Ride For Dime 5 – Ride Information
Location and Time:
Sunday, August 16, 2009. The starting point for the ride will be at Longhorn Harley-Davidson/Buell located at 2830 W Interstate 20 Grand Prairie, TX. We will begin staging the bikes at 12:30 PM. The ride will depart at exactly 2:30 PM under a Police escort. The ride this year will be 38 miles long and will end at The Palladium Ballroom located at 1135 S. Lamar in Dallas. We are scheduled to arrive at 3:33 PM.
Ride Route:
There has been a change in this years ride. In previous years the ride would pass in front of the cemetery gates of Moore Memorial Gardens, but this year we will be passing in front of the guitar legend’s house and studio in Dalworthington Gardens. Big props go out to Rita Haney for allowing this to happen.
Once we leave Dalworthington Gardens we will then head south to I-20 east to Dallas. We will exit I-20 east to US-67 north, then on to I-35 north to downtown Dallas, and then to Lamar St. to The Palladium. A detailed map of the ride will be available at www.ridefordime.com and www.myspace.com/ridefordime.
Riding Tips:
It will be very hot, so be sure to dress appropriately and bring your sun screen along.
Bring water if possible and hydrate yourself before we depart. It is very easy to get dehydrated while riding in the Texas summer heat.
Make sure you have enough fuel for the ride. Fill your tank before the ride. The ride is only 38 miles long but will seem longer than that if you run out of fuel.
We want everyone to ride with your lights on. Not only does it look cool but will help other drivers to see you.
While on the freeway we will be riding in a staggered formation and will be in single file as we pass Dimebag’s house.
Always give cars the right of way! In most cases cars just want to change lanes. Keep a safe distance from the bike in front of you.
No hot dogging!! This is a remembrance ride and should be treated as such.
Absolutely no drinking of any alcohol beverages of any kind before the ride. If you drink, you don’t ride!
Safety is our number one concern during the ride.
