Life on Mars didn't need any remake - the british original is perfect. it's not always about 'action'...

100% agree. No need to remake the original. The British one didn't try so hard to make it look like 1973, it just WAS 1973. The remake doesn't seem to have the heart of the British one.

I agree. You wouldn't remake Bladerunner would you? Well the same thing applies here.

jesus fkn christ, so much blind hatred for the USA. over a fucking TV show. all of europe relies on the US, if we fall, you fall, if we rise, you rise. our GDP is only slightly lower than the entire EU. the british excel at nothing besides having bad teeth. i've said my piece.

Great Show! Since I don't Have BBCAmerica I don't get to see the original that often. I really hope the show stays on longer than it's British counterpart.

I miss BBC's Coupling. It was only on for 4 seasons.

OMG, Coupling was the BEST. But it went down hill when the character Jeff left. He was the BEST part of the show.

Thought it was pretty good...why is it people are such America haters? A remake of a TV show done in America with the setting in New York and some folks get up in arms about it..crazy, WAIT a sec! Done in NEW York, the city and state were named after the city of York and we did that so much better! HA! Anyway if you hate America THAT much then STOP watching American films and TV shows as well. Its hypocritical, kind of like saying you hate black people but LOVE Halle Berry or Wesley Snipes or N.W.A. or Snoop Doggy Dogg, I mean for crying out loud. If you DON'T like the remake then DON'T WATCH IT! And please..PLEASE, keep that moron Mr. Bean

I'm American, and I was introduced to Life on Mars last year, as well as a few other shows made made in the UK. I became excited when I heard it would be aired here, but lost interest when I found out it was a remake. Remakes anywhere never seem as good as the original, but I'm willing to view anyhow. I checked around a few vid shops and asked if they had anything from Britain...sadly not. I think America has lost it's humor over the years and makes remakes out of remakes out of remakes. We have run out of good material and a few producers made a handshake deal to air the show here American style. I'm sure money was involved when the story changed hands. I also know Europe sees a few shows that cannot get aired in America! Lots of politics in TV land, but most of it reeks money... I threw my TV out two years ago after the writer's strike because American TV sucked for so long and I didn't want to waste my time paying for reception for boring reality shows. Whatever, I think each country should stick to their own ingenuity and not copy anyone else but it's cool Britain is willing to send us a laugh and good music - much needed since 911...thanx.

What's funny is I had no idea this show was a remake. That being the case, I watched it with 0 expectaions and I liked it. Now I stumble on this thread and it cracks me up u ppl bashing one another over a TV show. And ppl wonder why the world has issues.

I did not like it. I feel it is okay but not as good as the UK original. Hope it gets better. I am crossing my fingers. I feel that the only show that has surpassed the original has been The Office.
