It has been quite a long time since I updated. This is mainly due to my being so extremely busy. Work is going great. I got a raise and have been working overtime. The University also payed for me to become a Nnotary. Heather got me an Ipod for my birthday. I love it. I wired it up to my car so I don't have to deal with those crappy FM transmitters. The Navy thing has been well too. I just have to remember to get my pants hemmed. I go to boot camp on September 11th. I was awarded recruit of the month. It will be strange going almost three weeks with no contact outside of the base. I can't wait to have my new room. We are painting it gray and black. I am also putting up a new fan (nice and dark). I am also gonna get black curtains. When we are finished, my room is gonna look and feel great. I am almost finished with classes. It will be nice to have a break (however miniscule it may be). I can't wait for our Disney weekend. It will definitely be a much needed vacation after I deal with new faculty members for a week and a half. The good shall roll over the bad.

I haven't updated in a while so here is what is been going on (in a nutshell). The Navy thing has been going pretty well. I have to get my wisdom teeth removed next month. I got the majority of my uniforms (just missing the shirts that I need now). I had to send some shirts back because they ordered XL and I wear a medium. The Navy gave me eight shots on Sunday and took four viles of blood. That was interesting because they thought I was going to pass out. My arms still hurt from the shots. Work is pretty good. I got the permanent position that I was hoping for. Now I get full benefits. They gave me a neat little gift bag with a Human Resources polo shirt. Unlike the Navy, they got my size correct. I got a new car. I brought Heather up to the dealership just to look at the car, not expecting to buy it because I couldn't afford it, but the dealership worked the numbers in my favor after I said there was no way I could get it at what they wanted for it and what they were willing to give me for my truck. I was surprised when they said they would do it. What I find amusing is that Heather and Amanda are more excited about the car than I am. I guess it really hasn't hit me yet, it just seems surreal. Heather and I are going to Boca this weekend to see her family. It's funny that we didn't really make the final decision until we found out that her cousin and his wife will be there. We are going to drive three hours to see someone that lives an hour away from here. Go figure. That is all for now.

So this weekend has been interesting if nothing else. I spent Friday night drinking at Amandas with Amanda, Leah, Jenny, Anna, and a handful of Annas friends. There is this dilapidated car in the parking lot that was crying out to be a urinal. The next afternoon we woke up and Amanda and I went to Bennigans. Got home about six that evening and did laundry. Then Charles called and we went to Bennigans for a beer. That turned into four beers each and splitting an appetizer. We got Amanda to pick us up and we went to her place with Taylor and met Heather there. Later Anna and her friends came. That night was another time to use the car as a urinal. Charles, Taylor, and I so used that car like we were in a bathroom. I woke up the next morning sleeping on my stomach with Taylor snuggling with my ass like it was a pillow. Kind of reminds me of that Friends episode when Joey and Ross napped together. Came home this morning and spent some time with Heather. Then I went to a friends place and we hung out and they cooked dinner. Then I came home and finished some homework. There are many bits and pieces missing from this, but I just dont feel like including every detail of this crazy weekend.

I finally finished my enlistment. I signed my contract, got sworn in, and got my orders. I am officially in the Navy Reserves. My current pay grade is Seaman. My job is a Religious Programs Specialist. When put together I am RPSN Jonathan Lee Richman. I am excited that it is all over and I get to start drilling on April 22. If all works out, in 4 years I will be an officer in the Navy. Well I'm off to celebrate these good times.

This has nothing to do with my previous post, they are completely separate entities. So I woke up this morning to a phone call from my Navy recruiter. He offered me a $20,000 sign on bonus. That is awesome since they weren't going to give me a dime. Here is the catch; they want me to do full boot camp, then go to A school. The only two jobs available to me (because of my color vision: if my color perception was fine then I could do anything I wanted) are Corpsman (nurse) and CB (construction). Because of my test scores they wouldn't let me do manual labor so it would be Corpsman. That requires even more training because I would have to be with the Marines. All of that put together keeps me away from home for almost a year. The benefit to me is that when I do finally get home they give me a lump sum check for $20,000 (minus taxes- Sam has to keep his money). The benefit for the Navy is that at that time I will be available for them to ship out. The current program I am enrolling in keeps me here, and I am not available to be shipped out for two years. I really need to sit doen with many people and get some advice about this. There is a little more to the decision than is here.

I just thought of this so I really haven't put too much thought into it... But what if I just up and left everything? What if I dipped out of the country and went to to Europe of Africa or something? I wonder how things would work by doing that. What would the consequences be? Would I be able to come back to things the way I left them? I wonder...

I got a new job. I start April 5th at UCF in H.R. I will be doing lots of data entry and anwering phones and other stuff. The pay is great and the hours are THE poopy. I will be working like 35 hours a week, sometimes more. The days are 8-5 and I have weekends off. It's gonna be sweet. I think it's kinda poetic that my last day at Omaha Steaks will be my 3 year anniversary. The only thing that I will miss is my discount, but I will be making much more money (almost twice as much) so this outways that. The only thing that sucks is that it's a temporary position. Hopefully they will convert it to full time and I will get that position (I have to reapply for it though). Thanks to Amanda for letting me know about the position and putting in a good word for me.

Well it was pretty cool. Saturday we went down to Boca. That night we went to a high school party. That was a bit awkward, but we didn't stay long. Then we met up with Heather's dad and went to Boomers. We played a couple rounds of mini golf, played a bunch of arcade games, and rode the go-karts. Sunday wasn't too eventful. Monday we went down to Key Largo where we had lunch at Craig's Restaurant (Amanda's uncle's place) and went out on Amanda's aunt's boat. It was neat because we got to stand out in the Atlantic Ocean. Sandbars are the coolest thing. Tuesday we did a bit of shopping, and that night we went to a bar and saw a band that has the worst singer ever. Wednesday we went down to Key West. That was the highlight of my week. We had lunch at The Deli Restaurant (it was ok). We walked down Duval Street. Had a few drinks. The Lazy Gecko is pretty cool. We then stopped in a t-shirt shop and got a couple cool shirts. We went to Fat Tuesday and Amanda and I each got a yard of frozen alcoholic beverage. We also saw about half of the UCF Men's Basketball Team at that bar. We went to the coastline and saw sunset. We had dinner at Margaritaville. We got some pictures of us at the Southernmost Point. Thursday we had lunch at Craig's and set for home. Mucho good times. Thanks Amanda.

Well I just finsished my week of hell. I had three papers, a final, and a midterm. Next week I have a test on Tuesday and a test on Thursday. No worries with those. It feels good to be finished with everything.
I love it that Jessica Simpson has been replaced by Ms. Piggy.
I spent most of Tuesday at the Reserve Center taking care of Navy stuff. I interviewed with a Chaplain. He is going to be my direct CO and he seems real cool. I am going to be a Religious Programs Specialist. That basically means that I'm going to be a Chaplain's assistant. While on drilling status I will do paperwork, schedule appointments, and prep the alters. When I am shipped overseas I will be doing the same things, but I will also be wearing a Marine's uniform and carrying weapons. It will be my job to keep the Chaplain alive. I will also be responsible for his transportation by driving him around in a Humvee. I will be going up to Illinois this summer for Navy training. Next summer I spend with the Marine's learning intense combat skills, marksmanship, and emergency medical techniques. Good Times!

I feel like a rechargeable battery that has been rechaged too many times. Life is really taking its toll on me both mentally and physically. I am glad that I have been able to deal with the mental aspect of it. I apologise to those that were affected by my irrational decisions. On the other side, I have no idea why I am as sore as I am. The only thing that could explain why I am this sore is a mega orgy, but I am pretty sure that didn't happen. I can't wait until March comes. Spring Break should be fun. I am really looking forward to going down to the Keys. I only work five days in March. I decided it was time to cash in some vacation time so I have over two straight weeks off. I need the break. I don't know how I feel about the basketball tournaments. I wanted to go, but now it seems like nobody else is going. I don't want to be bored the whole time. The NAVY is pissing me off. I just want to sign the contract, but no, they have to dick me around for three months.

Today has been different if nothing else. I got my financial aid check today. It was for $2.16. Yes, that is Two Dollars and Sixteen Cents. Now I can get two things from the dollar menu at McDonalds. I had lunch at Wackadoos with Heather, Amanda, Shelley, and Charles. The place was packed. I went to class early so that I could do some homework. I brought my laptop and used the wireless network on campus. It is amazing how far we have come in technology. A few years ago one would be lucky if there was a place to plug in their modem, let alone connect to the internet through the air. I had a very long talk with my dad. We talked about a lot of things and I am glad to here that he has finally made a decision that will make his life much better and happier. I have been sitting in front of this computer for three hours just taking tests. I am finally done and glad to have the opportunity to turn on the tv and relax. I got two cd's today that I ordered last week. Now I just need to put forth the effort to put them in my truck.

Well I finally got a new computer, so I am posting. After we got Heather’s cousin (who works in Best Buy corporate) involved they finally junked my laptop as a lemon. So last night Heather and I got to go to Best Buy to pick out a new one. They gave us $1300 in store credit. I decided not to get another Toshiba and got an HP.
On the other side of my life I am going to be Seaman (Yeoman) Jonathan Richman by the end of the month. I went to the military processing center a couple of weeks ago for my physical. Because I failed the color vision test I do not qualify for the nuclear program. That really sucks because I would have been banking. $10,000 just to sign and then $3000 a month just to go to college. That would have been nice. So now I will just be a reservist in the navy. I am really excited. I get to spend 17 days of the summer in Great Lakes, Illinois for Basic Training. There is also a slight chance still that I will be a Chaplain’s Assistant. If I do that then I get to do training with the Marines so that I will get more extensive combat training and some medical training. Either way I will enjoy my new job.

So my computer has been in the shop since Friday because it won't restart without freezing. Best Buy still has no idea why it is acting this way. I think that it may need a new hard drive, but these douches keep reinstalling Windows to see if that fixes it. Disney was awesome. The Animal Kingdom Lodge so upgraded us complimentarily to a savannah view. It was really neat to see the animals from our balcony. The Aloha Dinner Show was pretty cool. That is the first time I have ever seen a buffet that included alcoholic drinks, although it was only beer and wine. Getting stuck on Space Mountain was pretty cool. I have video of our space ship being pushed by a cast member. Well big new is that I have decided to enlist in the Naval Reserve. I really want to be a Master-at-Arms (police officer), but that will not happen if I fail the colorblindness test (99% chance I will). I would also like to a nuclear technician (which my test scores definitely agree with), but because they want to give me national security clearance I may end up being a Yeomen (office assistant). I guess that's not bad if there is a big war... What am I gonna do, file the enemy to death? We shall see what happens when I go up to Jacksonville for medical exams and testing. Oh ya, all those great shots too.
