attacked I would expect at least a goal each from Tevez, Rooney and Saha and one from probably Nani or Ronaldo unless someone like Vida scores from a corner set peace. I haven't got many predicted scorelines right this year, but putting 5 past Wigan will scare the competition and overnight temporarily put us on top of the Premier League, and i really think we are due.

I would say 4-4-2 the same defence because its rock solid ronaldo on the right scholes and carrick centre and giggs on the left and whoeva says giggs slows the team down is stupid Nani is fast but doesnt have the footballing brain of giggs nani cant pick out a pass from the left he just shoots or swings a ball in.

But i do fell he should play Rooney or Tevez with Saha to see how that goes if were still only scoring one then he needs 2 sort something out because were just not playin as Manchester United.

I do feel he shud give anderson and eagles more of a chance they are manchester united players after all.

I think Fergie should think about dropping Rooney into the Scholes role and going in with Saha and Tevez up front. Rooney scores amazing goals but isn't profilic, a lot of his work comes from the midfield to final 3rd. I think we need someone in the team who can get in behind like Saha...
Scholes is looking less and less mobile and more of a passenger in games. We rest Giggsy from time to time but the same isn't happening with Scholes....I'm a big fan of Scholes but I've been looking where we appear to be most at risk and it seems to me from the back end of last season that the ball gets through midfield quiet easy when we are on the defence. The lack of pace through the centre of midfield was apparent against Roma, they were exactly the same as last season, when pressed in the final 3rd they flap, loose posession near their own box, it happened last night on a few occasions. We just didn't appear to have the drive to fully capitalise on it.

the line-up i would use would be saha leading the front with tevez in behind (linking forward).

put rooney and ronaldo on the wings. we are having trouble getting the ball to rooney and this way he will be more effective. if he doesn't have the ball he is an average player. the boy can make things happen with the ball at his feet. giggs has been a bit sluggish lately.

The reason why I am for playing all three of them at once is because it is very hard for a striker/forward to get going when tehy are brought on a sub. lets face it, solksjaer was a one-off! midfielders who are brought on have an easier chance of settling in because the ball is always around them.

The best bet right now would be Saha...he's ridiculously faster than Oshea, and Tevez needs to calm down a bit so he can get it going later in the season...personally I think Chris Eagles should replace Giggs because Eagles is freaking good and young...whereas Giggs has looked awful lately and is showing clear signs of aging...

I think they shud play who ever they feel fit to play for the match, who ever they put on will play to their best for the team and win the game, Giggs/Rooney/Ronaldo are the best players to play together. As long as they win then nothing else maters coz all the players are good players and are all capable of scoring magnificent goals if they put their minds to it. P.S my fella is going watching this match in one of the boxes, unfortunatly i have to stay home as i'm only 2wks off having our baby and as much as i would like to give birth at Old Trafford i rathered give birth to our lil Man Utd supporter in hospital!!!! Personally,I think we should play 4-4-1-1.Rooney in the hole behind the main striker which should be Saha!Tevez IS crap!I didn't like watching him last season at West Ham & haven't enjoyed 1 minute of his play this season either!Sir Alex should of stayed away from Tevez and kept Rossi who has proved that he scores when he play's cos he's now banging the goals in over in Spain!
A quick note on Giggs,What has happened to him?
Last year he was brilliant but this year he seems to of forgotten how to run, when he get's the ball he now just stop's instead of running at the defender like he has in the past! He'd better find some form fast cos to me Nani,Althou unexperienced,is looking good and plays without fear!

noo noo noo, sorry I don't think we should play Rooney up front on his own, he does do well but that's not nwehre he's best, he needs ito have someone feeding him and up there to work with him. Defiantley either Rooney and Tevez or Saha.

Also, to whoever said that Saha should be sold, sorry but that is just rubbish, Saha is a top class player he is coming back from injury, also you can't exactly say any of the United squad has been firing in goals like someone said earlier with the statistics.

ar I hope Anderson is just doing a Vidic, taking his time to settle in, because last night you see moments of brilliance, but then just sloppy :s but I do like him and think he is a good player, just hope he settles soon and we see more of thsoe good moments.

Hehehe Saha to get a hat-trick on sat, oh Rio can pop one in as well from a corner lol or work his amgic like he did in the England match :P my fantasy football team could do with some points :p ;)

Depends how good he goes ay...

the three main strikers available to man u this season so far hav been Rooney, Tevez and Saha from the games that i've watched (there on at bad times in Aus, so i dont watch every game :(, saw last nites tho as didnt sleep all nite lol). Sure last nights goal against Roma was Rooney's first goal of the season, but he was injured. The goal he scored last nite was just like the one he scored early this year against Roma (the 3-2 win, dont remember if it was first or second game), except the other side of the goals and he wasnt surrounded by bodies last time. He's got unreal knowledge of where he is on the pitch and everything in relation to his position, he's very accurate.

As to Saha and Tevez... i don't really watch Saha much.. hahaha, not that he's not good, he is, i watch enough to know that, but im shady on his strengths and weaknesses. Tevez stands out so much tho, he's such a strong player and holds of defenders just about every time he gets the ball. He's also got a great boot and hammers the ball into goals, he mite rush things sometimes, but other times he definently takes his time and keeps the ball near the box.

So they're my preferences... so long as they both work their asses off and then Saha can be substituted on for the last 20 minutes or so as a fresh and speedy pair of legs. Then again how often do strikers need to be substituted compared to other players... But if Sir Alex rekns that Rooney and Tevez don't go together then mayb Saha is the preferred choice, but Tevez needs some field time. If it's coz Tevez needs to stay on the right, then Rooney played on the left wen van Nistleroy was there didnt he? maybes he cud do that again...

I also think the 4-4-2 works pretty well (just coz someone else mentioned it). With players like Ronaldo, Carrick, Scholes and Giggs in the middle, i mean like, where do u find a better midfield??? Ronaldo's the quickest bloke ive ever seen on the field, also with his tricks he can beat most defenders, but he duznt hog it, he sets stuff up and opens up gaps too. Carrick has improved a lot since he started running on, he's more confident and makes great plays, also shooting quite well this season. We all kno Scholes can kick a ball, and he's got a few tricks happening there haha, great football mind too, knows wat he's doin, then again so do the other blokes. Giggs also knows wat he's doin and can cross in just about everytime he wants to. Duznt rush it either and maintains control of the game. So u can't really kick any of them out is my point. I uh.... dont really pay much attention to the defenders at this stage hahaha, sorry guys only been watching footy since the world cup... Ferdinand is an unreal defender tho i kno that, he sucks balls in the fifa game tho, always handballing n shit...

Anyways thats my opinion and preferences on strikers and reasons why only two strikers shud be on the field at a time. Peace xoxo. i love Man U! and ronaldo hehe ;) best team to watch!

i think that up front tevez and rooney need to be starting becuz they both are
"bulldogs" and play hard till a whistle, but in the mid-field i think scoules is fine with ronaldo, and nani at the wings... p ut carrick back on defense with hargroves where they belong. But I will agree with tommy smyth and that is Manchester united has hardly no support in the middle third, its all ronnie, rooney, saha, or tevez doing the work. The only fixture ive seen that has had middle third support was against the 2-nil win over chelsea. But hey not to complain but they are winning and a win is a win no matter how you get it. Go REDS!

He brings so much energy to the field, he's all over the place and needs to get a full chance to be Rooney's partner up top. As games go by I think both will turn into a very deadly duo that will dominate the EPL.

Tevez is Rooney but just not as good. so I don't think they sghould play together if we don't have to. It always takes wayne a few games to get back into it after an injury. I like the 4-3-3. In my humble opinions this is the set up the team are built for. United have always been about speed and the counter attack. saha in the middle, rooney just off the left (a postion he looks good in) ronaldo on the right. That leaves nani just behind rooney and carrick and scholes to hold midfield up. Carrick is also very good at helping out the defence. The addition of tevez upsets this structure slightly but i reckon he would slot in place of saha.

Play Rooney with Tevez. It lets rooney play with more freedom, as well as Tevez possesses the creativeness we need to score goals lately. Plus Tevez isn't afraid to get stuck in, which is something it seems we are cautious of this year.

we should play saha and rooney upfront in a 4-4-2 formation, when saha is started we have a focal point in which to attack, and that is also what we need to do more,ATTACK!
i really dislike playing a 4-3-3. our balance is always poor when we do that. giggs is not a striker, he should definetly not play in CF. also we cannot play all three strikers at once, it is too risky as we have no backup in that area.

we should also go back to quick passing and explosive speed on the counter, what happened to our classic manchester united way of winning?
To say we should sell anderson is pathetic, he cost us 17mil! and has only played 2 games coming off the bench.

excuse me Mak|||10, did you know united played a lot of 4-3-3 last season and scored a lot of goals using it? it still has a focal point in attack, the central striker. in the 4-3-3 that united played last season, giggs was not an out-and-out striker. he played either on the left of the front 3 or in the advanced midfield role. i do agree that to a certain extent that united don't have enough strikers...they have enough strikers, but not enough that can play as the focal point...only saha and to a lesser extent, rooney. i'm not saying that united should play 4-4-3 all the time. at the end of the day it depends who is fit and the sort of tatics fergie wants to use against the opposition. i don't think he's used it so far this season because he hasn't had many fit forwards. i think that might change in the coming weeks.

Well I think that we should go 4-4-2 and leave rooney and tevez upfront with the option to bring saha on. Also nani on the left ronaldo on the right and then scholes and carrick. Can't leave carrick out after last night's performance. Hargreaves needs to battle for his place.

Keep the red flag flying high.

THE NEXT GAME FOR UNITED NEXT GAME AGAINST WIGAN WOULD BE ROONEY AND SAHA AND TEVEZ TO COME ON THE SECOND HALF UNTIL HE GETS MATCH FIT. ROONEY NOT YOU OUT AND OUT GOAL SCORER AND YOU CAN'T LEAVE OUT ROONEY COS HE SCORED THE WINNER AGAIN ROMA. SAHA IS THE MAN TO SCORE YOU 20 TO 30 GOAL A SEASON WHEN HE FIT. TEVEZ IS A GOOD PLAYER AND HAVE SKILLS HE IS A BITE LIKE ROONEY MAKE SOMETHING OUT OF NOTHING. LIKE ERIC CANTONA BACK IN THE DAYS. SAHA IS A BITE LIKE ANDY COLE FIND SPACES AND CAN BANG IN YOU THE GOALS. WE NEED A GOOD PARTNERSHIP LIKE IN 1998/99 SEASON. WE HAD YORK AND COLE COMBINATION ALSO HAVE TEDDY AND SOLSKJAER COMBINATION WHEN YORK AND COLE WASN'T DOING SO WELL. 4 GOOD GOAL SCORERS. VAN THE MAN WAS A OUT AND OUT GOAL SCORER YOU CAN PUT YOUR MONEY ON HIM HE WILL SCORER YOU THE GOALS IN A GAME. BUT NO ONE ELSE CHIP IN COS EVERY PLAYER KNOWS OR COUNTING ON VAN TO SCORER. WHEN WE SOLD VAN AND WON IN 2006/7 EVERYONE CHIP IN FOR THE GOALS AND PLAY WELL COS VAN WAS GONE. IS LIKE ARSENAL THIS SEASON NO HENRY ALL THE TEAM START PLAYING AND SCORING. MANCHESTER UNITED HAVE THE TIME TO GET ROONEY SAHA TEVEZ TO CONNECT AND BUILD A GOOD STRIKE FOCUS TOGETHER COS THE BACK FOUR IS VERY GOOD AND STRONG. WE ARE WINNING 1-0. BUT WHEN WE HAVE ROONEY SAHA TEVEZ START SCORING REGALLY AND THE TEAM START PLAYING WELL. WE BE WINNING 3-0 4-0 5-0 6-0 7-0 EVEN 10-0 LIKE THE OLD DAYS. MANCHESTER UINTED WILL BE ON TOP OF THE WORLD AGAIN LIKE IN THE 90'S. MANCHESTER UNITED FANS DO YOU ALL AGREED WITH ME?!!! DROP ME A LINE HAPPY TO CHAT ABOUT MANCHESTER UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB.
