The DARFUR FAST FOR LIFE is an effort to keep pressure on world leaders, and specifically our president, to intervene to help the suffering Sudanese men, women and children in Darfur. We want leaders to stop dealing with the symptoms of genocide and address the cause-- a lack of oversight and clear guidelines for peace with consequences for breaking them.
A Fast with celebrities and members of Congress is one of the only ways activists have found to get media coverage on the atrocities still happening there. It also keeps the issue in front of global leaders who have the ability to intervene. Finally, fasters who take a stand of solidarity with the people of Darfur by fasting are also sending a message of hope to the people of Darfur that they are not forgotten and that we will not stop until they can live in peace again.

Just finished producing and mixing three acoustic tracks for Papa Roach at my studio in Nashville. The guys kicked ass at the Sommet Center along with Avenged Sevenfold and Buck Cherry. They had a couple of days off after the show so we had a great time catching up and recording. We’re all excited about how well “Lifeline” is doing at radio! #1 at Active Rock Radio and #4 at Alternative Radio! They’re album “Metamorphosis” is Top Ten Billboard. I’m so proud to be a part of it.
I’m also getting ready to wrap up production on Taylor Momsen’s (Gossip Girl) debut record for Interscope Records. I gotta tell you…This girl fucking ROCKS! She’s an incredible songwriter and has one of the coolest rock voices I’ve heard. She is insanely talented. That’s all I can tell you right now…but keep an eye out for her and her band PRETTY RECKLESS..you’re gonna be blown away!
I’m getting ready to go into the studio with Wind-Up Records recording artist IT’S ALIVE. They’re a really cool band that I just met recently. Killer songs and amazing vocals.
Finally, I’m happy to report that the next Sixx:AM record is going to surpass everyone’s expectations! We are working hard to make sure that it is better than the last and we’re extremely excited about it!

Nikki, DJ and I are in Atlanta writing songs for Sixx:A.M.. So far the new record is incredible, and while it's hard to imagine having more fun than we did making "The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack", if the last couple of days are any indication, I think we're gonna out do ourselves! For us, the success of Sixx:A.M. can largely be measured in terms of how much and how hard we laugh when we're together, and with that as a meter, we've already won!
Tomorrow we head to South Carolina where Motley has a show, and then on to Louisiana where there will be plenty more songwriting!
More soon!
JM
