RAVE: Beautiful weather all week. Almost all of our snow is melted.
RANT: I miss the snow. I know, I can't have it both ways. Except, in Colorado, I can.
RAVE: It's quiet without my foster kittens and I've accomplished a lot this week.
RANT: It's quiet without my foster kittens and I'm not very motivated to work. Even when you have the best job in the world, there are times you'd rather be shopping or hanging out with friends.
RAVE: We're back to our regular programming on FOX. I think I'll spare you my assessment of reality TV this week.
RAVE: Reading Dan Brown's, The Lost Symbol. Way good suspense thrillers, these books.
RANT: I have so much reading to catch up on. Wish I could cocoon in front of the fireplace for a month and read 24/7.
RAVE: Sherri was on Channel 9 News with a kitten yesterday, promoting the shelter. She said when she got back to the shelter from the TV station, it was packed with people wanting kittens! Maybe my fosters will find their forever homes today.

RAVE: The snow is beautiful. If we hadn't had to shovel the driveway three times, it would've rated in the spectacular category. RANT: Sherri had to go in to the shelter early today to clean because only two cleaners showed up. I hate when she's responsible for others' irresponsibility. RAVE: A fantastic writing week. I finished the first pass revision of my 2011 book, She Loves You, She Loves You Not... I'm giving it a thumbs-up. RANT: Our four foster kittens are still here because the shelter is packed. Why isn't anyone adopting kittens? RAVE/RANT: My RTV thoughts o' the week: Project Runway is just okay this season. Meanie Irini makes it bearable, I guess. So far my favorite designer is Althea. Survivor is just sad. Poor Foa Foa. The Amazing Race is a hoot. I think the Globetrotters bring a lot of fun to this season. Top Chef is making me crazy. Or maybe it's Jennifer's whining that's driving me insane. Get it together, girl. I was glad to see that overconfident, arrogant Mike go. SYTYCD is starting out tough with all the injuries. I LOVE Adam Shankman. But someone needs to monitor Mary Murphy's intake of alcohol. RAVE: I'm loving Glee. When does it come back on? RAVE: Don't forget NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). Check it out at www.nanowrimo.org. RANT: War is hell. Someone needs to negotiate peace in Iraq and Afghanistan before every civilian and soldier are dead.

Twenty-six inches in our yard so far. If I have to shovel the driveway again, I'm going to die. This pic was taken AFTER we shoveled. It was coming down faster than we could shovel it off.

On My Web site, I've posted the story behind the story for Rage: A Love Story. MySpace won't let me link there directly (grr), so just go to my Web site at www.julieannepeters.com and click on Rage: A Love Story. You'll see the link to Story Behind the Story.
Also, while you're there, check out the new covers for my middle grade novels. They're being reissued next year. Link to Middle Grade novels and click on Reissues.

RAVE RAVE RAVE: Congress finally passed a hate crimes bill that includes sexual orientation. Thank you!
RAVE: Today is my big bro's b-day. I sent him a text at midnight last night.
RANT: If he got out of bed to read it, he may never speak to me again.
RAVE: All of our home repairs from August's tornado and hailstorm are done. We had the final inspection today.
RANT: Naturally, the insurance estimate didn't cover all the costs, so we ended up with lots of out-of-pocket expense. Define "replacement cost."
RAVE: Productive week. I'm working on revisions for my 2011 book titled, She Loves You, She Loves You Not...
RAVE: But before that book comes out, January ushers in the publication of By the Time You Read This, I'll Be Dead. More about that book in the days ahead.
RANT/RAVE: One of my foster kittens got sick (not eating/diarrhea), but she seems better now. All four of them are ready to go back to the shelter to find their forever homes.
RANT/RAVE: I'm getting a cold. I refuse to get a cold.
RAVE RAVE RAVE: Had front row center seats for Wicked. OMG. I have been changed for good.

RAVE: Sherri and I are on vacation.
RAVE: I forgot what day it is. That'll happen on vacation.
RAVE: It's after noon and we haven't even gotten dressed yet.
RAVE: Our agenda for the day: Maybe get dressed. Maybe go slumming at Wally World. Maybe go back to bed.
RAVE: No rants.

You must run out and get this book. It's an anthology about love and identity, edited by the fabulous Michael Cart. Here's the publisher's description of the book:
A girl thought to be a boy steals her sister's skirt, while a boy thought to be a girl refuses to wear a cornflower blue dress. One boy's love of a soldier leads to the death of a stranger. The present takes a bittersweet journey into the past when a man revisits the summer school where he had "an accidental romance." And a forgotten mother writes a poignant letter to the teenage daughter she hasn't seen for fourteen years. Poised between the past and the future are the stories of now. In nontraditional narratives, short stories, and brief graphics, tales of anticipation and regret, eagerness and confusion present distinctively modern views of love, sexuality, and gender identification. Together, they reflect the vibrant possibilities available for young people learning to love others—and themselves—in today's multifaceted and quickly changing world.
My story is titled, "First Time," and it's about two girls who decide to have sex for the first time. Is it graphic? Yes, but I think tastefully so. You might feel a bit of titillation (but whoever said that was a bad thing?).
I'm so proud and honored to have been included in this anthology of work by some of the finest young adult writers today.

Define "out" as living your authentic self. Happy day to all those who are OUT.
Happy day to those who are in the process of coming OUT.
Happy day to those who are still discovering who they are.
Live OUT and FREE. This day's for thee :)
