Greetings Friends and Foes,

A lot has happened since my last update but not that much has changed. I moved from Chico, CA back to The San Francisco Bay Area in hopes of finding money and stability to better enable me to do more performance and recording art as well as get it out there. But its a hustle. I've had work here and there but I'm still looking for a way to have a place and have time, energy and flexibility to write, record and tour. I have a way too long todo list of things I need to catch up on which includes blogging. I am in the bay area right now but I am looking at any options that might provide me with the stability/flexibility I need to take the next steps.

Having said that, progress has been and continues to be consistently made on my next album which is going to be a spoken word themed album. I havnt been playing many shows or done any touring outside of chico since the album release tour but I have been refining my craft at the bay area poetry slams. If you have never been to a poetry slam I would definately reccomend it. Good times. I've also been able to reconnect with old friends as well as some new ones.

So thats the jist of it. Thank you for checking my blog, I'm just learning how to do rss and god willing I will be getting a new, very bad ass, "notebook" (not laptop) that will increase my ability to achieve my wildest dreams.

Greetings All!

Come catch The John Staedler Band in the California North Valley this Summer as we prepare for our Fall Tour. Check the profile for dates or the flyer below!

On Saturday June 14th I am hosting a night of music at Has Beans where anyone can sign up to cover a song by another local artist/band. Email me with the name of the song and artist you want to cover and I will put you on the list. One song per performer/group unless we get through the list then we will start from the top. No repeats thus the list. First come first serve, list will go in order of when you signed up, show starts @ 8pm sharp. Should be fun. Invite all your friends to perform or just listen.

It's brought to my attention every so often that a lot of people other then the 10 people subscribed to this blog actually do check on it and read it so here's the latest.

The new double album is finally done. Well at least my part. Its called (The) Radical Love Frequency. Its getting mastered as I write this and the album art should done in the next few weeks.

I'm signing with a new and small independent label that I've been involved with here in Chico called Recrux Records. They have a skeleton of a myspace as well.

I am moving out of my house for the Summer and I'll be focusing on booking and promoting the double CD release party and tour as well as working to save money for it. If you have any leads or suggestions for shows, email me. I may also have a neat video releated side project for the summer but I'm not sure. If by some act of fate I do have free time and energy this summer I will be working on new tracks that I already have worked out for the somewhat distant next album.

I have a pretty awesome band and we will be playing a few select shows and festivals this summer, some which are not posted or confirmed yet, in the Chico area before hiting the Nor-Cal/Southern Oregon road in Sept-Early October.

Some of you have been asking about The 1 Hit Single music video we shot back in March. My good friend who shot it and will most likely be editing it has a full plate and is doing the whole thing for free so it might be a while before it materalizes but hey, Rome wasnt built in a day and neither was Chico.

Finally, I have posted a few new pics since the last blog, check them out if you so desire.

Greetings Friends!

This Saturday March 8th there are many wonderful things to come take part it.

1. The music video shoot for, "1 Hit Single" by John Staedler is taking place at 10am on this Saturday March 8th , at Farmer's Market (2nd and wall streets) in Chico, CA. The concept is a basic Busking (playing music on the street for money) video and everyone is invited to come be part of the audience in the that is needed for the video. 2. Shortly after the shoot there will be a dismantling of a giant Sand Mandala that Losang Samten (Tibetan monk and personal assistant to The Dali Lama) has built in The Bell Memorial Union (BMU) at CSU Chico. All are invited to come take a hand full of the sand and release it into the nearby river. More info and a pic of the mandala is available at http://www.mandalaman.org/

3. On Saturday night March 8th The John Staedler Band will be performing a show at The Crux Art Collective (www.cruxarts.com) on 1421 Park in Chico, CA. Additional performances will include Chico's very own sultry "Phiona Carousel" (myspace.com/phionacarousel) San Francisco's keytar-trombone-amazing "Pants Pants Pants" (myspace.com/pantspantspants) and straight from Tibet the Head of a 8000 year old music tradition Sonam Tashi (http://www.cruxy.com/store/achodanny)

I'm sorry the show got cancelled last weekend. I have been sick and I am still recovering. Also it was snowing and most of my band could not make it. I want to come and do a show in Arcata before school is over or at the very least this summer. I love all of you! I'm coming!

One of my new years resolutions is to blog more. Part of the problem is I cant say, type or hear the word blog with out lauging. Its a part of the generation gap. People on CNN use it and they sound rediculous. But I am way more credible then CNN or the newspaper. Point is the new album is getting close to being finished. I think I might have just fried my drum machine but I am charging foreward, proofing some touch up parts and mixing. Its a lot. The whole album is gonna be a little over 2 hours but god willing it will be done this month and sound good. Soo sending me all your good third eye energy that it all goes smoothly and there are no more snafoos. 

But myspace says it is and I dont know how to change it :-0 !
