Wonderful article.

We just have to realize (but not necessarily accept) that society right now is far different from what it was 20 - 30 years ago. Look what it did to the music industry. This week was 5 years since I was "eliminated" from a job that I greatly loved for the 28+ years I was performing it. I have to keep telling myself that it was for the better. I am just too old now for all that corporate bullshit. All the execs care about now is raking in millions of $$$$.

A superb and well-written article on the state of radio. Lee is right on the money...and it's about the money..ONLY. There was a book, "Do What You Love and the Money Will Follow". The radio biz is run by lawyers and accountants. What can you expect?  They don't GET John Majhor's humor any more than I understand an Opera performance. Opera is over my head. To them, so is radio....and John Majhor is over their heads. It's as though they were viewing a Picasso and were saying what IS all that stuff? Where's the picture?

Okay, so the question is...what can any of us radio types who still love the true essence of the medium, DO about it? Let's face it, satellite isn't the savior either (also owned and run by corporate types, with even MORE financial pressure on them).

For those of us who failed exams because we listened to Majhor on CHUM instead of studying, it is extremely exciting to see the blog come back to the issue of radio for a bit. Seems like a life and death struggle could render radio unimportant, but it didn't. And that's fantastic.
