miserylab | lab:report | two wrongs do make a right

[14 Sep 2009 | Monday]

the new release is now available for download click here

two new songs 'the skin thing' and 'dystopian'
I've relaxed the production boundaries I created for previous tracks .. and scaled them up a little - dynamically ..

I've no particular favourite of the two - be interesting to hear which you prefer - neither ?

the package comes with the two tracks : mp3 320kbps - printable artwork and lyricsheet - plus a desktop background featuring the original artwork I created for the album - a death that we can cure ...

there will be no preview on the myspace player - at least not for not sometime .. I suppose I would like to see if it has any impact on downloads ..

a live video interpretation or some such - will be up over the next week or so for those of you who don't wish to buy the tracks without having some sort of preview ..

function creep has been temporarily deleted and is currently unavailable for download ..

still find myself struggling to find the enthusiasm to maintain miserylabs online presence - and have no idea why ?

Rawwr!, at last, the single is out :) Love the bass on dystopia, vocals are a tad odd. They feel kinda retro, maybe a little lower than usual?. Love the driving bass though, nice. 'The skin thing' is what I would deem classic Miserylab, the song structure and vocals stylee is what one would come to expect. I mean this as a good thing by the way, it very much is a song with it's own personality.....and this is why I'm not a reviewer of music ;) Haven't really got a preference per se, I mean dystopia has that lovely bass line, love the speed , tempo. On the other hand the skin thing has the classic vocal and musical stylings. After a few more listens, dystopia is the winner for me. It brings back fond memories and for the above mentioned reasons. Quite interested to find out if there is a drop off in sales due to previews. Due to what I would deem to be a close community, I wouldn't think you would really lose that many sales. On the other hand, the freetard mentality is quite prevalent these days, maybe the idea of 'fans' supporting artists is a romanticised vision. Sorry to hear about you struggle, I kinda lost my creativity years ago, well, the enthusiasm to externalise it anyhoo's. Now it's lack of musical knowledge and ability that holds me back, I have changed the subject matter and have found it quite liberating. I used to write a lot of self introspective stuff, contemplate the meaning of it all and generally try and put the world to rights. These days I enjoy pondering the mundane, partially because it's weird and wonderful, mainly because it gives me a different perspective on things in general. Instead of fearing for humanity and thinking how we're pissing our potential away, I can appreciate the silly little things that lift the soul and ease the mind with little doses of stupidity. Well, it kinda works for me ;) You mentioned elsewhere you were contemplating doing something a tad different. A change is as good as a rest, though of going on holiday or just generally doing something to shift your attention?. I hope you get your momentum back soon, it's always good hearing from you and enjoying your music. Funstuffs!

Apologies for the wall of text, for some reason this faills to notice paragraphs.

An edit function would be nice.
