I just posted a new song, "Baby's No Help." It's a demo, recorded in my living room. I wrote it for my cat Baby.
In a couple of weeks my next cd, Deus Sex Machina, is going to be released. It is very electronic, instrumental music, pre-dating both Pop Down The Years and the seasons. A lovely work, it probably won't sound weird to people in thirty years. Right now it sounds beautiful, but weird. I'll be posting songs from it here shortly.
But tonight I discovered that an old friend and classmate (Grant Taylor's voice class in W. Hollywood), Diane Birch, was in the process of hitting the big time. And she sure deserves it. She used to sing her songs in class and I knew she was a very special talent. Beautiful voice, beautiful face, prolific as hell, amazingly musical ... and she had drive. She was always working.
So I posted Baby's No Help in her honor. I think she would like the song.
I remember riding around Hollywood with her one night & I had a very early version of Deus Sex Machina on cd. We put it in the cd player. Upon hearing the title track, she said, when I asked her what she thought,"I've never heard anything like it!" Not sure if that was good or bad, on reflection, but she seemed to like the cd all in all.
Anyway, I have put her in my top friends. She was always a strong songwriter, but she has really come into her own. It was exciting listening to her new music tonight. I highly recommend you visit her page, listen to her music and then buy a cd!
Also in my top friends is Grant Taylor, the best voice coach in California. He has worked with a couple of the biggest singers in the world, but is not allowed to say who! Serious.
