If you are reading this blog, then you either came to The Gathering's page out of sheer curiosity, or because you used to be part of something special...so...keep reading.
The Gathering was birthed years ago under the direction of Doug and Kimberly Glynn. Doug and Kimberly came to Arizona in hopes to create something authentic and genuine that truly embodied Kingdom Living. What happened and what became was so much more than anything that could have been planned.
Being struck by John Lynch's "True Faced" message, The Gathering was a gateway for people to come, to be real and to be broken. And within their brokenness, The Gathering's hope was that they find hope and beauty.
The Gathering became a home to many, and within our home we were touched by both miracles and tragedy. Both playing a key role in who were as a community and as individuals.
While in the midst of transition and soul searching for our little community, we invited Tim and Holly Miller to be part our "cause" as well. Leaving everything behind, with the same hope of people finding beauty in their brokenness, the Millers became part of our family.
As in how most family stories go, both the miracles and the tragedies run parallel with each other. While more people found their way into our lives, we also found ourselves starting to find way into other parts of our own stories; finding directions which conflicted with the direction of The Gathering and where it needed to go. And after years of sweet, sweet memories, The Gathering eventually came to an end.
However, although "The Gathering" itself has officially ended, the story continues. Who we are and the ripple effect it has on both our own lives and the lives of those around us are going to continue for some time. To be part of something so real, and to get such a clear glimpse of what Kingdom Living is about, we find hope. After all, The Gathering itself may have been a place to "go", but The Gathering in reality was about people. People finding their way in the broken world.
And in fact, that's what we're still doing. Finding our way. How great it is that while we were trying to shape The Gathering, The Gathering has helped shaped our identity as individuals.
We're always going to be part of The Gathering. Whether there's a specific place to go, or it's just a piece of sweet memory, it will be there. It will be there for us to remember those miracles, anguish over the tragedy and smile to know we were, and are, part of something so rare that in ways, we could never explain it to someone else.
As we follow our own journeys in this world and look to our somewhat unknown futures, we remember that we are linked to our past. Linked to The Gathering. Linked to each other.
The story will always continue.
