1) Most importantly, you must be hot, no exceptions. If you're not hot, you're not a gamer girl; just a girl who plays video games.
2) You must advertise that you're a female in all ways possible. The most popular way among the gamer girls is to post pictures of you half-naked or showing your cleavage. Remember, you're not a gamer girl if you're not showing your breasts!
3) You must use the less-than-three symbol (<3) and anime faces (^_^) EVERYWHERE. To be a true gamer girl, you have to spam cutesey things like that every chance you get.
4) You must act like gamer girls are such a minority, and since you're so rare, you are God's gift to all men. You must think all guys want you, and to even have your undivided attention for a small moment is a grand priveledge.
5) Also, you have to hate guys for making you the minority. It's completely THEIR faults that most girls would rather chase butterflies than orcs. Anyhow, guys suck at video games. Girls are sooo much better, woo!!
6) If you can't ever beat a stage, though, you can always just get a guy to do it. That's what they're there for, right?
7) If you lose to a guy, it's perfectly all right-- it's even almost cute. You're just a girl. What has become your reason to call guy gamers sexist pigs has NOW become an excuse, a crutch to lean on.

It's so sad that this has become the stereotype for female gamers. The worst part about it is that we as a gender are at fault-- we created it, not guys. Now, there is absolutely nothing wrong with embracing one's feminine side (I would be one hell of a hypocrite if I said guys can be masculine while girls cannot be feminine), but there is no need to advertise it like it's the most important thing about you. Isn't it funny how girls complain guys can't see us as equals, only as girls attempting to play video games? You whine because they treat us differently because we're girls, and then draw attention to yourself for being a girl gamer, and flaunt it everywhere. Guys who play videos games are just gamers, while girls who play video games have become gamer girls. You can't want to do away with a stereotype if you're the reason it exists.

Girls, this is embarassing. How can you expect guys to take us seriously if you're always begging them for help to win a relatively easy level? How can you expect them to take us seriously when we're giggling over Vent/Teamspeak just to hear ourselves speak? Or if we're spamming our Myspaces and Guild/Clan forums with pictures of us half-naked with a Wii controlled shoved in between our breasts? Or if we bitch about not being taken seriously because we're girls, and then when you suck, use being a girl as an excuse for sucking? While guys play games because they just want to play, girls act like they only play games to flirt and call attention to ourselves for being female. How can they take us seriously? How can they see us as equals if you keep TRYING to establish a difference between gender in the gaming world? And then, girls have the nerve to try to blame men on the stereotype WE have created! We say guys don't see us as equals because they're sexist pigs, right? They're not sexist, idiots. Grow a brain and realize they're only seeing things the way they are.

Amen, you cant hate an image of men as sexist gaming pigs and at the same time use it as a tool for getting them to do stuff you dont want to do.  Its insanely manipulative and really transparent to every man who plays the game for what it is and doesnt judge another player by their gender.  The guys who dont fit in this category are like the femal gamer skank, not worth knowing anyway so who cares if they /flirt back?

For every giggly  <3 helpless 'damsel in distress', theres 10 guys in ventrilo laughing at her or the dumbass shes tooling for items/gold/ or time spent levelling her skills.  10 girls too, count me as one of them. God have mercy on their souls if one ever ends up in my ventrilo, the mockery would be too grand to pass up.

You forgot
8. You must act like a total slut and flirt with every single male you come across. This gets you gear that won't help you anyway because you don't actually know your class because you have the guys you flirt with level your character for you. Tee-hee.

and

9. If you screw up and wipe a raid in a rediculous manner, it's okay, you're a girl.

Yes, as you can tell, I totally agree. I get so goddamn frustrated with this kinda stuff. I don't flirt back when guys see me as a pair of tits behind a computer screen, and apparently that's a problem. Heaven forbid that I have a boyfriend and I'm happy with him, and even if I didn't you wouldn't have a chance in hell with me anyway.

It gets rediculous and it seriously pisses me off.  It honestly ruins things for us girls that just want to play the game for fun (zomg games are fun?! no wai! I thought they were a dating service!).

Anyway, I appreciate where you're coming from 100%, feel free to bitch to me anytime you need to vent. LOL.

Merry Christmas!

Oh, and I forgot to mention the little mans syndrome. Me and one of my guy friends tested this the other day while teaching some newcomers Razorgore. I'd get on vent and tell them how to do it, they'd listen, try to contradict me, then do it the opposite way. Then my guy friend would get on vent and say THE EXACT SAME THING I had said in a different way and they'd be like "Dood, dats a gud idea, lolz!". I've been and officer in a few guilds and it seems that my vagina gets in the way of them believing I know what I'm doing.

/rant

Srsly now.

I did say something along the lines of asking if perhaps somehow my boobs were blocking my vocal chords, but I'm not sure if anyone understood what I was getting at, I am just a girl after all, tee-hee.
I was too amused by the entire thing to say anything without using sarcasm.

Hehe, I thought of doing that too. I should and make my boyfriend level an ally character with me. Draeni for the expansion sounds good.
Now to convince him to pay another $15 a month...

My kids have been avid gamers since before they could walk. Now 9 and 12, they've both spent hours in Morrowind and Oblivion, and they've used the construction set to design caves, dungeons and even AI characters.

The younger one is also very keen on cars, and spends ages on NFS Underground 2 (especially the modding and tweaking).

Oh, and they're both girls, but that's pretty much irrelevant.

:)  I've run into the same issue.  Being a girl and an officer in a guild - you don't get much respect - thats why I resorted to not being an officer and just voicing my opinion to officers through tells :P

And now - I just dont give a fuck :P   Now I just focus on doing a good healing job.  For some reason it makes it seem like we have something to prove and we're not some dumb ditz who doesn't know how to play her character.

<3 u Lawlz!!  Hope everything is going well.
