So as some of you know. A close friend of mine was murdered last night. Ive been sleep all day trying to get rid of the anger, rage, and hopelessness that I feel. Im trying not to affect my loved ones around me. But I cant shake this feeling. And my heart is heavy. I want to grab my gun and hunt down those responsible. But Im NOT. I know violence only begets violence. Ive learned it the hard way from the neighborhood I grew up in. Unfortunately this is not my first friend gunned down, R.I.P. Young Shaheed. Why do we have to kill each other? Hate on each other? Are we THAT insecure? Are we THAT ignorant? Are we THAT petty? Are we THAT threatened? I CANT STOP THE TEARS FROM POURING OUT OF MY HEART. I dont know why I decided to blog about this. I am not looking for sympathy. Im going to be alright. Tomorrow is a new day if it is in GODs plan. I just feel lost. And dont know what else to do. My heart goes out to his family. And his father Big Willie who is an incredible man. He has always been there for me and anybody else who has needed him. He told me before I ever booked a gig. That when I make it big he wants to be my driver. There was no reason for him to believe in me. But just like the rest of my neighborhood HE DID. I truly cant imagine the loss of a son. He didnt deserve to die that way. I know GOD has a place for you in eternity. Hold it down my brother until I get there. R.I.P. Lil Will

For those of you that don't know, the movie is showing for at least a week from Friday, October 24th. Make sure you go see it today. We are very grateful for all of the emails, letters, and comments...wow! From Patrick Ian Polk: Hey all:
NOAH'S ARC: JUMPING THE BROOM broke the Friday night box office in a big way. Most shows from mid-afternoon on were sold out, and midnight showings were added in all theaters. DC moved the movie to a larger screen to accommodate more patrons. NYC and ATL have added 2nd screens showing NOAH at their theater.
We beat High School Musical 3! Ok, it was at the Chelsea Clearview BUT it was by a huge margin. Noah's Arc grossed more than 8 times what High School Musical 3 grossed! If all goes well tonight and tomorrow, we are on track to beat the per screen averages for "Changeling" at $10K per screen and Synedoche (Charlie Kaufman's new movie) at $5k per screen. If these numbers hold up all weekend, we are looking at an amazing opening weekend box office performance, with a per screen average higher than any films in exclusive release (including Changeling, Synedoche & Passengers, and the foreign films- I've Loved You So Long, Roadside Romeo, Let The Right One In)- which is HUGE.
The theater in Los Angeles, the Sunset 5, mentioned that many people who saw the film last night thought that NOAH'S ARC was "one day only"- which is a bit alarming. So we need to do whatever we can to spread the word and continue to sell out the theaters through Sunday and beyond! With these kinds of numbers, the movie should stick around in these 5 cities next weekend, and this should be a nice wake-up call to the powers-that-be in Hollywood- NOAH'S ARC has a huge fan base and it shows. Anything you can do to spread the word, please do. Greatly appreciated!
Thanks! PIP

CHICAGO SUN TIMES OCT 20 Jennifer Hudson accepts her award Saturday from actor Jensen Atwood (right) at Chase Auditorium. Hudson later serenaded lifetime achievement honoree Sidney Poitier (inset). (Oscar Lopez, for the Sun-Times/AP) One film fest honoree serenades the otherOctober 20, 2008 BY MISHA DAVENPORT mdavenport@suntimes.com Hollywood's gilded past and bright future were both honored Saturday as Oscar winners Jennifer Hudson and Sidney Poitier accepted awards at the Chicago International Film Festival's 12th Annual Black Perspectives Tribute. Hudson, a Chicago native who took home an Academy Award in 2007 for her debut performance as Effie White in "Dreamgirls," kept her remarks short when she accepted a trophy for artistic achievement. "There is nothing like being at home and being received by your own," she told the sold-out crowd of 525. She returned at the end of the evening to serenade lifetime achievement honoree Sidney Poitier with a soulful rendition of the title track from his 1967 film "To Sir, With Love." The 82-year-old actor took questions from Johnson Publishing chairman Linda Johnson Rice and reminisced about filming "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" with screen legends Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn: "As I was looking at them and talking to them, I was saying in my head: 'Oh, my God! Here I am talking to these two great actors.' I couldn't remember my lines." Poitier ended up having to shoot the scene with a stand-in for the actors. He was humble in accepting the award. "I thank you for the opportunity to speak with you face to face," he said. "Now you know enough about me that you will be completely tired of me very shortly, but the fact remains I shall never forget you."
