Why? World (and Lunar) Domination is back.
Hello Fine Automobile Maker,
I'm writing to you & other fine auto manufacturers today to express my concern for some of your fine vehicles. I have recently noticed that over the years, I may have been neglecting to pick up on a small problem with cars, trucks, and everything in between. It seems that something that you may not notice all that often is unfortunately all too common indeed.
I believe that there may be a problem with the turn signals on about 50% of the cars driven in & around the Southwestern Pennsylvania area. I'm not sure if the problem is in the switch, with the bulbs themselves, the fuses, or the wiring in between... but there is most certainly something wrong. There can't possibly be that many drivers out there who are unaware of the laws concerning usage of their turn signals, and ignorant of how to operate them in their vehicle.
I mean, the first issue is easy enough. I certainly knew this even before I ever attempted to obtain my PA state driver's license. It's also outlined quite well in the PA driver's manual. The second issue, I'm sure that when your motorized machines are purchased from a dealer and come with an owner's manual which everyone is instructed to read before they operate. And, most used vehicles come with the manual, or they're easily obtainable online. I mean, everyone reads their owner's manuals, right?
All of this has brought me to the conclusion that faulty turn signals must run rampant in the automotive industry. Please, don't feel embarrassed. I have noticed this error across all platforms... manufacturers, models, makes, & years. You are not alone. Perhaps the turn signal engineering pool is a small one to pick from. I've never really seen any college courses for that. Maybe the fact that "we've always done it this way" is rearing up to bite your collective posterior. It's 2006 my friends, and it is indeed time to forge ahead on the frontier of properly functioning turn signals. The QC checks must also be examined, to see why so many faulty products go out the door unnoticed. Situations where a turn signal is appropriate yet it will not function properly can be very dangerous and life threatening. I have narrowly avoided potentially hazardous situations myself many times here in the fine city of Pittsburgh.
The turn signals in my Subaru Outback function quite well. In fact, I use them multiple times daily... and have even successfully changed the light bulbs myself. My girlfriend's Scion xA seems to have no problem where the turn signal is concerned. My dad's Ford Explorer seems to only work sometimes when I'm following him, and almost never when he follows me.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and look forward to a response addressing my concerns. I'm sure that you will find a solution, if you don't already have one in mind. There are many accidents to be averted, and lives to be saved!
Yours Observantly,
