dj olive plays a few of his "vinyl scores"
warning: this is very abstract...no bangin' beats...no roof music(like last weekend!)...this is me quietly spazzing out with a few of my home made records ..i'm happy to get the chance to play at the stone, a quiet intimate sit down space perfect to present my vinyl scores.
hope to see you there

as well as making dance music and sleeping pills, i produce vinyl scores for the turntable. these are pallettes of sound or compositional components produced in my studio and then pressed on 12" vinyl. these scores are then interpreted by turntablists. improvising, they can paint with sound. what you mix and what I mix will always be different but the sounds are the same.
on june 12th i will mess around with these scores:
Composition 11 for three turntables was commissioned by Roulette in NYC in '97, performed in '98 and was released as a vinyl score in '99.
i developed and performed a vinyl score for Franz Triechler's "Copier/coller" in 99.
i premiered my vinyl score "perpetual sound check" in Brussels in '00.
i collaborated with Luc Ferrari on his composition "d'exploitation des concepts" making a vinyl score built with sounds from his archive. "d'exploitation des concepts" was performed in Gent '00 and since played in Antwerp, Paris, New York, San Fransisco and La Chaux-de-fonds.
i developed a score for six turntables using only source sounds from Belgian cellist Jean Paul Dessy called "Ixelles".
it was premiered in Ixelles in 03.
