The Infamous Serpent by Jonny Olsen
Trapped in a torrid tundra
Parched from the intense fireball gleam
An Orange blaze melts the sky
Brown, cracked, earth crumbles beneath
Erupted bursts, hot lava flows
I’m forced to keep my eyes welded shut
From the piercing red light that spurts out
Suffusing in all angles
With strobe beam syncopation
It would viciously burn my eyes white
If I was to give in
To the temptation of the terrain
One little peek around
Would surely entice the cockatrice
She waits eagerly, yearning for eye contact
Just a little attention from
Overly anxious rich curiosity
It would surely jolt her to a ravenous state
Allowing her to lacerate your petty mind
We must, I must keep them closed
Remain blind to her atrocious charisma
From the hill, she flicks out
Her infinite blood crimson slurping tongue
At my eyelids, irking me to open them
To be frozen in her fabulous gaze
To be shredded in her torturous kingdom
To watch my mind rip out from the horror
Torment is her demented nature
She lives tenaciously with her suigeneris megalomania
Am I isolated in this wasteland?
Left alone, sinking in this scorching sand?
No, here comes an illustrious vibration
Thousands of marching feet
A high-pitched screech wails
Throughout the land
She’s lashing out, dictating
To her army of servants
All exiled here as well
Their eyes all gouged out
Juxtaposed with chains
Lined up for miles
