I love how this one project has spawned lots of smaller little projects.  You can have a whole other film project just based on the side blog movies.

I wish you guys lots of luck and am enjoying watching the back story.

Best of luck.

I'm so blown away with the allowance of your audience into your lives.  This subject matter is so personal and uncomfortable, yet, I feel welcome.

Then there's TheBest mentality of mine creeping in and I think, "How much of this is just what they want us to see?"  "How much of this is real footage caught during a real fight?"

If it is all real: you are both very brave.  Either that or really numb.

I TRULY LOVE how you captured the FACT that life, relationships and continuing on in general are ALL nothing but ONE BIG COMPROMISE after another.

Discipline, in itself, along with mastery of the art of compromise will always guarantee success.

Very nicely done.  You've communicated a Cardinal life lesson in a very subtle and provoking way.

Kudos, Kudos.

This episode had the right balance between artistic expression, narrative depth, and that sharp edge of reality. Quiet fitting that the episode that would be rated "R" is the best one.

The pannasonic DVX-100, it's a great camera, for the back yard deck dance shots we used a super fast shutter of 500 to get that look and we shot in 60i and converted to 24p in Final Cut Pro. Thats how the slow motion is so film like...

That means a lot coming from a choreographer, we were dying for your help on this episode, we wanted to ask you to take the chinatown bus to come up and help us but thought that would be crazy plus there was no time so we had to watch the tango scene from moulin rouge over and over again.

I loved how you symbolised your relationship with your dancing.

But one thing i gotta question.

Is the show all about the making of the show ?

Nope. The video podcast is all about the getting the film to festivals and trying to promote it, the video podcast and the feature film are not the same thing, there are a few common threads and ideas, but other then that they are completely different. The more people that check out the video podcast the better our chances of getting distribution are so people can eventually see the feature film too. Thanks for asking... Arin

Very artistic....alot of emotion involved.  Loved the cinematography.  To be honest, at first I thought to myself, "Why do I care about these two people?"  At the end though, the story, the shots, the music all made me feel for you two.  Great job - giving all to your craft.

Hi there,

I am pretty sure you live just down the hall from me and my roommate Adam. we're in 206 round the corner.

I saw that you had a featured profile and I thought that was pretty cool.

We're subletting while Jonathan's friend David is away for a bit.

As long as it's the same Four Eyed Monster from Brooklyn as it is from MySpace....I'll try to knock sometime to give a human hello.

Seems weird though, letting the internet make a connection that I could have made myself if I got my butt off the couch.

The work you've done looks amazing.

Best of luck,
Matthew

Ok guys what is the real problem here? I think you guys have some good things going, and communication needs to be the main focus.  Talk to each other and come to some common ground that will be good for everyone.  If he has another way of getting the money then he should do that, but seeing that you have alread asked your family and they are supportive then he should go along with it even though he may not like it for now.  I think for the relationship it's a good idea and for the project as well.  If you guys aren't getting along, then spend some time with each other doing fun things and try to recapture what it is that made you click in the first place. Good luck with the whole situation.

dude, that stuff that you shot at the end of episode 3, was amazing. You got to tell me what kinda of camera you shot that on and what you used to light it. I am in film school in california right now, and I am actually trying to shoot a scene just like that for my movie I ll be shooting sometime in the near future. ANY WAYS... I told all my film buddies about you guys and we are behind you 100 percent. Cant wait tilll episode 4 comes out...keep up the good work!

Panasonic DVX-100 in 24pa mode with a shutter of 500. We used a 300 watt and a 500 watt light to double back light. We used a polarizer to reduce lens flare that you get sometimes when you back light things and to reduce shine. By back double light I mean like this.

light A Light B

Also we shot some of the footage not in 24p but instead at 60i and then used cinema tools to batch conform that footage to 23.98 so it could go on the 23.98 timeline everything else was on with out needing to be rendered. Then we slowed it down 50 percent and option dragged it to a new layer which duplicated the track. Then we put the top layer at de-interlace even and the bottom layer at de-interlace odd. Then we put a blink filter on the top layer and put it at 1 on and 1 off. Then we rendered and sometimes it wouldn't look completely right so we'd nudge the top layer either one frame to the left or one frame to the right and try to re-render. Eventually we acheived that slow motion effect you see when I'm spinning susan.
Unfortunately, if you have any specific questions I can't answer them because we have to work on episode 4!!! So go search 2-pop.com for more info if you need it.

Hey Thar,
I love the podcast.  So creative and real.  Thank You.

your music choices are really cool.  Please tell your friends who have music they want heard to let me know.  I have a podcast that gets about 1,600 listeners per show, and I do live interviews/recordings as well.  Based in LA, and focused on under the radar music.   Keep up the good work.

hey, i'm one of the ballroom dancers you sent a message to...first i'd liek to say i love it.  haha.  but it doenst' look anything like tango besides the fact that you probably took a few moves from dances you did know like the waltz and foxtrot and mostly swing and added sharpness to it which made it probably come off as tango to most people.  which is perfectly fine with me, i love variety and creativity :-D  Nice job i really like the whole theme of it and the way you pulled it off.

You asked for input on the dancing - technically, it did not seem to be a tango (Argentine or standard).  However, I doubt that is of any importance.  She looks as if she has had dance training - very graceful.  I think it conveyed the feeling & emotion well & served its symbolic purpose.

Overall - the clip reminded me of a relationship I was in once where it became more important to be right/win than to be happy.

Interesting episode.  In terms of the dancing, I am by no means a professional, but I'll tell you what I can.  It was pretty good, but there are a few stylistic things you could do to improve the look of it.  Basically, when your taking those slow steps, you should really step down more.  Bend your knees.  The whole movement should then kind of look like a sweep of some kind.  And when you're turning her, don't just leave your arm hanging by your side.  Hold it up at waist level...about the same level where you would be holding her, only keep it next to you so as not to hit her while she turns.  The really fast turn sequence at the end looked pretty good, but I would just say to bend your knees more, both of you.  She's a really good dancer, looks as though she's had professional training.

regarding the tango .. as it is with all dance, as an art form, the emotion felt is primary - the steps are secondary. i think you both have done a phenomenal job of expressing the myriad of emotions inherent to the forces between two people in love. the dance is beautiful because the love is beautiful.

Hey, so I'm one of the Ballroom Dancing people you forwarded this to and I really enjoyed the story, the layout, everything. It was very nice. As far as the Tango went that you wanted feedback on, I couldn't really tell if you were actually doing Tango. It looks like you were leaning towards Argentine Tango, but I couldn't really depict anything. The dancing does, however, look great. I would maybe refer to the dancing as interpretive ballroom.

If you want any more feedback let me know!

I must say from a film stand point it was nicely done. It kept my attention and the choice of shots used were awesome... however since you asked my proffesional dance opinion... It was more a lyrical movement rather than tango. I did think it moved well and the shots used did cover a lot of technical mishaps. But I mean I wouldnt worry too much about all that because its a well made piece and the focus is not on dancing correctly lol

This was my first podcast experience. And you sent it to me for my "expert ballroom dancing" opinion. Now I don't know about expert, and I don't know how much experience you have, but it wasn't too bad. I could obviously give it some help but it's not there to be "dancesport" it's there for your podcast so as for podcast type ballroom level, it's great!
