This film is the only thing that makes me feel completely understood within the first 10 minutes. If you haven't watched this film I cannot say it enough, "Watch this movie!!!!" Some of you reading this, weren't old enough to remember this scene and most of you weren't even born when Punk existed. I would also like to quote the founders of the scene by saying that PUNK NO LONGER EXISTS regardless of what MTV and other media whores trick on corners. What you listen to today and what is popular in fashion today are both extremely watered down recipes for corporate America to sell anarchy, teen angst, and individualism...only back then it wasn't pussy sell out hogwash. Fuck all this bullshit in the world today. It wasn't perfect then and that's why I love it! The over gloss, the hot bodies, the studio smoke and mirrors, and echelon pretensions can all GET FUCT. I'm about screaming out that I hate societies expectations, I piss on the white picket fences, I say fuck the overzealous, the corrupt officials, the mascots, and greed mongers.  Show me backbone, heart, creativity, and origination. All of which are flat lined in America today. We have traded it all for grills, rims, fake tits, frosted hair, self proclaimed gangstas, sex tapes, celebrity idols, vocoders, and 3 minutes of shame. I'll take sweaty pissed off masses with heads full of drugs in an abandoned building rioting and starting fires only to wake up in someone else's yard any day of my life. Grow a spine America and find your balls.

This is what we are embracing in LDP. We are doing it ourselves. I thank each and every one of you who supports us and shows interests and most importantly hangs in there while we finalize our debut Salience. We are totally DIY. We have written, recorded, produced, and funded everything from day one. It takes longer but it will be worth it because we make music that matters to us. Music that we can stand by without the expectations or pressures of a label that only sees dollar signs. They aren't for the artist, they are a corporation and the one and only function of a corporation is to generate profits by any means necessary. We understand that you cannot win that war until you are in a power position and if that means never having a major label deal then FUCK IT. This project saved my life, literally. I dedicate everything I am to this and I am most grateful to share it with my fellow members and all of you. Salience is coming in a matter of weeks and regardless of Top 40 radio we did it all OURSELVES and we're just getting started. I'll see you on the road next summer. This is when life's an art, not a commercial.

p.s. Keith Morris is my inner monologue

And if you didn't know, it was based on a book of the same title including interviews with all the legends in the film, and even more who couldn't be added due to the time restraints of the chosen media.  Fucking phenomenal.   What other book will you find D.R.I. in??? C'mon....

Amen. Thank you for adding that! I sometimes get ahead of myself. Great book, great film, and a great time in American youth.

I'm surprised every time when I see people who think and truly believe in something different from materialstic side of this reality. I love the film, I'm glad that I saw the "thought" and the protest in this blog and mostly in myspace, that is the same fuckin shit like every other site that people are addicted to. Thank you! Hope I'll dream more conscious this night...

I've read the book and watched the movie...

I can't remember the dude's name, or the band he was in, but he's wearing a suit and tie in every interview he's in, and it just makes the movie so damn funny.

Great sentiments! The only part I disagree with is the PUNK NO LONGER EXISTS bit.. we just have to look a bit harder to find the real stuff! It's still out there lurking, because it's too big to go away. The more bollox we get crammed down our throats through the mainstream the more need there is for that outlet. Up the punx!!!!

thanks for writing greenskull. I am often guilty of speaking in absolutes. Thanks for reminding me that there is almost always an exception. It's just hard to have hope in that idea when you do not see it anywhere around you. I think music is dead and depending on when you ask me, that sometimes includes my art as well. I do not know what is next or if it will ever have life again but your words give me hope that people like you and I are what keeps it beating!

Believe me, I know what that's like! Music and art aren't something many can just turn on and do, but after periods of not doing it you'll always go back to it with a fresh outlook. I felt the same way 12-13 years ago and turned my back to it but no matter what I do it just seems to follow me! It's like a monkey on my back and ironically it seems just as if not more relevant today as it ever did. So long as it's in our hearts it can't go away! I grew up in a small town where people like you and me were frowned upon but it just made me all the more determined to do my thing. I've lived in the UK for 10 years now and it's convinced me that punk, art and hip-hop are alive and well. And as always the best stuff seems to be the hardest to find! Stand strong, stand proud!!! Cheers fella!
