Wow, alot has happened to catch up on news... I know this was originally set up for BOOKISLE news but most associate it with me (Cy aka Carolann) so here's a personal note.
During a CT scan in April, a small 'mass' was found on my right kidney; so GP referred me to Urologist who refered me to a Surgeon who was on vacation.... so I wait. I attended the RT BOOKLOVER's convention and kept up with work to keep the nerves calm. (Public heartfelt THANK YOU to friends, family and co-workers for their patience and assistance when I needed it!)
After checking my scan, Surgeon scheduled me for (get this) a hand-assisted laproscopic partial nefrectomy (forgive spell check if it got it wrong). Telling me it would be 2-4 days in UW Madison Hospital (2 hr drive from home). It was actually a week and dear hubby came to visit every day. I came home Tuesday night with instructions not to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk. (Imagine my distress that someone else had to do house cleaning -- NOT!) Actually the hardest thing was to drink the 8-10 glasses of water daily.
I came home from the hospital in time for July 4 holiday weekend. No picnics for me, but I did get to watch local fireworks on cable TV. Meanwhile, my mother-in-law who celebrated her 91st birthday just 2 weeks before went into the hospital with an infection not responding to medication. Dear hubby now had a different hospital to visit and within a week she died. June left 29 GREAT-grandchildren as well as friends, children and grandchildren who really miss her.
So, now it is the end of July, summer sun helps recovery seem nicer...I've been having a great time playing games on FACEBOOK (humm, maybe I shouldn't say that here?) but know it is time to get back to the 'real world' of filling book wishes for BOOKISLE customers and friends.
I this week I go for my "clearance" check-up and then no other medical treatments are necessary. I'm not back to 100% but then I previously needed more exercise that this has now forced me to add to my routine. This new routine will take some adjusting as I have a feeling I'm addicted to CASTLE AGE among other games and will want to add them, too. Can you game and exercise at the same time? (no Wii on the horizon)
Now it is time to plan for these events:
Michele's birthday (August 4)
BOOK ISLE's online anniversary (September 1)
Cy & Chuck's Wedding Anniversary (September 9)
Cy's 55th Birthday (September 16 - I've reached "country lane" speed limit!)
I hope you can all look back on your summer with pleasure or at least peace. May your plans for the near future include as much joy as I expect mine will.
