So I’m off for a lovely much needed, hardly deserved vacation in Brazil,
and I want to have a little chat before I leave.
Things we need to discuss:
AGENDA
-New York Show
-Cats VS. Dogs
-Movies
-London
Show
-Street Food
-Toronto Acoustic Show
NYC
show at Arlene’s Grocery
So, we’re back from our extensive,
one day tour of the USA. We had an awesome time - cramped into a Dodge Charger
trying to hunt down beer in Pennsylvania in the 11th hour of our first trek. . .
Trip
Highlights (as written in my travel journal, complete with scrapbooked receipts,
maps and pictures. . .awww)
-Hungover in Bushwick, searching for a cab and
only finding fresh fruit (we love fruit, but sometimes you need a cab instead of
a mango)
-Riding the subway & walking over the Williamsburg bridge. .
.
-Eating awesome pizza and Mexican food. . .
. . . and of course a
killer show at Arlene’s Grocery which is a sweet rock bar in the lower east
side (LES, yo) of Manhattan. We played to a great crowd and were joined by
a number of great acts including our dear friends from the NYC, “Measure”
and a duo from Toronto called “Lover/Fighter.”
Great times, good music and a new found deep jonesing for NYC pizza and Williamsburg
Mexican food. . .damn, it's good!
Cat’s vs. Dogs
= Dogs
Movies
3D is the new 2D.
Seriously,
have you seen any of these new 3D movies? Well done innovators, I’m
hooked. I will gladly spend $30 bucks a ticket to see a rock fly at my face.
London
Show
We’re playing my hometown London, Ontario on
Friday July 3rd. Call the Office is where it will all go
down - a classic spot for all London folks. If you happen to be from London
but don’t live in London anymore, this is pretty much the perfect time to
go home and join up with old friends at Call the Office. I checked out the
astral signs, I’m sure on this one.
We’re sharing the bill
with a great Toronto band called “Arietta,” and two
awesome locals who some of you may be more familiar with than I, “Mixtapes”
and “Say Domino.”
Londoners, this is an
ALL AGES SHOW and also pretty much the best night of the year to go see
a show (also written in the stars).
See you there, with bells on (literally,
if I can find some).
Street Food
I wish I had more
time to discuss this one, but I’m out the door to Brazil in twenty minutes….woohoooooooooo.
oh right street food.
NYC vs. Toronto
Hot Dogs
– Toronto
Everything else – New York
And by everything
else I mean you can get kick ass tacos and the like on the damn street in
Brooklyn. Toronto, wake up and smell the beans - let’s get some more ethnic
foods out on the street. I’d kill for a good Roti stand on every corner.
Yep. Kill, okay maybe I'd only maim.
Apparently Toronto is testing out
some street foods other than hot dogs, and I’m salivating at the thought.
Okay enough about food.
Toronto Acoustic showMy
good friend from London, Jim Macdonald, has asked me to join him at
Mitzi’s
Sister on
July 6th. I will be trying out some new
material, and I believe a couple of the gents from the band have expressed interest
in chiming in on some lower key instruments. We will be harmonizing. It is
going to be epic.
Hope everyone is enjoying the weather, talk soon.
Keep listening
