Once upon a time, I was drowning in laundry (the most dreaded job EVER!) and, feeling totally and completely overwhelmed by the mountain of dirty clothes, declared to the listening audience (which happened to be only the dog) "When **I** am elected Evil Queen of the galaxy, laundry will be ILLEGAL!" Somehow the title of Evil Queen stuck--I think because I suggest horrid things to people like eating fresh fruit & vegetables, doing pleasurable physical exercise and--for stuck or blocked writers--to try writing at the grueling pace of 4.17 words per hour (get it up to 6.25 and you can have 8 hours of sleep) for 100 days in a row. At the HBA RWA meeting, Terri Richison and Ann Peake surprised me with a coronation. Too much fun! The photos are posted at my facebook page:http://www.facebook.com/jessicatrapp

With a thread-bard ripped up nightshirt and my contest Diva tiara I went to the 6am "Pleasures of Sin" Nia class as Prideful Sloth. Tina went as Gluttony and Laura was Greed.
Fun, fun way to wake up and get your body moving!

I'm looking very forward to tomorrow's 6am Nia Class. (Nia is a low impact aerobic exercise class that incorporates martial arts, yoga and dance.)
My instructor sent an email today that said:
PLEASE join us tomorrow for the ULTIMATE in PLEASURE at 6 a.m.! To celebrate the release of Jessica's newest book, The Pleasures of Sin, we are focusing on the 7 Deadly Sins in class on Friday!!! You are invited to find some pleasure in and dress like your favorite sin. One that you love, don't love, admire, want, wish someone you know had more of/less of, etc... even a scarf to represent it will do! Your *favorite* sin, your way:-) It's Nia! Relax!! We'll be "acting as if!" Here are the sins (in no particular order): lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride We will be co-teaching this fun class. The routine we've concocted is a mix of all kinds of music, most of which has been a recommendation from you guys! We are VERY excited about it!

West Houston Romance Writers of America is hosting a writing workshop on May 9 with Laura Griffin. www.whrwa.com
Sounds FUN!
Suspense Techniques to Make Any Book a Page Turner No matter what your genre, you must captivate your reader’s attention from the very first page. Romance author Laura Griffin shares suspense writing techniques that will help writers of any genre hook their reader’s attention early and keep turning the pages.
Laura Griffin started her writing career in the basement of the Vanderbilt University Student Center, where she edited the campus paper. After graduating from Vanderbilt, she took a job as a newspaper reporter in the Chicago suburbs, then moved to the Philippines, where she wrote travel
articles, before returning to her native Texas. Laura grew up in West Houston, graduated from Stratford High School, and now lives in Austin, where she is a founding member of the Hula Hut Girls Book Club.
Laura’s debut novel, ONE LAST BREATH, won the 2008 Booksellers Best Award for romantic suspense. She is currently working on a romantic suspense trilogy, for Pocket Books, that will kick of this fall with the novel UNTRACEABLE.
