AUSTROPOP - Everyone here in AUSTRIA anxious to be at least half-cool avoids any context between him or herself and the term AUSTROPOP.

So it's more than about time to pay homage to  this disdained genre having such an impact on Austrians in our youth.
May I direct your attention to this personal randomize  selection of AUSTROPOP-Songs from the 70teis to the 90ties.

As a starter here is a short clip showing Marianne Mendt, Andrè Heller and Wolfgang Ambros back in the early 70ties issuing a proclamation about the need of using viennese dialect in the local pop-culture that time, which was rather unusual thitherto.

Ambros with an early song

"Wie wird des weitergeh'n"

Ludwig Hirsch  - " I lieg am Ruck'n"

Georg Danzer-Die Moritat vom Frauenmörder Wurm

Maria Bill - I mecht so gern landen

Hansi Lang - Josefine

Mordbuben AG

Chuzpe - Die guten Kräfte

Falco - Ganz Wien

EAV -  Tanz Tanz Tanz

DÖF - Codo

Hubert von Goisern & Alpinkatzen

Wolfgang Ambros - Es lebe der Zentralfriedhof

Kottans Kapelle feat Johann K.

Drahdiwaberl - Die ausgeflippten Lodenfreaks

And because Drahdiwaberl rocks just another one featuring Biolek (and without fucking on stage as usual during this hymn)

One of my all time favourite Falco songs is

Wiener Blut

Also an Austropop - Classic

STS - Großvater

Red Lorry

Trio was from Germany (in fact, DÖF also was to one half....DÖF, short for Deutsch-Österreichische Freundschaft (German-Austrian Friendship)included Manfred Tauchen and Joesi Prokopetz from Austria and the Humpe-Sisters from Germany)
