I'm going to keep a running log of how things are going over the next
two months for those who care and as a kick in the ass to keep us
productive. So updates will follow occasionally as they come in.

1/14-
We came to practice with all of our heads in a fog for some reason and
the night looked like it was going to be unproductive and frustrating.
By my stroke of genius nonetheless I suggested let's play a song or two
and hopefully my beer buzz will kick in and a creative spark will
happen. Low and behold it worked like a champ! Within seconds of
playing a couple songs a killer riff came out of my ass and everyone's
head turned and the creative juices started to flow from our bodies.A
few hours later we had half a song down and smiles were on all our
faces. I'd compare it so far to Mudvaye with a dash of Perfect Circle
but we'll see what path it takes.

The process of writing a song
is like nothing else. It's really a special experience that makes
being  in a band a pleasure. Especially when your writing with others
and feeding off their ideas as well. It was our first real night
writing with Chris2, our new bass player, and it was like we had been
writing songs together for years. So I foresee many amazing things to
come from Devolve over the course of this year. At least half of our
songs were with different singers, bassists and drummers. Rewritten
time an time again on some songs to adapt to new members. So now that
we have our most talented and strongest lineup yet, it's refreshing to
see how things will come out.

After arriving to
practice late...yay me, we kicked ass like true professionals and
finished in my opinion one of our best songs to date after only two
practices. If this song holds true to past experiences, it'll be a
crowd favorite. Any song  we've ever written either in this band or
past ones, that was written in a practice or two with little or no
struggle, has always been one of our best songs. Who the hell knows
why. It's also our first song with this current lineup as well.
Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. It's heavy with a killer
groove and a nice hook. Hope to have one or two more by our next show
in March with BobaFlex, GorillaFight and Ring of Scars. Woot baby woot!!

Yet another kick ass practice. We set out to write something brutal
and naturally the song took another course entirely. This time it took
a little longer for a creative spark to come but thankfully it did.
After running through our other new song a few times and after a couple
beers the riff gods blessed us again. I'm really stoked about where
this song may go. After seeing Traverser, a local band here in Orlando
play a few weeks ago, I was floored and inspired to write something
along that line. Their a great band and I highly recommend checking
them out.

This definitely won't be a song we write in two practices like last
one but they all can't be that easy. Musically were pushing ourselves a
little more and definitely thinking out of the box and writing
material that were not accustomed too but the challenge is going to pay
off big when it's done I know it. Our singer Chris1 is going to have to
pull some shit out of his ass for this one let me tell ya hehe. But
He'll come up with some killer shit I know it. So far it's a mix of
Tool, Traverser and maybe a little splash of The Cure musically. You
know, the typical two minute intro until the vocals kick in kinda
thing. But the chorus...yes the chorus is going to be the shit. Me and
Chris two, our bassist both pretty much improvised a killer bass line
and a cool harmonic lick at the same time and it was amazing. I love
when that shit happens. When the song has a great hook and you haven't
wrote lyrics yet for it you know it's going to be good. Anyways. I'm
out.. till next time.

Another kick ass practice. We more or less completed our first cover
song. Not going to give out the name or band as of yet, but you can be
sure to check it out when we play with BobaFlex and GorillaFight on
March 14th at The Haven. I will give one hint..it's circa mid 90's and it's
going to rip your fucking face off is all I'm going to say. So March
14th look forward to a killer cover song and 1 new song to enjoy. Poor
Timmy is going to have an ass load of new shit to learn when he gets
back in Feb hehe. Lata

First practice with Timmy back. We of course were sloppy to some degree but felt good to play with all of us back together again. Three weeks until our show at The Haven and we have loads to do to prepare. Show is going to kick ass. Can't wait!
