Yes On 8??

I usually don't get too involved in these things, but since people plastered there signs and bumper stickers all through my neighborhood, I feel I should "push" my opinion. "Yes on 8". First off, I don't see how this could possibly take away from the sacredness or sanctity of marriage. The bible teaches that sex before marriage is a sin, yet we want to tell two people that love each other to not have the right to be married….or in other words, "Go to hell". Is being gay wrong? At this time I would say yes, if they are having sex before marriage. So, all of us who have had sex without marriage can't cast the preverbal first stone.. We are also saying that if you are a murderer, rapist, or child molester, you can get married, because you clearly are more a productive member of society then a gay couple. If you have a drug habit, just tell the Dr., and he will write you a letter which allows you to stay home, not work, get welfare and an apartment for three dollars a month, because you are "sick". Meanwhile, my single mother daughter, works, while going to college and supporting my grandbaby, but is told she makes too much for any kind of help. No, this was not a tangent, it is a "what the heck are we doing?" statement. We tend to fight for some of the most ridiculous things and look the other way on others. We make excuses for people, like letting these drug addicts stay home instead of, "go to work or go to jail." When they are at home, what are they doing, probably plotting on how to break into your home, and get something of value. They are doing drugs, stealing, and fighting in front of innocent children. What's the worst thing that can happen if a gay couple breaks into your home…..it gets redecorated?!! Just kidding. But seriously, the fight that I hear people talk about is that this will take away from the sacredness and sanctity of marriage. Well where are your signs against those people who get married 5, 6, 7, 8 times. That is taking away. Where are your signs that protest the fact anyone can go to Las Vegas, get drunk, get married, and have it annulled the next day?? By a man who was "ordained" over the internet, dressed in an Elvis costume. Come on people, there is your mockery. That cheapens my marriage way more than two people who love each other and want to make a family. But they won't have that right will they? No, we will make sure our prejudices are pushed on them. We allowed African Americans to be equal, which did nothing but strengthen this nation, we allowed women to vote, which again strengthened this nation, but Damnit we are drawing the line somewhere, right?? And come on, do we really want Politics in a Religious matter?? Last time we did, they took prayer out of schools. Let the church decide if it wants to support or shun this matter, then we can choose which church we want to go to. And Lord help us if a church invites homosexuals in, teaches them about the word of God, and they decide for themselves if it is right or wrong, and end up going to heaven!! As far as "they will raise their children to be homosexual." Really?? Because all the "straight" couples who have children that are homosexual, surely did not raise them that way. Of course, I have uncles and aunts who are clearly prejudice, but when their children grew up, they married a minority. Why is that?? Because we don't control who we fall deeply and madly in love with! All the reasons I have heard on why not to let gay couples marry have been absolutely ludicrous…and not the rapper!! If you are afraid that this will make your marriage "weak", or "cheap", then I have a suggestion….Don't go out and vote, don't campaign…stay home and have a nice candle lit dinner with wine and roses, and make "your marriage" so strong, nobody can question its' integrity. If this offends anyone, let me know, at least then I'll know you read it!!! Anyway, this is my opinion, and opinions are like Buttholes…..everyone has one, and they are usually full of….Well you know!!! And remember, the real reason gays want to get married. Not for money, not for social status, not because " We have been dating since high school so we thought it was the right thing to do". It's because they want to live as a family, take care of each other, and be there holding the hand of the one they love when it is time for them to go.
