If selected as one of the top 6, we will get the opportunity to perform at Musikfest, The Kimmel Center and The Philly Folk Festival, which would be a VERY BIG AND AMAZING THING for us. One of these days, we're actually going to write something interesting about ourselves or the world in our blog and not just use it to promote a show. We promise!

We are incredibly excited to announce our debut in this "emerging artists" showcase at the famous Tin Angel in downtown Philadelphia.

We're going to be part of a wonderful benefit event at the Hard Rock Cafe in Philadelphia this Wednesday. Musicians On Call is an AMAZING organization that brings music to bedsides of hospital patients. We volunteer once a month at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, performing for patients right in their rooms. It's an uplifting experience...music is a powerful thing. If you're near Philly, please consider attending this event. Tickets are $10 per person.

We've just found out that "Rain" is among 15 songs up for recognition as the Featured Dish of 2008 on the Acoustic Diner internet radio podcast. Pretty damn cool. We're in the company of amazing artists like Dave Doll, Avi Wisnia, Tom Malm and 11 others.

The Acoustic Diner is a wonderful supporter of original local and indie music and the host, Dylan Michaels, is a seasoned DJ with an immense musical vocabulary. Check it out at www.coolvibesradio.com.

While you're there, take 2 seconds and vote for "Rain" - the poll is on the left side of the page. Your support is mucho, mucho appreciated.

We were nominated for 3 Lehigh Valley Music Awards again this year!

  • Best Duo
  • Best Female Vocalists
  • Best Band Website

We didn't win anything, but that's ok. We were (surprisingly) among the top 5 vote-getters in each of our categories, so that's pretty sweet. It might sound like a cliche, but it really is cool just to be recognized.

The event was much improved this year with its new location at Allentown Brew Works. It had a younger, hipper vibe which I think all of the musicians and fans appreciated. And we got to hang out with some of our favorite local musicians (Amanda Thorpe, Leechboy, Michael and Tamara Fritz, Jordan White, Phil Stahl). Since we moved to Philadelphia last year, we haven't seen some of these guys/girls for a while and it felt really good to catch up. Leechboy has an *extremely cute* new baby boy for crying out loud! Our friend "Army Mike" from the Java Lounge days surprised the hell out of us - he was waiting there for us when we arrived. He's been stationed in Egypt for the last year or so and it was AWESOME to have him back safe and sound on US soil, at the freaking Lehigh Valley Music Awards of all places. If the Dolls would have been there, it would have been a perfect evening. :-)

Thanks to Ian, Gloria and all of the volunteers and fans who made the event a success. And thanks to the people who voted for us. You absolutely rock.

Love, K&A

Man, we had a good time last night!

We played a short set at Doc Watson's, a staple of the Philly bar scene. Stillicide (a kick-ass local band) hosts Friends in the Attic every Tuesday, an add-on to Jaxon's Local Shots, and they invited us to play. It's a really cool concept -- Jaxon (from WMMR 93.3), who is a great supporter of local, original music, brings in the heavy hitting main stage acts who play for 45 minute sets downstairs and then upstairs, the "attic" bands play in between the main stage sets. So it's non-stop live music all night long.

We were really impressed by the caliber of bands upstairs and downstairs. Spinning Lucy (who we idiotically called Spilling Lucy and Spitting Lucy…oops! Sorry guys!) played before us and they rocked it. Full band, really tight, 3-part harmonies, catchy songs…just plain good. And everyone was really nice! We're so jaded with the bar scene, that we just expect everyone to act like assholes. Not so at Doc Watson's. The Spinning Lucy guys, Vince from Double V Bookings (who ran kick-ass sound!), Clint from Stillicide, Dan the bartender, the audience…everyone was awesome.

If you are a music fan in Philly, get your ass to Doc Watson's every Tuesday. It's worth the $5 cover (free if you're a WMMR 93.3 VIP card holder).

Thanks Clint! Thanks Vince! Thanks Lucy boys! J
