Why do bands insist on naming themselves things when they haven't researched to see if there's another band out there with that name?
- If you sign up for MySpace, and have to put anything in the url that's not the name of your band... and the short url that you want doesn't belong to an individual...
- If the band name you want is already taken in .com or .org. or .whatever...
- If a band at purevolume has your band name...
RENAME YOUR FUCKING BAND.
(...or production company, or record company, booking agency, or whatever.)
WHEN WILL PEOPLE LEARN TO USE THE INTERNET?
You'd think it would cross your mind that when http://www.myspace.com/yourintendedbandname is already taken as a short url, and that you so creatively go for http://www.myspace.com/yourintendedbandname1 ...you might speculate that there's another band out there operating under that same name... and in the off chance that one of you should gain noteriety... you ought to think of a different name... especially if they existed first.
It's even better if it's already a well established band. I've seen bands name themselves after people who have shit for sale on Amazon. WTF? THINK.
It blows my mind that supposedly creative artist-type people don't think of things like this... or have the desire to be different.
Shit. Do a Google.
Also, your ass should get the .com of your band name right away.
In 2006, this just seems like a logical progression.
Use the search box below if you can't go to Google, or don't have the Google Tooblbar, and haven't read (or can't read) the Google Guide.
