Forever and Too Many Days......

Geez louise!
I'm so very sorry I've been a terrible friend and haven't written.
My life has seemed so hectic as of late and the online communication was the first thing to go--oops. Fortunately there's a bit to update you on.....

1. RECORD TIME:
I am in the thick of record pre-production and loving every minute of it. I feel super lucky to have an amazing producer on board (John Alagia) and we're starting mid-September somewhere far away from LA---woohoo!

2. MUSICAL COLLABORATIONS:
I'm writing to you from the comforts of my hotel in BOSTON (LOVE, LOVE it here) where I'm writing with one of my favorite people on the planet, Lori Mckenna. Good gracious, she's just plain amazing. It's such a pleasure to be in her company and always a blast to write with her. PS: her new record will knock your socks off. LOVE HER!!!

Last week I also had the honor of working with Brandi Carlile. Are you kidding me? She may have the greatest singing voice I've ever heard. Seriously. I wanted to just sit there and listen to her sing anything--"Happy Birthday", "The National Anthem", etc.....She's that good. If you don't have her album, do yourself a HUGE favor and pick it up. Luckily she's a totally cool girl, so I could somewhat be myself around her and not just a geeky fan.

I'm off to NYC next week to work with HEM. Can't wait! Such a great group.....their song "Not California" kills me....hehe. All in all, a pretty great couple of weeks for me. :)

3. "License to Wed"
It's done and in the can. What can I say?? The best experience I've had making a film. Everyone felt like family at the end (we were in Jamaica by the way) and i miss them still. I think it's going to be a pretty great movie (none of which will have anything to do with me by the way). I'm hearing a July 4th release date.......

That's about it work-wise.
I've been taking some off between the writing sessions......just hanging with friends, driving my veggie car, going to a few baseball games, making my favorite sugar-free oatmeal cookies, and trying to get generally organized. hahah

CURRENT OBSESSIONS:

"The Catherine Tate Show"--- she may the funniest person ever. I can't get over how great she is....just perfect. I've watched every episode atleast 3 times....."HOW VERY DARE YOU!!"

Blackberry Messenger---- just plain addicting, folks.

Wearing glasses---- contacts are ok but GLASSES RULE!

Fresh raspberries---- pure deliciousness.

Darrell Scott--- Lori took me to see him play in Cambridge at Club Passim tonight. It was completely overwhelming. I think he made my brain melt. I've never seen someone play the guitar like that......WOWWOWWOW.

And on that note, I think it's time for me to (as a good friend of mine says) huck my carcass in to bed. G'Night and more to come......

I LOVE the Catherine Tate Show! The "Rustic Lodge" ginger refuge is probably my favorite (I've got red hair...and "freckly arms"!). Nan's great, too ("What a f***ing liberty!"), and Lauren is so hilarious- "Are we your flock, Miss? Is it that we are your flock?"

Getting "generally organized" is a good thing; I've been working on that, too.

I'm so glad you liked Boston! I just moved here a year ago and love it!!! I love walking (not driving!) and just enjoying the people. I can imagine this place would be very inspirational to write music.

That's rad that you've been able to team up with so many other talented artists. I can't wait to hear what you come up with. Boston is a beautiful city (I miss it there a lot). California is great, but there's a feel you get on the east coast that you can't get anywhere else - particularly New England. You can feel the life there just walking through the streets.
