Yauh!
Gonna make this quick, gotta get back on my grind.
I broke away from coloring for a second to do a little bit of sketching
here and there. Nothing big. I'm dying to do more drawing.

The top three were from my trip to L.A. during the summer.
Last one I did yesterday. gold star for me.

Old character (and Evil DJ Cap'm Hook's
original nemesis) Deejay Poppyseedgluvs.
Redone with a Comeups hat.

Here's a quickie flyer I designed for my homie Maker.
It's his Birthday Party tonight! I better see you there.
Mr. Motherfucking Dibbs will be there.
Cain't go wrong.

Deeds related characters.

and here's some color work I've been on.
First, the Earthworms' new album cover.
Drawing by Foodone, finishes by Jose G

line work

colors.

and here's a couple peeks of what I've been working on for the past couple months- Magic Pickle by Scott Morse. Dropping next summer
from Scholastic Books (Graphix)
Scott and Scholastic asked me to add color to the Magic Pickle graphic
novel, which was originally published by Oni Press.
I should be done with it this weekend.

Next stop- Smileytower!
Be sure to check my profile page to keep up on my live art and
DJ gigs.
Oh, and subscribe to my blog. I promise I'll be your friend :)
Have a fun and safe Halloween weekend.
Peace,
Jose

Well, I was hoping to post this last friday, but as I was nearly done typing
out this elaborate, epic blog, my page refreshed and I lost everything. I should've
known better. Anyway, I'll try to do a better job of posting this on
blogger or livejournal as well as on myspace. A lot of people complain
that I post on myspace...

hmm... It's been a while since I last posted. Frankly, the more time passes
(between blogs)the less I feel like posting. Shit, I think the last time
was before summer kicked off.

I'd write about my summer, but there was far too much going on.
From the gazillion freelance projects I took on, to my California trip,
Uberjam, Wizard World and after party.. and so on. At this point I
really can't think of everything that happened...

I do have a bunch of new artwork. Most of what I've been working
on you will probably won't see any time soon. But It'll be worth the wait.

I've noticed the blog has been getting quite a few hits although
the updates have been lacking. Awresome!

I've been feeling a little burnt again. I'm not
salty. Just a little tired. Honestly,
I'm really excited about what I've been working
on. Next year is what's up.

Trying not to push it too much, but I gotta make up for
the meager output of the last few years.
So, on to the art.
A little theme music, please?

I'll start with some commissions done at Wizard World.
I was set up with Mike Huddleston, Mike Bianco, and
Jim Mahfood. My crew is better than yours.

Mr. Peanut on a mini canvas

Polar bear X Penguins on mini canvas

Before the convention, I started working on drawings to sell
at my table (since I didn't have any print material available)

Douchebag from The Wizard

Donkey Kong

Super Mario Bros. 2

Wonder Woman

The afterparties we held this year (Friday at Darkroom,
Saturday at The Black Beetle) were off the chain. This
thing gets bigger every year. Thanks to everybody who came
through to kick off the dance party.
Big up- Pickel, Intel, Elevation, J.Lee, Mahf
Huddleston, Food One, Bianco, Carl, Blaylock

If you weren't there, you missed the debut of
DJ Cluepac

a/k/a Cluepeezy, ?Pac, Cloopdog, Cloopay Fyasko, Macluevelli

back from the dead to solve mysteries.

on the dj table....

Don't want to get into it just yet, but I just wanted to
show off designs from a couple original
concepts I'm working on...

Sheila, Scott, Johnny, Mr. Cruz and Carl

Davey Wurst and Afro-Brites

I'll keep you posted as news develops
(plus a few additional weeks/months/years)

AAAnd lastly, I'm sure you all remember

...Teen Heaven?
The first chapter will be done soon (I swear!)
Rather than putting out a 168 page black and white graphic novel,
I will be serializing it (about quarterly) over the next couple years.
It will be in full color. And as it stands, free.
Online. Unless somebody offers a deal I can't refuse.
I'm dying to get this story done and out. I jut couldn't deal with rushing
this out just to meet a deadline (and for little to no cash)
When I started working on it in 04, I found myself having to cut

much of the story in order to meet the deadline/page count.
I've had more ideas since then, so a limitless page count is exactly
what I need at this point....

MYSPACE EXCLUSIVE!!!!!!

limited edition jpeg of "New Edition" ADAM.
Right click and save while supplies last!!!!!!

Teen Heaven will be serialized in .Smileytower.,
an online mag that will also feature Deeds and
other art/stories
from me.

I'm hoping to launch it January 1st, 2008.
no. I WILL launch it 01/01/08
I'll keep you in the know. Cuz I love you.

If you check this blog from time to time, please subscribe.
it's free, it's one click, and you'll be notified everytime

I've got something to say. er, show.
Hope all's good with you, catch you on the flipsides!!!!

I was effin around with some Super Mario Brothers sketches while I was
waiting for my gigantic files to save.

I finished the Mario and Shy guy designs in Illustrator, b.g. is paint and
Photoshop...

Though I have a gang of Deeds/Teen Heaven pages I'm bustin on,
I have an itch to do an SMB comic. Something proper, unlike the lame comics(see below) and cartoons from back in the day. I think it'd be fun,
don't you?

Hope you're having a good midweek. Happy Birthday (monday) Joey
Potts, (Tuesday) Maggie, (Wednesday) Ian, and (Friday) Jason.
Once-A-Month's B-day party tonight @ Darkroom, Inel-A-Thon
tomorrow @ Lava.

Whattuppers? Sorry for the slow updates, workin my grind as usual.
In addition to the coloring/comic/flyer/etc work, I took part in a group art
show last weekend called "Get Fit" at the south side 32nd & Urban
gallery. There was a great turnout, thanks to all who rolled through.
If you couldn't make it to the opening, no worries. The show's open until
May 23rd.
Here's the piece I contributed, titled "Fight Series No. 6: Hold The
Mayo". It was inspired by Olivia Newton-John (though that isn't her in
the painting...)

Acrylic on illustration board, 20" x 32"
It's selling for $560.00. If you'd like to buy it, please contact the fine
folks at 32nd & Urban Gallery -
3201 S.Halsted Ave. , Chicago IL 60608
thirty_second_urban@yahoo.com

Other than that, still working on the Deeds/Teen Heaven comics. More details as I get closer to completion. Live art in Aurora on May 25th.

Hope you're all enjoying life. Sun's out, bitches!!!

peace,

New York was the shit. Thanks to Actual Fact for putting us up in his

Gloomy Bear
That was a helluva night.

The day before I left for NY, I was called by Mad mag to provide the art
for a two page article called " Mad's Teacher Translation Guide". It's
all done (was up past 5:30 am last night finishing it) and I'll post the
issue and date as soon as I know.
Since I haven't posted much art lately, I figured I'd post sketches from
the last Mad article I did, from the Feb. 07 issue.

If you want to see the final art, cop that ish from your local bookstore...

gonna keep it simple this week.
Here are the images from the last few live art shows I've
done.

From New Year's reprieve @ Sub-T, Jan. 11th, 07
Joey and Peabe killed it that night. It's always a good time
with those dudes. Pugs, Static, Rope, Once, Intel all killed
it on stage.

From the Save Darfur tour @ Abbey Pub.
Thanks to Caesar, Revise, Morf and all the acts-
Visionaries, Sleep, Grayskul, Vakill, Pickel...

From the Come-Ups night @ Sub-T Jan. 24th, 07
Big up to Pickel, Maker and Superstar DJ Intel.
Rest in space, Space/Boy....

Yeah, as you can tell the painting has been lacking as of late.
I think it's time for a live art break. Just a little one.
Gotta restore my juices. Burnout's a motherfuckaire.
Plus, I've got a slew of illustration work, ideas to pitch, and my
 pet project

The last couple of weekes have been fun. Maybe too much fun.
I do have another show coming up soon-

Don't miss out. Last time was a blast. Plus it's BYOB again.
Seriously, if you missed it on the sixth, you owe it to yourself
to go on the third. I almost wish I wasn't painting that night...

Did you pick up the new issue of MAD?

Guess who got to rock three full pages of art on the inside?
Here's a taste-

or should I say sniff?

Have a good weekend, everybody.
Happy Birthday, Oliver!!
Happy Birthday, Tara!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!!!!!

Peace,
Jose Gee

Yeeah! Happy New Year!
Got some pics before I get into my New Year's musings...
I did FOUR live art gigs in little over a week. One of them out
of state. Mah bones is tahrd!
Live art from Marshall McGearty's 12/22/06

I was challenged to do a painting in 30 minutes. I did this in 15...

Live Art from Morseland- 12/23/06

I had to paint on panelling, since Home Depot was out
of my usual board....

Live art from the Atomic Cowboy, STL- 12/27/06
Didn't take many pictures. Hopefully Jim or Mike will
send me some. Great night! Earthworms fuckin killed it!

got too drunk to finish this one. I'm embarrassed.

Live art from the Empty Bottle- 12/30/06
hell yeah! Black Sheep!

Don't know about you, but I think 07 could be a good year.
I'm talking personally, because global warming and war are still
motherfuckers...
I'm trying not to get into this big rant about how shitty last year
was. It wasn't even all that terrible. I had good times with some good
friends. Met a lot of new people. One in particular who brought me
out of a serious funk. I lost some loved ones ( R.I.P Dad). Lost a lot
of money (gotta do better this year!). Painted a shitload. Created
some of my best work ever. I am disappointed I didn't do more, but
when you feel down, the last place you want to be is chained to a
drawing board or computer. Thanks to my peeps who put a smile
on my face during the tough times. Traci, Brandy, Katie, Jake, Sara,
Jason, Sang, Tony, Ryan Wax, Joey Potts, Won, Julie, Rose, MP,
Shane, Stalnos, Christine, Mahf, Rift, Emily, Pugs, MTM, Carl,
Adam, Jamie, Josh, Bob R, Joe F, Laura, Maker, Tarin, Rod and all
the Scumbags around the way. I love my homeys.
And of course my crew. Jim, Mike and Dave.
Jackie, Jessica, Paul and Mom- We start this year one person gone,
but twice as strong. I'm sorry we don't get to spend as much time
together as we should. I guess we're each on our own grind. But I
take comfort knowing you'll be there when I need you, and
know that I'll be there just the same for you .
Pops, I miss you much. I always wish you could see me painting
on stage with some of my all time favorite acts. I know you're
proud of your kids. You've never kept secret.

love Jose.
oh yeah- Oliver and Elliot never cease to put a smile om my face.
Oh Oh- and I'm not about to get into my top five, top ten albums of
the year but I will say this. Number One on that list would be
Haiku's Blew. It's the album I listened to the most, and it
pretty much defined my whole summer. Thanks to Tony and Rod
for that one.

here's some new Mad for Kids art.

and to prove 07 will be a good year...
shhh.

Shhhhhhhhh.

SHHHHHHHHHHH....

see you in the funny pages.
