Yesterday was an extremely busy day for me. I worked from 4:30 am until 9 pm. I usually am finished with work by around 4 or 5 in the afternoon. However, last night we held the second teleseminar training with Don Conrad. It was another fantastic training. If you're an Income for Life member and you didn't attend the free training, you made a costly mistake. I've personally implemented Don's strategies with my investments and noticed a significant change.
With my last vacancy, we evaluated over 30 applicants for the property. It took us two months and several showings to finally secure a qualified tenant. Recently, we implemented Don's system and quickly found a qualified tenant. In fact, we only had to check and investigate two applicants. His phone interview approach works like magic. Tomorrow we are signing the lease for our new tenant. We saved ours of time and now have a new qualified tenant! We still have two more training calls with Don. The next call is Tuesday, August 19th. This call is free to all Income for Life Members. You can get the call details from your local Income for Life Group.
After the conference call, I settled down on the couch to watch the Olympics with my wife. Aren't the Olympics fascinating? I truly admire every single athlete competing.
My wife and I were glued to the TV for the evening's swimming competitions. During one of the races, the camera settled in on a swimmer from the United States. And no, it wasn't Phelps. I had never heard of this swimmer before. They were doing close up shots before a race. In the close up shot, we noticed this one swimmer was literally shaking. His hands were shaking. Hell, his whole body appeared to be shaking. He was so nervous that he was shaking from head to toe.
Imagine preparing for four years to compete in an event that lasts two minutes! Imagine knowing that you have one shot to achieve your goal. Would you be nervous? I would. I probably would have had my head in a bucket getting sick.
I can still picture this swimmer in my head as I write this post. What I realized this morning is:
Life is better when your doing rather than watching.
Even though he was so nervous, I would have traded places with him in a second. Why? Because he gets to tell his kids and grandkids stories about how he competed in the Olympics. He gets the memories of of being an Olympian for the rest of his life.
I don't.
Now, I certainly can tell my kids and grandkids about watching the Olympics. They probably won't care very much. Anyone can talk about watching the Olympics. Only a select few can actually talk about competing in the Olympics.
This swimmer was willing to sacrifice hours of his time, day after day, to train and practice for his two minute race. He was willing to control his diet so that he was top physical condition. He was willing to make swimming his top priority in life. He was willing to do whatever it took to make it to the Olympics.
I wasn't.
Maybe we all can't be world class athletes. However, we can live World Class lives. We live world class lives by doing things, rather than watching other people do things. We live World Class lives by acting in spite of fear, shaking but taking action anyhow. We live World Class lives by setting BIG goals and then doing whatever it takes to achieve those goals. Life is in the "doing."
You can't live a World Class life on the couch with a remote control in your hand. You have to do something. You have to get moving and make something happen. Don't wait because time passes quickly. Do!
What can you do this week that will make you so nervous that you'll shake with fear?

The importance of having a mentor... The value of a mentor cannot be overstated. All great individuals in this country's history and in the history of the world have had a mentor of some kind. Whether they be an actual person or the implied mentorship that great books and simple observation can sometimes provide. One definition of a mentor which I find to be interesting is: Someone whose hindsight can become your foresight. Put simply this means to learn from others, specifically the mistakes of others. This can be done through reading and observing, but I would say is most effective through having actual mentoring relationships. Being able to learn directly from someone who has experience in whatever endeavor you are working toward is most definitely "short-cut" to success, if there ever were one. In the example of Income For Life probably the most important benefit for members is the ability to be mentored by wealth coaches with real life experiences. Experiences that cannot be realized through merely reading and observing. I cherish the relationships I have had and continue to have with a number of coaches and mentors. I owe these folks a debt that could only be repaid by passing on their wisdom through the mentorship of others. I would strongly recommend that regardless of your endeavor you identify a mentor with experience achieving whatever goal you are striving toward. Their wisdom is truly priceless and should be treated as such. So go out and get yourself a mentor with whom you can build a relationship, listen to and apply their wisdom, and you shall prosper! Investing in Real Estate is a big step for the first time investor. That is no question. Investing into a market that is being portrayed as being in a downward spiral by the media and the press is an even tougher decision. So how do you get over the fear of taking the plunge? Surround yourself with like minded individuals who are already successfully investing and follow their lead! In other word, do what works. The Income for Life membership includes people from all types of backgrounds and levels of investing experience. Many times, individual members can lose sight of the collection of knowledge at their fingertips; filling their time in different forays of research into the next “deal.†Once in a while, it is good to remind ourselves of the fact that we are lucky to be interconnected with the membership that we have. People can be a major asset to your wealth building goals. As an Income for Life member, you have the opportunity to learn from other members mistakes. You also can copy their successes, too! Masterminding with other like minded individuals will help you learn and see things from different perspectives. Feeling nervous about making such a large financial investment is only natural; being paralyzed by that fear is, more often than not, a rationalization of “sticking to the norm†rather than a well drawn out conclusion based on the facts at hand. Sometimes it helps to get approval for those decisions from some people who are making the same decisions regularly. Don’t take for granted the people you have surrounded yourself with! When your area has their masterminds group events, be sure to get involved and ask questions! I have found that our experienced investors are more than happy to share as much knowledge as a less experienced member can handle! Take the next step and use our membership and mentorship for your success! Apply for membership at www.IFLApplication.com. If your membership applications is accepted, consider getting involved in every mastermind opportunity available! Good News You Haven't Heard Have you heard of the S&P/Case-Shiller Index? It's the widely accepted and oft-referenced statisitical tool that keeps telling us what every American knows by now -- that real estate prices have dropped. The index was developed by an economist from Welleley College, Karl Case, and an economist from Yale College, Robert Shiller. Their method of taking recent sale prices of homes and comparing those prices to previous sales prices has become the "go-to" source for media reporting the real estate story. You've probably read at least an article or two that had the phrase "according to the S&P/Case-Shiller Index ..." somewhere in it. What you've probably not read is that one of the Index's creators, Case, believes home prices might be near bottom. In this outstanding piece on Smartmoney.com, Case notes that the decline of new housing starts has been extremely dramatic -- only 975,000 in April of this year compared to 2.27 million in the peak of January, 2006. Meaning inventory is dropping drastically. According to the Smartmoney.com story, Case commented: "Every time this has happened before, housing-market activity has rebounded within a quarter and caught experts by surprise. In many areas, particularly outside the overbuilt markets of Arizona, Florida and Nevada and the huge bubble market of California, home prices may well stabilize and begin to recover before the end of this year." So the guy who created the index that every reporter seems to point to as proof the sky is falling is saying that things are looking up. But have you read that anywhere? Probably not. Have you read that the Case-Shiller Index, which in March reported price declines in 18 of the 20 major markets it encompasses, showed price INCREASES in eight of the 20 markets in its recently released April report? Probably not. Have you read that the Index is also showing a slowing down of price declines? Or that the sheer volume of homes that fall into the subprime housing category -- which makes up only 10 percent of the total U.S. housing stock -- is skewing down home prices? Probably not. Why haven't you read those things? Because the media are not reporting those things. I used to believe that the whole liberal media bias thing was a myth. But recently I've been paying closer attention and, especially now that the presidential election year is in full swing, what is reported depends on the source of the reporting. There seems to be political agendas involved. Or news outlets just want to report bad news because those are the headlines that sell papers or get clicks. There is a great quote in the Smartmoney story by S&P/Case Shiller Index Committee Chairman David Blitzer, who seems to explain why you've never heard any of the good news: "Other than Larry Kudlow of CNBC, none of the journalists who interviewed me after the latest release seemed at all interested in any of the positive developments." So don't wait for the evening news or the daily newspaper or MSN.com to tell you things are getting better. Pay attention to your local market. Study the statistics. Watch the trends. Because if you want good news, unfortunately you'll have to find it yourself. Mike Sivula Income for Life Cleveland Josh Schoenly Income For Life Harrisburg & Metro www.FreeIncome4LifeBook.com

Want a guaranteed success formula? Find a system that is proven to work and then simply PERSIST. I say simply, but really this is where most people fall short. There are lots of people who have the knowledge or the systems to be successful in work, business, investing etc., but what separates those who succeed and those who fail is really just as simple as persistence. Think about this there are really only 2 main reasons that people fail in endeavors: 1. They don't begin 2. They're not finished Typically it's easy to begin an endeavor. You get excited maybe from reading a book, or going to a seminar, talking with someone, whatever it may be. You take some simple steps to get started, but when the first obstacle presents itself you turn tail, make excuses and throw in the towel. If you study history you will realize that every successful person regardless of era became successful more through persistence than any other trait. A modern example most can relate to is Donald Trump. When he was facing adversity and financial troubles in the 90's instead of throwing in the towel he PERSISTED and has become wealthier, more famous and more successful than ever. There are literally thousands of examples that you could cite, just go and find any biography of someone who was successful and there will be many examples of persistence throughout their lives. Will Roger's is quoted as saying "even if you are on the right track you'll get run over if you just sit there, so find the right track & PERSIST through action." What's great about the Income For Life Investing System is we give you the right track all you need to do to be successful is PERSIST through action! Things aren't going to be perfect, not every tenant buyer is going to buyout, it's not always going to be easy to fill a vacancy, you aren't going to become financially free overnight, but if you persist ultimately you will win, you will create success and you will achieve financial freedom! I'm sure many of you have heard that to achieve what you want in life you have to have goals and you need to write them down. Many of you may have even done this in the past. However I think there is a disconnect with actually making those goals come to life. So the question is how to get them from paper to reality. What most people fail to do is break their large goals down into smaller goals that are attainable and create momentum leading to the achievement of the larger goals. The easiest way to do this is to take your large goals, break them down into monthly, weekly and daily goals. For example lets say your goal was to lose X number of pounds over a 6 month period. Take X divide it by 6 for your monthly goal and then do the same for the weekly goals and lastly the daily goal. This is a great start, but it still won't maximize your results. Next you have identify what daily, weekly and monthly actions will help you attain the goals. A daily action for weight loss goals may be to walk or jog for a certain amount of time, or ride X number of miles or walk X number of steps. After you have your monthly, weekly and daily goals set you need to either type or write them down and post them everyhwere. On you bathroom mirror, on your night stand, on you car visor, toilet seat, planner, wherever you will see and read it. You should read these goals 5, 10 , 20 times a day or more. Following this guideline will help you reach your goals and achieve your dreams. There are many great books, CD's etc. with more information about goal setting and how to achieve them for those who are really interested and excited about this topic.

This may sound a little weird, but to change the results you are getting in your life you must change not just your behavior but also your identity. You might be thinking, so what the heck is the difference? Let me try to illustrate. If you were a smoker and you try to stop smoking you are just trying to change your behavior. Therefore odds are when you around others who are smoking you will be tempted greatly to smoke. However if you change your identity from a smoker to a non-smoker that situation will not have any effect on you. You must think not about changing just your behavior, but changing your identity. So instead of thinking, I am going to stop smoking, you must decide that you are a non-smoker. This may sound simple, but actually doing it is not. Learning to do this will allow you to make dramatic changes in all areas of your life: health and wellness, family, financially, socially and spiritually. Think about this all you need to do to change your identity is to change the way that you think about yourself and your current identity. This simple idea implemented properly can change your life for the better and forever.

So you are probably saying "I don' t have time to think let alone read". Try this little trick, go through the magazines or journals (I recommend Forbes, Business Week, Fortune, etc.) relevant to your business or occupation and rip out the articles that are of interest to you each month. Take those tear outs and place them in a folder you take with you in your briefcase or bag of any kind. Then whenever you are waiting for an appointment, or in traffic or just have down time take out you folder and read an article. You can apply this to book also. Get a paperback book (always buy paperback, the marketplace has already told you that it is worth of your time), tear out 50 pages or so at a time and do the same thing prescribed above. By doing this you should be able to read 25-50 books a year. With the average person reading just one book a year, do you think that you could gain a competive advantage by reading 25-50? This simple tip will help you have the best week of your life. If you can master this your life will be changed for the better forever. So what is this earth shattering tip? Try this on for size. Stop complaining! Here is your goal, try to go an entire 7 days (yes that is one whole week) without complaining about anything. I mean absolutely nothing. You are probably thinking wow this is really profound (enter sarcasm). You are probably also thinking, no one does that, this is crazy. Well you probably don't know of anyone who does this and that is also probably one of the reasons you are were you are and you are not more successful and wealthier. The simple fact is this, if you can master this one thing you life will be transformed forever. So how can you go about implementing this? The most important thing you will need to do is become aware of your thoughts. As you do this, when you hear your mind start to complain simply tell it "thanks for sharing" and switch your thinking to a positive thought. You control your thoughts, but to do so you must first become aware of them. For those of you who are thinking that a week is too long, start with 1 day and slowly work your way up to the 1 week plateau. Once you have reached a week continue to lengthen the time until it becomes you normal mode of operation. I wish you all the best of luck in your assignment, it will change your life.
