Friday. February 5th!- Don't miss the sweet Worldwake release party on Friday February 5th. The release party is another sealed event. We are taking sign ups for it now and everyone that plays in the release party will be able to purchase a box of Worldwake on the SUPER-CHEAP! Registration starts @ 5:00 and the game starts at 7:00. Expect to stay and play all night. PRIZES?? Of course there are prizes.
Don't forget that FRIDAY, Feb 5th is the day that Worldwake goes on sale. Fat Packs are already in short supply so be there wen we open at 11:00 am to get yours.

This email is going out to everyone who supported me back in July when my comic BLOODY PULP was up at Zuda.com. Well, as of noon today, I've got another comic in the competition. It's called Aliens vs Ninja vs Samurai (the title negates the need for a indepth synopsis). It's a fun, animated, action-adventure written entirely in haiku. The story's by me with art by Darrin Stephens. Like July, the rules are the same, we need people to vote, rate, favorite and comment on the comic. The comic that gets the most votes (and everything else), earns a contract with DC Comics and gets paid to continue their story online. I believe all of you registered at the site the last time around so if you have a moment and like what you see, please throw us some support. Thanks!

Be sure to visit www.seacoastgamers.com to get all the details and rules for the Jetpack Comics Tale of Gamers. The Jetpack Comics Edition starts Saturday February 20th. We will have people at the store from 10am - 4pm so make sure you get your army there for credit!
Here is how points will be earned:
* 1 Point - Completing 250 pts of your army (At least 3 colors and base finished!)
* 1 Point - Winning your 1 on 1 battle with your army. (Opponents decided that day)
* 1 Point - Best paint job (To be voted on by everyone participating)
* 1 Point - Most original piece (Mods are cool. Again voted on by everyone participating)
* 1 Point - Best basing (Voting as above)
We will go 4 months and finish off with 1,000 point armies. If you hit your 250 pt goal you will earn 10% off Warhammer stuff that day at Jetpack! Winner overall will be something super cool based of how many people we have! The more people that sign up, the bigger the prize!

2) Daledo's Comic Book Reviews -
No one loves you like DALE loves you!
Daledo's Comic Book Review #294 - Not much to say.

I don't have a whole lot to say this week. Mass Effect 2 is awesome and work sucks. So basically it's the same as usual.

On to the reviews:

Green Lantern #50 by Geoff Johns, Doug Mahnke and Christian Alamy

The Lowdown: The last issue of Blackest Night led to some crazy stuff. Ganthet duplicates the power rings of each tribe in order to deputize members of the different corps to thwart the Black Lanterns until the full corps arrive. Ganthet becomes a Green Lantern, Barry Allen becomes a Blue Lantern, Mera as a Red Lantern, Lex Luthor becomes an Orange Lantern, Scarecrow becomes a Sinestro Corps officer, Atom becomes an Indigo Tribesman and Wonder Woman becomes a Star Sapphire. The only problem is that they might not all be enough to stop Black Lantern Spectre. That's where issue #50 of Green Lantern leaves us.

What Happens: Everyone is kicking ass and taking names until Black Lantern Spectre shows up and wants to merge Hal Jordan with himself again, at one point making Hal a Black Lantern. Hal eventually gets freed from the clutches of Spectre and then comes to realize that the only way he'll be able to take him down is if he once again becomes Parallax.

Should You Buy It?: Issue #50 of Green Lantern was amazing. It's got a badass story. There were so many moments that I said out loud "That's awesome." Doug Mahnke's art in this book was incredible. I've been a fan of Mahnke's for a few years now and it's nice to see him getting such important work and knocking the ball out of the park. He had a few amazing splash pages in this issue, including one that featured all of the individual corps members and the newly deputized members. This issue was great and it easily gets the Daledo Seal of Approval.

Kick-Ass #8 by Mark Millar, John Romita Jr. and Tom Palmer

The Lowdown: There isn't a comic more deserving of the title "Kick-Ass" than this one. This is the most violent, over the top comic, and I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I love it. I mean how many other books do you know that say "When Titans Pimp-Slap!" right on the cover? This book has been turned into a movie and the movie is practically almost finished and it almost beat the book by coming out before the last issue of the story. The movie is due out on April 16th, and if you haven't seen the red band trailer featuring Hit Girl, do yourself a favor and look it up on Youtube.

What Happens: Kick-Ass and Hit Girl team-up to take down John Genovese, a big time gangster who killed Hit Girl's father, Big Daddy. Lots of violence ensues, including action with flamethrowers, table legs, pistols, katanas, meat tenderizers, cleavers and quotes from the Ever-Loving, Blue-Eyed Thing.

Should You But It?: This book has been amazing and it looks as though that we might get more "Kick-Ass" in the future, but first we are going to get a new book from Mark Millar and Steve McNiven that looks pretty damn violent itself and it's called "Nemesis" and the "Kick-Ass" movie looks pretty cool. This book easily gets the Daledo Seal of Approval.

Daledo's Comic Book Review #293 - Mass Effect 2

This week marks the release of the highly anticipated game, Mass Effect 2. If you didn't play the first one, it was released exclusively for the Xbox 360 and PC. It's an action shooter/RPG that takes place in space. The story was amazingly well written and the decisions you make can have a drastic effect on the outcome of your game. If you are looking for a great game to play, pick up the first Mass Effect. You can find almost anywhere for $20. Then pick up Mass Effect 2 this week, and if you want to complete the story up to date, make sure you grab the Mass Effect comic, sold at your friendly neighborhood Jetpack Comics.

On to the reviews:

Green Lantern Corps #44 by Peter Tomasi, Patrick Gleason and Rebecca Buchman

The Lowdown: The Green Lantern Corps has been on Oa, defending the Power Battery from the onslaught of Black Lanterns. During the attack, Kyle Rayner made the ultimate sacrifice. Guy Gardner found out and immediately filled with rage, so much so in fact that he became a Red Lantern. Kyle was revived by a Star Sapphire because of the love between he and Soranik. Now, Kyle has the duty of getting the Red Lantern ring off of Guy, and at the end of the last issue, Mogo, the planet that is a Green Lantern, showed up for support.

What Happens: Kyle tries to stop Guy from continuing his rampage, even though it might not be the most sound battle strategy, and Mogo begins its "battle plan" in support of Oa and its fellow Green Lanterns.

Should You Buy It?: This issue was absolutely awesome. Guy Gardner as a Red Lantern could possibly be the most badass character in comics ever. Some of the things that he was doing with red ring were downright insane. If you thought that Guy was a badass before, and let's admit it, he was, you haven't seen anything yet until you read this issue. Patrick Gleason did some amazing work in this issue, including two splash pages, one being a mind blowing splash page of Guy coming at you head on with both his green and red rings on. Absolutely badass. This book gets the Daledo Seal of Approval.

Captain America #602 by Ed Brubaker, Luke Ross and Butch Guice

The Lowdown: This is the first issue of the proper Captain America series in a while. The book took a hiatus while Reborn was going on, except for a special #601 issue. I know that Reborn is still going on since the last issue doesn't come out until this week. Do I see a problem with the story being told out of order? Initially I did, but know that the cat is out of the proverbial bag; I don't see the point of waiting around for Reborn to finish when they've already gone ahead telling the story of what happens after Reborn.

What Happens: 1950's Captain America has been up to something on the outskirts of Boise, Idaho and Nick Fury let Bucky know after he gave him a new arm. Bucky and the Falcon go and investigate what's going on and Bucky attempts to go undercover to find out what's happening on the inside.

Should You Buy It?: I'm still kind of amazed that in Captain America, they let Bucky be Captain America, but in other books, mostly the ones revolving around Siege, Steve Rogers is Captain America again after he said he wouldn't be. Confused? Don't worry. I am too. Regardless of that messy situation, it's nice to see Brubaker back to the way it used to be writing Captain America and not having to tie it into something big and being able to do his own thing. Don't get me wrong, Captain America is my favorite character, but I hate the feeling that he's being shoved down my throat by Marvel in every book I read. It's almost like he's the new Wolverine or Deadpool. Anyway, this book gets the Daledo Seal of Approval.

Week of JANUARY 18TH, 2010 - Volume 1 #188 - Finally a WEEK CHOCK FULL OF COMICS!

PORTSMOUTH SCHOOL LOOKING FOR COMIC ARTIST FOR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
Here's the details that were passed on to us. If you fit the criterea then get in touch with them.

The New Franklin School, In Portmouth is fortunate enough to have enrichment courses offered through the Portsmouth Education Partnership (PEP), a group that raises funds for after-school activities at the three elementary schools in town.

They are now lining up classes for the spring session and would like to find a comic book illustrator to teach a class.

The class content, grade level and number of students varies. The school has grades K-5, but this course would perhaps be limited to (3rd?,) 4th and 5th graders (ages 8-11).

The classes will be offered on Wednesdays from 2:45-4 PM at the school starting March 10 through April 21 (7 weeks).

Daledo's Comic Book Review #292 - Snow

As I look out my window right now, I see that the snow is coming down pretty well. As a kid, I used to love snow. I'd go out and play in it and it would also allow me to have the day off from school most of the time. Now, I don't like the stuff at all. Now it means I have to go out and shovel and it makes for a sucky commute. Maybe this is all part of growing up.

On to the reviews:

Invincible Iron Man #22 by Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca

The Lowdown: Invincible Iron Man has been absolutely amazing since the start of the "America's Most Wanted" story arc. Tony Stark has systematically erased his brain so Norman Osborn couldn't get to the sensitive information that was inside his head. With all of that information gone, Tony Stark needs to be "reformatted". In the last issue, Tony had the procedure all laid out as to what had to happen for the operation to be successful, including some help from friends the likes of Captain America and Thor. The problem was that for some reason, the procedure wasn't successful and no one knows why. So it was time that they called in another doctor to help Tony Stark.

What Happens: The hideout in Broxton, Oklahoma gets compromised when Ghost shows up and Captain America goes and gets some help from another doctor.

Should You Buy It?: Invincible Iron Man is probably the best monthly book Marvel has going for it right now. Everything, including the Avengers book has seemed to hit a lull, but Invincible Iron Man is still going strong thanks to Matt Fraction's blockbuster writing style and Salvador Larroca's incredible art. With few bright stars in the sky of mainstream comics, Invincible Iron Man is definitely one of it's brightest. This book gets the Daledo Seal of Approval.

Week of JANUARY 11TH, 2010 - Volume 1 #187 - Bring back the SANDBOX! Help us get them back!

THE SANDBOX & Big Jim are GONE. Why bother to listen to WFNX?
WFNX has given me a reason to buy an I-Pod adapter for my car. With the demise of the Sandbox and Big Jim's show there is no longer a reason to listen. Reports have it that the best part of today's show was Big Jim's report from Sunday's Patriots game.
HEY WFNX PEOPLE IN CHARGE - If I wanted to hear the same 25 songs played repeatedly I'd listen to one of the other radio stations out there.
Every few years WFNX has managed to disappoint me by getting a decent morning & afternoon show going, only to trash them and start over. It's every 2 years like clock-work. Then there's a lull where I hate the station and slowly they build up someone else.
This time is the worst though. They've gone from being a station that made me laugh out loud to "The No Nonsense Breakfast show". A humorless morning show with no personality. Until now FNX was always a personality. WFNX has always represented cutting edge music with cutting edge, over the top humor. Now they are another homogenized radio station just waiting to be bought up by a conglomerate or another radio station counting down the days until they shut down.
I have been a loyal FNX listener for more years than I can count. I might continue listen on and off for a while but if nothing happens I am gone. There just isn't a point in listening to something that I can do a better job of on my I-pod. Radio needs personality to bring listeners in. Independent radio needs a big, loud personality. It's independence needs to shine. Otherwise it's not independent. It's just the same!
Being able to advertise on FNX was like a dream come true. Now I think my ads represent the only funny part of FNX, and they were produced by Big Jim and the Sandbox. So please! 2) Daledo's Comic Book Reviews - No one loves you like DALE loves you!
Daledo's Comic Book Review #291 - First time in a long time.

For the first time in a while, I was excited to watch professional wrestling last week. Hulk Hogan was making his debut on TNA last week and Bret Hart hosted Monday Night Raw. Not only did Hogan make his debut, but lots of other wrestlers who have been around also made their TNA debuts last week. I think what made it so good was the fact there was serious competition for the first time since Vince McMahon bought WCW. Since Vince bought WCW, WWE hasn't exactly been putting out a quality product, kind of like Madden every year since EA bought the exclusive NFL rights. For anyone who actually likes professional wrestling, this might be the start of another heyday of professional wrestling.

On to the reviews:

Siege #1 by Brian Michael Bendis, Oliver Coipel and Mark Morales

The Lowdown: It's time for another Marvel event book. This one has supposedly been seven years in the making. It's been seven years since Brian Michael Bendis has taken over the Avengers and it looks like Siege will assemble the core Avengers members for the first time in seven years. Siege looks to unite Thor, Captain America and Iron Man, hopefully to take down Norman Osborn. Osborn and Loki are in cahoots and their plan is to get Asgard removed from the landscape of Oklahoma.

What Happens: Loki and Osborn's plan comes to fruition has they plan an attack on Volstagg, and when you attack a god who might not know his own power, you get a disaster in Chicago very similar to the one in Stamford. This gives cause to Osborn's war on Asgard, and the war gets brought to the doorstep of Asgard.

Should You Buy It?: Siege is a big event for Marvel, and while the last one set up Osborn's Dark Reign, hopefully Siege will be the event that puts the Marvel Universe back to the way it was and have the Avengers be the Avengers, the good guys be the good guys, the bad guys be the bad guys, and the good guys fight the bad guys and not each other. Siege has got the big name talent of Brian Michael Bendis and Oliver Coipel on it. How can you not read this book? This book gets the Daledo Seal of Approval.

Weird Western Tales #71 by Dan Didio and Renato Arlem

The Lowdown: Weird Western Tales is one of those "dead' books that has been resurrected while Blackest Night takes a month off. Just like all the other books, Weird Western Tales continues with the numbering right where the original series left off. Basically it, just like all of the other books that are returning for the one time this month, deals with the characters that were in it when the series was running, but this time it deals with the characters as Black Lanterns.

What Happens: Joshua Turnbull, descendant of Jonah Hex villain Quentin Turnbull, is involved with the capturing of a Black Lantern Power Ring, and when that happens, the Black Lanterns quickly move in on the rings location.

Should You Buy It?: Weird Western Tales will hardly have any real impact on Blackest Night, but it's cool to see all of the western characters come back and be Black Lanterns. Also, the ending was pretty cool for all of you who are currently reading Jonah Hex. If you like DC's western characters, you should pick this one up for the novelty. This one gets the Daledo Seal of Approval.

Thanks again to all of you that have stuck with us this far and our condolences to those of you that have been caught up in the economy and can't afford the comic fix anymore. We're certain that this is going to be a great year for all of us and we'll get back on track. What's happening with Jetpack this year?

We are really going to start pushing you all to hook up with COMIXOLOGY. There is no reason not to. You can set up your subs and pulls, shop through the Previews catalog and share your passion with other comic fans. It's simple and will make your life much easier.

Over the next 2 weeks we are going to bring in a bunch of new fixtures and do a big rearrange of the store. We'll be defining our comic sections even better and making more room for the overflowing indy racks. With luck we'll finally be adding that 1500 additional square feet of space. In store game play will move to this new area while we add new sections of merch to the footprint of the regular storefront.

By the end of February we'll have our online store up and running. It might take us a while to properly categorize everything but you'll be able to see almost everything we've got in the store, including the back issues that aren't in the store. Online shopping with Jetpack will be a breeze!

Watch for our second location opening in a few months. We've got some work to do but the new location is gonna be killer and there's gonna be something in it for all of you as well (it's a secret) but you will like it.

Daledo's Comic Book Review #290 - Happy New Year!

With the new year upon us, I know that big things in the world of comics are upon us. We get the conclusion of Blackest Night within the next few months and we get the start of Siege this week. I love comics!!!

On to the reviews:

Blackest Night #6 by Geoff Johns, Ivan Reis, Oclair Albert and Joe Prado

The Lowdown: Blackest Night is the biggest thing going in comics right now. So much so that it was the only new book that got released last week. When we last saw Hal Jordan, he and the group of other Lanterns had made their way back to earth. Black rings were chasing Hal and Barry Allen because at one time they had been dead. The rings did get a hold of characters like Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Arrow though.

What Happens: Hal and Barry get away from the black rings and in the coolest part of the issue; new members get deputized for each corps for a twenty-four hour period.

Should You Buy It?: As always, Blackest Night is amazingly illustrated. Ivan Reis is one great talent, and now that business has started to pick up in the pages of Blackest Night, this book can't be missed. Unfortunately, there won't be a new issue of Blackest Night in January. What will happen though is that DC will resurrect dead series and put their series smack dab in the middle of Blackest Night. The one I'm looking forward to the most is Weird Western Tales so I can see my man Jonah Hex as a Black Lantern.

Daledo's Pick of the Week:

Siege #1: I can't wait to read this just on the fact that it will feature Captain America, Iron Man and Thor fighting on the same side for the first time in years.

Daledo's Comic Book Review #289 - Holiday aftermath

I hope everyone had a great holiday. I know I did. I put some smiles on some faces, I received some cool gifts, and I was able to spend some time with friends and family. It's not over yet though, as New Year's is later this week. So for all of those who do something on New Year's, have fun and be safe.

On to the reviews:

New Avengers #60 by Brian Michael Bendis, Stuart Immonen and Wade von Grawbadger

The Lowdown: The New Avengers book has been dealing with what almost every other Marvel book has been dealing with for the last year: Norman Osborn. There has been a little dissention in the Hood's ranks and it led to Dr. Harrow to make a piece of technology that siphoned away the powers of super-humans. It was used on the Avengers and it led to Luke Cage having a heart attack and needing surgery. Cage gave himself up to Osborn, hoping to get the surgery to save his life. He did receive the surgery, but as we saw in the last issue, it wasn't without cost as Osborn had something place on Cage's heart during surgery.

What Happens: Hank Pym and Doctor Strange shrink down to a small stature and they go inside of Luke Cage to get a closer look at what exactly is on Luke's heart.

Should You Buy It?: New Avengers has been a flagship title for Marvel since Bendis started writing it. Most of the crossovers in the last seven years have revolved around the Avengers. It's just one of those books that you should read because it always seems like big stuff is happening in it or it's leading up to the next big event, which is what New Avengers is doing right now; leading up to Siege. New Avengers is always well written and always has top-tier art, and this issue is no different. This issue gets the Daledo Seal of Approval.

Captain America: Who Will Wield The Shield? By Ed Brubaker, Butch Guice and Luke Ross

The Lowdown: I know that I've been complaining a lot lately about what's been going on with the bad timing involving Captain America, but this is ridiculous. This is a book which clearly states on it's cover that it's "the stunning aftermath of Captain America: Reborn." THE BOOK ISN'T EVEN DONE YET!!! I know that Marvel wants to get Siege out there on time, but story is being told way out of order. Granted, we all knew that Steve was coming back, and nothing up to this point has alluded to what actually happens at the end of Reborn, but this book is supposed to be the aftermath for a book that isn't even finished yet.

What Happens: We see Steve and Bucky debate separately about what should be done and who should be Captain America.

Should You Buy It?: The only thing that pissed me off about this book is that it does allude to what happens at the end of Reborn and it kind of spoils it a little bit. Other than that, the book was pretty solid. It does a good job of talking about what Steve Rogers means to his country and how much of an icon he is and how much respect that everyone has for him. Another small thing that ticked me off a little actually is the fact that Steve said that he wasn't going to be Captain America anymore and that it was Bucky's job, when we've already seen Steve as Captain America in two different books already. To me it seems like nobody at Marvel seems to know what's going on, or if they do, maybe the story would make much more sense if it was told in the order it was supposed to be in.

2) Daledo's Comic Book Reviews -
No one loves you like DALE loves you!
Daledo's Comic Book Review #288 - 3 more days

I only have three more days left in my holiday retail hell before Christmas and I'm glad it's almost over. Luckily for me, I have Christmas Eve off as well as Christmas Day so I can actually enjoy the holiday instead of loathe it, like I usually do thanks to the retail life. I think my New Year's Resolution will be to find a new job.

On to the reviews:

Green Lantern Corps #43 by Peter Tomasi, Patrick Gleason and Rebecca Buchman

The Lowdown: Just as you would expect from the Green Lantern Corps book, it is knee deep in Blackest Night. In case you missed it in the last issue, Kyle Rayner made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the central power battery on Oa. One of my friends, Ryan, is a huge Green Lantern fan, and his favorite Green Lantern is Kyle. Let's just say that he was pretty upset after reading the last issue. I probably didn't help things much by asking when the service was going to be. Regardless Kyle is dead. I knew what was going to happen in this story, as far as Guy Gardner becoming a Red Lantern, after becoming enraged after Kyle's death, so I was looking forward to this issue. Surprisingly, it turned out even better than I expected, and I expected the issue to be good.

What Happens: Guy Gardner does indeed become a Red Lantern and Natu attempts to revive Kyle Rayner.

Should You Buy It?: It's easy for me to say that this issue was freaking awesome, because it was. The rampage the Guy went on was bad ass and the attempt to revive Kyle Rayner was pretty damn cool as well. This was just a great book with lots of really cool moments, and it's one that you can't miss, expecially if you're following Blackest Night. If for some reason you are reading Blackest Night and Green Lantern, and not Green Lantern Corps, then you really should smarten up and pick up this book now. This book gets the Daledo Seal of Approval.

Captain America: Reborn #5 by Ed Brubaker, Bryan Hitch and Butch Guice

The Lowdown: After a slow start for this series, the last issue of Reborn brought a little something good to the table. The Red Skull's ultimate plan was finally revealed and the book finally started getting good, after Steve Rogers did his best Lost impression and was displaced in time for the first three issues. The Skull's plan was to actually place his mind inside of Steve Rogers' body, so he could say that Steve was back and rage havoc on America and destroy Steve's everlasting legacy at the same time.

What Happens: While Bucky fights a Red Skull mind controlled Steve Rogers on the outside, Steve fights the Red Skull inside his head.

Should You Buy It?: This series will have an impact on the Marvel Universe. In fact we've already seen it, with Steve Rogers showing up in three different books within the span of two weeks. To say that this series has been disappointing is a drastic understatement. Captain America is my favorite comic book character and I thought that the series so far has been a bit lackluster. As far as how big the effect will be on the Marvel Universe, I don't know. I question how well this series actually does because everyone has known for a while that they were bringing Steve back, and we've already seen him back in three books. Regardless, I am a hardcore Captain America fan, and this book is still a can't miss. This issue gets the Daledo Seal of Approval.

2) Daledo's Comic Book Reviews - No one loves you like DALE loves you!

Daledo's Comic Book Review #287 - Good going!!!

I just to say nice going Marvel for putting Steve Rogers in three different books within the last two weeks, before he's even officially been brought back. I understand that Reborn might be a little late, but maybe you should have held off on publishing those books until Rogers had officially made his comeback. It's just another of those small things that piss me off about comics sometimes.

On to the reviews:

Invincible Iron Man #21 by Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca

The Lowdown: As I've previously stated before in my reviews, and so has Ralph if you hang around him long enough, Invincible Iron Man is an awesome book. I know I just recently reviewed issue 20 of this series, but I don't tahink enough of you are reading this book. Matt Fraction's writing style is similar to a big blockbuster summer movie, and I mean in a good way, not a bad way. The action fits that kind of scale. So take that and add to it the fact that Salvador Larroca has the art chores on this book, and you'll begin to realize why this book won the Eisner award for Best New Series. I bet it won that before the Dark Reign stuff even happened, which has been some incredible stuff.

What Happens: Friends of Tony Stark all do their part in bringing the man back, which allows for one of the coolest things to happen in this issue.

Should You Buy It?: This book has been great and this issue is no exception. It really is one of the best books going today. I would highly suggest going back and reading the trades in case you missed the series. So take the fact that it's a great book on its own and add to the fact that it seems like it's a big book leading up to the events of Siege, as far as getting Captain America, Thor and Iron Man on the same side again. This book can't be missed by anyone that's a fan of mainstream Marvel. This book gets the Daledo Seal of Approval.

Ghostbusters: Past, Present, and Future by Rob Williams and Diego Jourdan

The Lowdown: So IDW has had the license for Ghostbusters for some time now. They will have completed their second mini-series this week, and last week the released this Christmas one-shot just in time for me, and my fellow Ghost Heads, to read it before the holiday. This has been a pretty good year for the Ghost Heads. The complete series of the Real Ghostbusters came out on DVD. The original movie was released on Blu-ray. The videogame finally came out after being pushed back many months. Lots of Ghostbusters merch was made available and a new comic series came out. Oh, and I met Dan Aykroyd. Not bad for the 25th anniversary of the release of the original film.

What Happens: A wealthy man hires the Ghostbusters to take down the Ghosts of Christmas Spirit, who come back and haunt him every year.

Should You Buy It?: This issue actually reminded me a lot of an episode of the Real Ghostbusters, where something kind of similar happened, but nonetheless, it was a good issue. If anyone is a fellow Ghost Head and is looking for something to put them in the Christmas spirit, then pick this one up. Honestly, who wouldn't want to spend Christmas with Venkman, Stanz, Spengler and Zeddmore? This book gets the Daledo Seal of Approval.

Daledo's Comic Book Review #286 - First snow

As you all know, we just received our first major snowfall of the year. Boy am I excited! Could you pick up the sarcasm there? You couldn't? As a kid, I used to love snow. I mean, who didn't? It would mean that school would close for the day and you could go outside and play in it. It's not quite the same for me now that I have grown up. It means shoveling the driveway, and crappy rides home from work. It means people coming in to my place of employment and just because it's going to snow four inches and people need to get all of their supplies like it's a foot of snow instead. The only thing it's now good for, for me anyway, is the fact that aesthetically, it looks good after a fresh snowfall and that we should have snow on the ground for the holidays.

On to the reviews:

Siege: The Cabal by Brian Michael Bendis, Michael Lark and Stefano Gaudiano

The Lowdown: For those of you who don't know, Siege is Marvel's next big event book, and this little one-shot, The Cabal, serves as a prelude to the main mini-series. The Cabal speaks of the group that Norman Osborn created after the events of Secret Invasion that included Dr. Doom, Loki, The Hood and what used to include Emma Frost and Namor. Since the events of Utopia, Emma Frost and Namor have since stopped being members of the Cabal. The main series seems to promise that it will be the return of Thor, Iron Man and Captain America working together again for the first time since Bendis disassembled the Avengers. Whether Captain America will be Steve Rogers or Bucky Barnes is yet to be seen.

What Happens: Taskmaster joins the Cabal and Norman Osborn puts it to the Cabal that Asgard needs to be overthrown and put back in it's rightful place away from Earth, and not hovering above Oklahoma.

Should You Buy It?: Well, that's an interesting question isn't it? In the pages of Thor, Asgard has already been overthrown and moved to Latveria, and it would seem that Doom has agreed to do Osborn's bidding. I guess what this book is doing is showing us how Dr. Doom got to the point that we see him in Thor, and it would better explain his actions, especially in the newest issue of Thor. All of this would be fixed if Marvel had not just any form of continuity at all, but if it told their stories in the right order. It seems to me that this issue is like at least six months behind the events of Thor, when story wise, it could only be a few weeks. The point is that we all ready crossed the moving of Asgard bridge in Thor. That makes not care so much about a book where Asgard is still in Oklahoma, even if the book is as good as this one. I would still read this book because there is something in it that will be relevant to the Siege mini-series and the book was still good overall. This book gets the Daledo Seal of Approval.

Thor #604 by Kieron Gillen, Billy Tan and Batt

The Lowdown: Hopefully you all read last week's Giant-Size Thor Finale or at least read my review of it. If you didn't read either of them, then now might be the time for you to skip ahead to my pick of the week. If you have read the finale, then you'd know it's not over and that JMS kind of left in the middle of things. You also might be confused with what happened in the events of Siege: The Cabal. Along with Invincible Iron Man, it looks as though Thor will be another huge book leading up to the events of Thor, since The Cabal dealt with the events that had already taken place in the pages of Thor months ago. Anyway, Bill, Kelda's mortal lover from Oklahoma, had learned of Loki and Doom's evil plot and was able to relay a message to Balder before his death. Also, Dr. Donald Blake had been the victim of an attack. Well, this issue of Thor picks up right where the finale left off.

What Happens: Kelda confronts Doom, Don Blake tries to figure out who sent the robots that attacked him, Bill gets a proper funeral, and Doom's plans are revealed.

Should You Buy It?: Thor has been a great book of late, and this book is no different. I'm not familiar with the work of Kieron Gillen, but this issue seemed to be pretty cool, not that he had a lot of room to do what he wanted. I wonder how much of this issue was his own ideas, and not JMS' or from editorial. Regardless, it was a pretty cool story and the art by Billy Tan was absolutely amazing. I always love seeing his art. I will miss Olivier Coipel drawing Thor, but it seems to me that I will get more of that in Siege, since he will be the one penciling the title. This is another that gets the Daledo Seal of Approval.

Invincible Iron Man #21: Sorry Ralph for stealing your thunder, but this book is the shizzle.
