Well my friends,
It is official, Barack Obama has been elected as the 44th President of the United States of America. I sat here all evening watching the different news channels reporting the results. I know so many others did the same. So many people are probably hurt right now. Those that didn't believe he should win. And on the other hand...many are excited and happy about the changes he will bring.
Look, I can take the Christian perspective here and talk about why a lot of us voted against him. But I am not going to. I will say a few things. And whether you agree or not is okay.
First of all...HISTORY was made. I do believe in my heart that this country has come a long way. I DO NOT agree with many of his policies. But not a single American can deny the fact that we made history by electing the first African-American President in our nations history. A huge day for minorities in this country. A huge day for all AMERICANS. This is the kind of stuff that will be in the history books. And of course, I was excited by the addition of Sarah Palin to the Presidential race. I thought it was a very bold move by the McCain team to ask her to come on board as the potential Vice-President. Her being on the ticket made history as well.
I am not going to speak to you just as "Pastor D." I am also going to speak to you as an American citizen. Someone who loves this country. A country that is free...truly free. A country that has allowed me the FREEDOM to worship God. To attend church. To speak my mind!
This GREAT COUNTRY needs its people to come together now. We need to cross party lines. We are not Republicans or Democrats or Independents. WE ARE ALL AMERICANS!!! This country has so many obstacles and challenges ahead of us. It is time for us to come together and once again strengthen this great country.
And Christians....let me address you for a minute. I know the issues at hand. I also disagree with Obama and many of his policies. I disagree with the many races and amendments and ballots we lost across the country tonight. But, what are we to do now? How about we pray for our next President, Barack Obama? Isn't he the man that GOD has allowed to win this election? How about we pray that God would get a hold of his heart? How about WE UNITE AS CHRIST INTENDED? It isn't us against the world my friends. It isn't us against them. Do not fear what is ahead. Embrace it. Pray my friends. Intensify your efforts in reaching the lost. Continue to fight against abortion and other moral issues. Don't give up. LET THIS ELECTION BE AN EYE OPENER FOR US!!! Christians....Americans....it is time for us to listen to the voice of God......today was so crucial. But tomorrow is even more crucial.
Let's move forward together......
