"Pedro Bonita"
An evocation of a more or less fictitious iconic rock star, in his mid-forties, looking back at past success he cannot revive anymore. But with a strong desire to start again, and with the help of the loved one… nothing seems impossible.
Some say this song by Stephane sounds like The Strokes… and we agree that the guitar sound and the tight drumming are rather reminiscent of their style, but may as well in fact be inspired by underground 90's band Boyracer. Others think that "Pedro Bonita" could be a perfect name for the much anticipated, yet highly improbable, new Pixies album.
Vincent's bass, heard right from the intro in a kind of
Just Live Heaven gimmick, has a groovy feel that enriches the main guitar riff and provides interesting material. Isabelle and Stephane mix their voices with almost exactly the same intentions through the song.
Gabriel came up with this catchy and positive guitar line before the verses... that you find yourself whistling in the morning! A trumpet was once considered as an additional instrument, but the idea never made it to the recording (hopefully, who knows?)
Thanks for listening
