So I put a new song up here. It's a version of Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues" - one of my favorites by one of my favorites, as anyone who knows me can tell you. The cool thing about this song is that is was recorded at Sun Studios - the LEGENDARY Sun Studios - in Memphis, Tennessee, which is where Johnny Cash recorded his first version of the song over 50 years ago. It was pretty intimidating but equally awe-inspiring being in that studio. I didn't believe in ghosts until then. Hope you all like it.

All you have to do is go to www.hartfordadvocate.com, click on the Band Slam 2008 link, and get busy. We're hoping to be considered in the following categories, with your help:
Best Band (Other - Classic Rock) - The Bus Drivers Best Band (Cover) - The Bus Drivers Best Band (Happy Hour/Duo) - The Bus Drivers duo
Best Drummer - Mike Keyes (The Bus Drivers) Best Bassist - Joe O'Brien (The Bus Drivers) Best Guitarist - Nano Sciucco (The Bus Drivers) Best Harmonica - Craig Struble (The Bus Drivers) Best Male Vocalist - Jeff Presch (The Bus Drivers)
I know it seems like a lot, but it'll only take 5 minutes of your time. Thanks for helping us get recognized for what we do. Take care.

Well, sort of. I had the opportunity to perform on WFSB's Better Connecticut program last Friday morning. That's the local CBS affiliate, for those who aren't from around here. Anyway, I did a couple songs with my good friend and bass player extraordinaire, Stone E. Love, and they put one of them up on the website. Here's the link if you want to check it out:

Take it easy.

Hello all,
Just a little note to let anyone who's interested that I'm planning on doing some new recordings in the coming weeks. Since I (still) can't play drums, these will just be acoustic recordings of some of my favorite songs to cover. If anyone has any ideas of songs they'd like to hear or songs you've heard me play before that you liked, by all means I'm open to suggestions. This will hopefully help me pass the time while I'm in the midst of writing some new original material. So stay tuned and I hope you like what you hear. Take care.

I just posted a new song on my page. It's called "Hartford Blues" - not very creative, but I always wanted to write a blues song. It's about (obviously) the city of Hartford which, if you don't know, is where I grew up. Kind of a reflection on what the city used to be as opposed to what it is now. I'm kind of happy with it. It's acoustic, but I don't have a lot of choice there since I can't play drums to save my life. The track would sound a little... terrible with electric guitar, bass, and no drums. So I did it acoustic. The slide guitar, harmonica, and percussion are all me though. Hope you like it, tell me what y'all think. Be well.

Hey everyone, sorry about the form letter here, but it would've taken me forever to write to each of you separately. I need your help with something: My band, The Bus Drivers, is trying to get nominated for the Hartford Advocate's annual Band Slam awards. It's a very political thing (and we don't really do politics) so we really need as many people to nominate us as we can so we can get on the ballot. It's all online so it doesn't take very long at all. Many of you have heard us play and you know we're pretty good. For those of you that haven't... well, you'll have to take my word for it. In any case, we'd really appreciate your help with getting nominated. It would also help if you forwarded this to as many people as you can and maybe we can get a few more nominations that way. Here's the link to follow:
What you need to do is use the pulldown menu to select the category, then type in the name. The directions are pretty simple. These are the categories we're trying to get nominated for:
Best Cover/Tribute Band: The Bus Drivers
Best Happy Hour/Duo: Jeff & Craig of The Bus Drivers
Best Bassist: Joe O'Brien (The Bus Drivers)
Best Drummer/Percussionist: Mike Keyes (The Bus Drivers)
Best Male Vocalist: Jeff Presch (The Bus Drivers - note the different spelling)
Other -> Best Harmonica: Craig Struble (The Bus Drivers)
Thanks so much for this, I/we really appreciate your help. The nominations close on May 10th. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again.
-Jeff

Current mood: sick
At the risk of becoming prolific, I added another new track to the page. This one's instrumental too, and acoustic, and I think it's going to stay that way. I can't take full credit for this one though, the piece was originally created by my friend and former musical compadre, Keith Bouchard. Check out his very interesting and unique project at www.myspace.com/theinclinedplane. He gave me the idea and said, "I won't use this, but I think it's up your alley so see what you can do with it." What I've done with it is called "Nocturnal". Why? I recorded it at night, I am a nocturnal animal, and I couldn't think of anything better. It's got a bit of a lullaby vibe to it too. But I like it. It's not A+ quality, but it's the best I could do with a laptop. Enjoy.
