I'm offering signed copies through the holidays, since people seem to like to give them as gifts. Details here:

Meanwhile I've dropped in to the main site with an update:

New article by me, up at Cracked, on the bizarre and downright chilling reasons we believe in monsters:

If you liked it, give it a vote on Digg:

Also, JDatE got a great review from the Onion AV club:

I think that one means more to me than the rest of them...

I wrote this ridiculous thing at Cracked about JDatE, should be an amusing if pointless way to spend your Saturday:

If you enjoyed that, you can give it a vote on Digg:

Meanwhile, the main site is updated with sequel talk and interviews,
etc:

There's a link to a podcast for my first-ever on-air interview ever. Plus, there's a web interview that includes a picture of me (the same one you Facebook friends have seen already, but still). Not really anonymous any more I guess.

Lots of stuff to go over, I'll continue updating that spot as long as people keep reading it I suppose.

Man, this has been a long fucking time coming:

Available now, everywhere. If they don't have it on the shelf, they can get it for you.

Meanwhile, the finale to the JDATE online alternate reality horror adventure:

Kind of an empty feeling, really. Seeing the thing in hardcover, and people reviewing it and such... I really hadn't planned beyond this point. And I mean my life; being a real writer guy was a childhood dream and that was pretty much it. I didn't dream of being a bestselling author, or being a famous author, or having books turned into movies or anything like that. I just wanted to write something and have people read it and treat it as a big deal.

Not sure where to go from here. Write another one, I guess.

I'm not unhappy about it, don't get me wrong. I'm not insane. Just that I really didn't think I'd make it this far.

New update:

I have by my count four interviews being set up for me to talk about the book. No way any of those will end in disaster. I just have to keep a lid on the racism, that's the big thing.

New update up, you know the drill:

Man those Amazon sales rankings rise and fall like the stock market:

5,000 one day, 40,000 the next. Pretty much never been so nervous about anything in my life.

Current mood:  thirsty
Is anybody still on Myspace? Or have all of you migrated to facebook? Since I'm talking to an empty room, can I just say anything? Like the fact that I didn't know what Kirkus was until I heard they gave us a good review, and that apparently they're an influential literary review publication? Man I just don't know anything about this business. I'm flying blind. I can't even link to the review, it's subscriber-only. Though I see that in the comments over at Facebook somebody has pasted pull quotes.

Anyway, new update up at the main site for the 40 of you who'll see this:

http://www.johndiesattheend.com/updates/

Getting close now. I can tell people the book is coming "later this month." First novel coming in hardback, positive reviews trickling in, everybody patting me on the back. It'll never be this good again. After this it's all business and tedium and failing to follow up on the promise of the first book. But right now, it's nothing but possibilities. Hell, maybe it'll catch on. Maybe it'll sell 20,000 copies, or 30,000. Maybe it'll wind up in the top 500 books at Amazon, and they'll have me come sign copies somewhere. Maybe I can pay off my car and the credit card. All those maybes out there, I get to treasure those now and never again.
