June 16, 2009 - Tuesday
On June 14, 2009, the Hadeland Lag lost one of its most important members.  Leslie Rogne was the Lag's first genealogist.  Although he officially retired in 2003, just a few weeks before his death he was still helping out with research - walking cemeteries and digging up local records of ancestors gone but not forgotten.
Neither will Leslie be forgotten.  He built the Lag's library from scratch, spent hours scouring microfilm, providing detailed answers to questions from members across the country.  Always thoughtful and methodical, he was our own encyclopedia of all families Hadeland, who was generous with his knowledge and humble about his expertise.
In his 93 years, he added a warm and gentle touch to so many lives. Leslie left us all richer for his efforts, and his legacy will live on not only in his devoted family, but he will also continue to enrich the lives of all who seek information about their Hadeland ancestry, and find answers in the files he so carefully collected and catalogued. Our hearts go out to his wife and very best friend, Katherine, his two sons and his daughter.
