Jessica Jackson Where boredom reaches its peak.

[28 Apr 2007 | Saturday]

Current mood:  exhausted
I'll keep this short-ish.

Friday: First band we saw was Noisettes. I had never listened to them before but I really enjoyed their set. Next I watched Silversun Pickups who were, of course, breathtaking. After that I bounced back and forth between Circa Survive, Comedians of Comedy, and Digitalism. Next band I saw on the main stage was The Jesus and Mary Chain. They were fun. Old, but fun. After that we caught a bit of Benny Benassi before running back to the main stage for....INTERPOL!! Their performance was amazing but in a subtle, understated kind of way. They didn't play Stella though. This I blame on Max because he said "They have to." He jinxed it!! Bjork, however, was the opposite of subtle. She was so full of fun and color and she sure can sing! She had these weird DJing programs that Max said were MIDI-something-or-others.

Saturday: I think the first band I saw was Hot Chip. Basically 5 middle-aged guys who I know in my heart love Nintendo. Then we went over to the Sahara tent and wiggled our booties to the masterful scratchings of MSTRKRFT (Cee won't listen to him because he doesn't use vowels.). Unfortunately, my knee started acting up around this time and I had to put on my brace and hobble around. So Max and I wobbled over to the outdoor stage to listen to The Decemberists. They didn't play Babylon and that made me mad. After that we rushed over to The Arcade Fire. ARCADE FIRE!! They were probably my favorite! They played Neighborhood #3 (Power Out) and Rebellion (Lies) and Neon Bible and No Cars Go and Keep the Car Running and etc. After that Max went to watch LCD Soundsystem but I stuck around for the first bit of Red Hot Chili Peppers set and then went over to watch The Rapture. They were a lot of fun and they played Get Myself Into It which is all I wanted so it was great.

Even though Coachella was hot and my knee hurt, I had a blast and ate really expensive Pan-Asian food and Minute Maid Frozen Strawberry Lemonades. I was sad that Cee didn't go and it sort of seemed like Jenn should have gone but I was glad Max was there. Can't wait for next years.
