Perhaps a particular chruch should not have a full-time pastor at all.  Consider the possibility of calling a team of ordained clergymen, each holding a "secular" job during the week.  The alternatives for pastoral leadership are endless.

the
Bono stuff is still up...vince I'd really love to hear your thoughts on his words...

I think that Bono is right, WE MUST BRING JUSTICE TO THE PLANET.  But we must do it under the direction of the Spirit, humanitarian aide can only be effective when it is a release of the storehouses of heaven, through men and women that are directed by the Ghost.

I LOVE the focus on the poor and broken that Bono has.  And I don't want to speak any ill against him, for I think he is a prophet to the world that will actually be listened to because of his conduct over decades, especially to the western world.  I just don't want people thinking that just because he says it is good, or because it even IS a good thing to do, that people just jump out there and do it - fight for social justice, that is.  Unless you are sent, don't go.  Jesus' exhortation to His disciples was to PRAY that the LORD of the harvest SENDS out laborers.  He didn't tell them to pray that people would GO, but that He would send them and they would go.

This is a crucial issue.  Much missions work is done because it is viewed as what GOD wants us to do during the summer, or even because people see that there isn't anyone effecting a certain tribe, and therefore because they noticed then they "must be the one to go."  This is a grave mistake, what they must do is pray that the LORD of the Harvest sends laborers, specifically called and even DESIGNED FROM THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE EARTH to tear down the strong holds of the enemy in a geographic region or people group.

If you aren't sent, don't go, because those who are actually called to be sent where you are going will never walk in their fulness because you will BE IN THE WAY OF THE MOVE OF GOD...not a good place to be.  On top of this, if you are there and you aren't called there, then you are not in the center of GOD's will either...you will inevidably stray into heresy, sin and ineffectiveness outside of His direction.  My mom always said, "If you realize you are on the wrong path, don't keep going in hopes of finding the right path.  Go back to the last thing that you KNOW the LORD told you to do, and do that until He says otherwise."

For example, with you, Jim, you were called FOR A SEASON to Grace Lutheran.  If you hadn't realized the truth that you are called to Grand Rapids and stayed in Leslie, you would have kept those that are there from their fulness in the grace of GOD for this season.  And then you would not have been in Grand Rapids, where you will be FAR more effective in accomplishing what you were called with a holy calling from the foundations of the earth to do.

I love how my comments on your blog are a blog unto themselves and are generally twice to thrice as long as the original blog.

I think I'm boycotting you with Kudos until you come visit.
