me and Will and Jim went to see Charlie Parr last night and holy shit that was amazing, I feel so much lighter! Music is medicine... an unbelievable relief, to have the force of someone else's art completely take over body and mind. oh, I can't wait to go devour local music this spring and summer and fall. The deadness of winter is passing, and I crave music, its delicious power. If anybody is wondering, there are a lot of talented motherfuckers that play in this city, I shall name a few in hopes that reluctant folks will come and partake.
bouncer fighter -- utterly spectacular. must see live, even if you are old and rickety, which you aren't.
a paper cup band -- talented, creative motherfuckers who always unite their audience.
sleeping in the aviary -- driving force to their songs which are pretty damn amazing. only seen once, want more.
white lodge, or whatever Tony & Ali are up to -- groovy psychedelic-tinted dance tunes.
zombie season -- morbid pop, twisted and satisfying. I am marking my calender...
those are just a few from the top of my head, and I shall discover more.
a suggestion for friends, a reminder for my future (forgetful) self: just drag your heavy soul to a local show, let your bones be loosened, let your joints be a tambourine for the night, and it will amaze you how much lighter you feel.
