Murphy's Law, is there anything else that can go wrong?

Karl Jackson and Joseph Doyle are stationed aboard Track 7, an outpost monitoring the traffic in and out of the solar system. When Karl wakes up with his nose pressed against a metal plank, he soon realizes that the lack of gravity is only the beginning of his problems.

Is gravity their only problem or is there more to it?

With the Oscar fever still burning, I couldn't resist to make some comments of my own. ;-)

Take a look at them here:

Current mood:  cheerful

For no particular reason, my oldest kid (8 y.o.) finished his round of exams one day later than his younger brothers. To make things more complicated still, that final test happened to be, yeah you guessed right: MATH! I'm not going to brag on how smart I think my kids are or anything like that, but rather to give my faithful blog readers a glimpse of how the mind of this author works. ..

I'm a huge movie buff, so obviously my kids are already introduced to my heroes: James Bond, Luke Skywalker, Indiana Jones. Just recently, after they discovered the "Rocky" video game at the rental store, I rented the original from the 70's and we sat to see that Oscar-winning piece of cinematography. They loved the fight sequence and most of all the theme song played while the Italian Stallion was running on the streets of Philadelphia or hitting meat inside a freezer room.

How is this related to the first paragraph? You have every right to ask.

As I was driving my kid to school we came across that particular tune, and what did we do?

I started shooting rapid questions: "6 times 4?!"

"20!" he replied.

"7 times 4?!"

"28!"

All this as we rocked our bodies to the music, he rose his arms punching the air and heaving very much like Rocky!

I just got word, or rather was officially notified that Chippewa Publishing LLC has closed its door.

I trust that Rebecca Pack, Chippewa's CEO will close all the company affairs in a satisfactorily manner to everybody involved.

As you know, Chippewa was the publisher of Treasure Hunt, thus becoming a milestone in my adventure as a novelist.

I will now begin to process to find a home for that story, so I'll use this channel to keep fans up to date.

This is not really a rant, just wanted to share my thoughts, so please bear with me on this one.

Yesterday afternoon I took the family to a big toy store. The reason: my two eldest boys had scored excellent grades and since we believe in rewarding efforts, me and my wife decided to present them with a toy. The lucky one turned out to be the youngest, since at 4 we don't get a grade report but we wouldn't have him only watch his brothers with new toys and him with nothing.

Anyway, while we were browsing the store, we came across a lot of tie-ins for movies. Of course, Pirates of the Caribbean had a full aisle toped with swords, customs, action figures, everything. I was amazed to find Shreck with several games that had nothing to do with the movie (I saw a bowling set where each pin had a character head, come on!).We also found a lot of Spiderman 3 toys: several action figures, a stuffed doll that sings the Spiderman theme and also the "Itsy-bitsy spider" song. Among other things I found cool Spidey motorcycles and even a Corvette.

But here's the thing: Isn't Peter Parker by far the poorest of the superheroes? Doesn't the movie make several points of how the kid must hide from the landlord and beg for salary advances?

I think they might be pushing the limit here, don't you think? I understand when I see the Bat-mobile, the Bat-plane and was even surprised at how they managed to make the Wonder Woman's "invisible" plane. But Spiderman/Shreck has none such possessions, so why bother?

The only reason I can come up with is that we, the consuming public, are so gullible that we will buy them and sticking to the canon be damned.
