Waiting is torture. It's the feeling of almost being there, almost like how no matter the amount of times you change the settings on your digital camera, you can never accurately capture the beauty of the setting sun. Or how when you're in line at the DMV, it seems you'll never actually get your turn. Almost as bad as waiting for a bomb to drop. Counting down the days to the next opportunity to grab at a well-deserved and long anticipated slice of freedom. Your heart racing as your stomach somersaults over the thought and imagination of hugging your best friend for the first time in too long of a space away. The idea of nine whole months standing in the way of your next bout of happiness. The pang that attacks your heart upon looking at pictures of your best friends who are carrying on their lives hours and hours away from you. Never has waiting been fair, but one thing I've realized is that when the ride is over and you stand up from the roller coaster car, it went by way too fast and all of a sudden you find yourself wishing it wasn't time for you to even get on yet. You can wait for hundreds upon hundreds of days at a time, but still, the same feeling always creeps up on you when, in a blink of an eye, it's over. Fairness doesn't always come along with happiness, so I've come to see.
