You used to be a partner in crime
Now you say you ain't got the time

Gotta get serious, gotta plan
Gotta pass those entrance exams
Oh my God
It's senior year
All you care about is your career

Chorus
It's a Life Sentence
It's a Life Sentence
It's a Life Sentence
It's a Life Sentence

You're squelching your emotions
All you talk about is old times
You don't do what you want to
But you do the same thing everyday

No sense of humor
But such good manners
Now you're an adult
You're boring

Chorus

The walls are closing in
You stayed too long in school
I'd rather stay a child
And keep my self-respect
If being an adult
Means being like you

Are you really you you you
You you you you you you
Are you really you?
No

You're a chained-up dog fenced in a yard
Don't see much, you can't go far
Pace and froth, you're getting sick
Run too fast and it'll snap your neck

You say you'll break out
But you never do
You're just another ant in the hill
That's your Life Sentence

One-shot to feature Bomb Queen teaming up with the super-heroines of the Shadowline universe!

This May, summer heats up early as Shadowline Publisher JimValentino, BRUCE THE LITTLE BLUE SPRUCE's Kristen Simon and I HATE GALLANT GIRL's Kat Cahill and Seth Damoose launch the ultimate super-heroine one-shot, BOMB QUEEN PRESENTS: ALL GIRL COMICS!

"Ever since restarting Shadowline, we've been slowly building up our very own corner of the Image universe, especially in the pages of BOMB QUEEN, SHADOWHAWK and most recently I HATE GALLANT GIRL. A spotlight is long overdue," Valentino said. "BOMB QUEEN PRESENTS: ALL GIRL COMICS showcases our super-heroines and most infamous super-villainess like never before in a self-contained adventure just about any super-hero fan will get a kick out of. It's hard not to enjoy a bevy of beauties quite like this one!"

BOMB QUEEN PRESENTS: ALL GIRL COMICS, illustrated by Damoose, co-plotted by Valentino & Simon and written by Cahill, features the women of the Shadowline universe - Bomb Queen, Dee Rail, Blacklight, Rebound, Editor Girl, Tempest and Fetish - working together to solve a problem that affects them all: something is rendering all the men in the world impotent! Can Bomb Queen team up with Shadowline's pantheon of super-heroines long enough to find the culprit and save the human race? Only this one-shot holds the key to the future of the Shadowline super-universe! BOMB QUEEN PRESENTS: ALL GIRL COMICS also features pinups by Image Comics Founders Jim Lee, Whilce Portacio and Jim Valentino!

BOMB QUEEN PRESENTS: ALL GIRL COMICS, a 32-page full color comic book for $3.50, will be in-stores May 27th, 2009.

Well we finally finished mixing the new (still untitled) Renfield album. Four of the songs have been posted onto the main Renfield page and I have added them to the player on my page as well. Keep in mind the album is not mastered yet and the compression on MySpace makes everything sound a little off. And yeah that's me providing the creepy little kid voices on "The Prey."

In other news, the final issue of the "I Hate Gallant Girl" mini-series arrives on January 14th so please pick up a copy at your local comic book store. The only way I will ever squeeze a second series out of this thing is if the sales for the first are strong. Thanks!

Other than that, not much to report. The new car is holding up well. Fingers crossed for more good things to come in 2009.

Hello Everybody,

Seth Damoose, Kris Simon and I were interviewed by Michael Patrick Sullivan for Comic Book Resources. You can read the interview by clicking here!

And don't forget that issue number two of "I Hate Gallant Girl" is now in previews. The Diamond order code is: OCT082311. Remember the number of orders determines if we will get to keep making the book.

Thanks!

Hi Everybody,

Thought I would take a little time off of pimping my comic book ("I Hate Gallant Girl" available November 12th) in order to pimp my band, Renfield!

Renfield live on October 21st at CIA!

We play a crazy set with lots of energy, noise and fun. Remember fun? You used to like fun, old man grumpy pants.

So if you are in the greater Los Angeles area on October 21st at 10:30PM, why not join us? Once we release our mind controlling signals you will have no choice anyway. Get on the boat early and all rewards shall be yours!

Oh yeah. And I designed the flyer, too.

Hugs and Blisters,

Yesterday, Jim Valentino posted the following message on both the Shadowline and Image forums:

"As some folks may have noticed, we had to change the name of Galaxy Girl.

"Problem was a friend had already claimed the name and sold a pitch based on it.

"That left THEM unable to make a comic, US unable to sell to Hollywood as a movie or TV show, so since they got there first, we changed the name!

"It's still the same great book, by the same great team!

"Only the name has been changed to project the indecent...or something like that."

I just wanted to add that you will still be able to pre-order the book with the same Diamond Order Code SEP082263 so nothing besides a few letters in the name of the title have really changed.

Thank you.

25 August 2008 (Berkeley, CA) - Every underdog gets their day this November as newcomer Kat Cahill and BRAT-HALLA's Seth Damoose take a stand in Shadowline's newest three issue superhero mini-series, I HATE GALAXY GIRL!

"While I HATE GALAXY GIRL was originally Kat Cahill's runner-up for our 'Who Wants To Create a Super Heroine Contest', Shadowline Editor Kris Simon and I loved the concept so much we had to put it on the fast track to becoming its own series," Shadowline Publisher Jim Valentino said. "When Kat saw Seth's upcoming work on BRAT-HALLA, she knew he was the perfect artist to capture the mood she was going for. We really can't help but agree!"

Based on skill alone, Renee Tempete should be the new Galaxy Girl. Instead, a buxom blonde with no actual powers holds the title. As events unfold, Renee struggles not only against monsters, criminals and giant robots, but also a society that desperately wants to keep her in her place.

Cahill added, "The core of I HATE GALAXY GIRL is Renee finding the self-confidence to achieve her dreams despite constantly being told to give up. The experience is something I think just about anybody can relate to while the overall story is still a heck of a lot of fun!"

I HATE GALAXY GIRL 1 (SEP082263), a 32-page full color mini-series for $3.50, will be available in-stores November 12th.

Hi All,

The first draft for the first issue of "I Hate Galaxy Girl" is finally completed. I found myself writing out the whole thing in long hand, which is something that I haven't done since college.

What was the reason for this? The computer has grown too distracting to use as a normal tool. Since the advent of high-speed internet, social networking sites and various online games have come to dominate my computer usage. The only way I could focus on my writing was to buy an old school composition book and dash off to a coffee shop.

Seriously, I cannot even be near my home computer any more if I need to get work done. I blame this phenomena for why my room now greatly resembles a rat's nest. "Well, I could file my paperwork, but maybe I'll just check the box office reports first and..."

Ah. To have such problems as these. I am a completely spoiled Westerner. When the revolution comes, I will be the first against the wall. *sigh*

I would like to take this opportunity to update everybody on the progress of I Hate Galaxy Girl.

Seth Damoose will be penciling the book. He has done some really fantastic stuff and I couldn't be happier with him so far. You can check out his stuff right here.

And now, without further ado, here is the first official drawing of Renée in her Tempest uniform:

Keep in mind that nothing is finalized yet and there might be huge changes to the designs before Shadowline publishes anything (we hope to have it out early next year).

By the way, if you enjoy befriending fictitious characters, Renée has a MySpace page.

I am so excited about all of this that I could pop. Not literally.

Hello Everybody,

Recently I received both good news and bad news in regards to my comic book concept "I Hate Galaxy Girl." The bad news? IHGG did not win the "Who Wants to Create a Super-Herione?" contest in which it was originally entered. The good news? The folks over at Shadowline still want to publish.

So why am I not running around in the streets celebrating? Well, for one, that would be unseemly and I am all about preserving my dignity (don't laugh!). But more importantly, I need an artist.

If you are a comic book artist and interested in being published by Image/Shadowline, please get in contact with me with a link to a website with some samples of your work.

Please, I am deadly serious about this. With the right artwork, my comic book will be published. Hopefully somebody will be able to take advantage of this opportunity.

Thank you.

Well March was one eventful little month. I managed to land in the top five of the "Who Wants to Create a Super-Heroine?" contest that the fine folks at Shadowline were running. Top five out of five thousand entries. Not too shabby, eh?

Voting is still going on at the Kris Korner Forum until noon central on April 10th so you can go vote if you haven’t done so yet.

It was nice to see a professional comic book publisher take interest in my writing. Having my work publicly critiqued has been a bit of an eye opener. For some reason, the Internet trolls didn’t care for any of the top five ideas. Go figure.

Things are wrapping up on the Renfield album and my close friend MNDA will finish up the mix. Hope we can get it out by summer. Yours truly will be creating a few doodles for the liner notes. Should be fun. Expect an event at Comic-Con 2008.

Not much else to report. The TV show I’m working on is about to wrap and then I’m back to unemployment. Fun. Fun. Fun.

Oh yeah. I will finally be able to reveal which super-heroine is my creation soon so keep an eye out.

Love and embalming fluid,

-Kat

Hello Everybody,

A little while ago I entered a contest held by Shadowline Comics called "Who Wants to Create a Super-Heroine?" I entered and wound up in the final five.

The general public will be determining first place by voting here:

http://www.kris-korner.com/forum/index.php?topic=984.0

You have to register for the site in order to vote, but that doesn't require anything other than an e-mail address.

To keep the contest fair, I am not allowed to divulge which idea is mine.

So if you have a free moment, take the time to vote. Higher turnout means that they are more likely to run this contest again in the foreseeable future.

Thank you,

-Kat

And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Yup. It is official. I am in the final five of the "Who Wants to Create a Super-Heroine" contest.

The final five are, in alphabetical order:

1. Tom Arguello (a very nice fellow)
2. Kat Cahill (yay me!)
3. Dirk Manning (best name in the contest)
4. Rev. C. Edward Sellner (an honest to goodness man of the cloth)
5. Kristopher Waddell (a Canadian and a gentleman)

From the final five, one winner will be chosen by public vote. To keep things fair, none of us are allowed to reveal which character is ours.

Voting begins on March 10th at Kris' Korner Forum.

I have to say, making it to the final five has been a great affirmation for me. Hopefully, I can make it to number one.

Thanks to the folks at Shadowline who put together the contest and to my friends and family who have supported me through all these lean years.

Over and out.

-Kat

Hello Stranger,

This blog is for those of you who do not know me, but are familiar with Shadowline's "Who Wants to Create a Super-Heroine" contest. Yes I am the Kat Cahill in the top ten. So I'm taking it that you are visiting my MySpace site because you are curious to find out something about the semi-finalists.

Okay. Here goes:

I am not a professional comic book writer, but would like to be one. As such, I thought it would be cool to submit a concept for the above mentioned competition. Honestly, I was shocked to be chosen as one of the ten semi-finalists because, let's face it, 10 in 5,000 odds are pretty slim.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have been on the verge of giving up writing altogether for a few years now. It seemed that nobody was particularly interested in the stories that I was trying to tell and I was tired of defending myself all of the time. Add to that, I moved to Los Angeles and pretty much everybody is a script writer out here. The competition is pretty fierce to say the least.

It is an honor to have been chosen by Kris and Jim as one of the ten semi-finalists, but it is a whole lot of work too. I hope that it will be fun.

By the way, it is a little frustrating to not be able to blog about my actual character. I really do love her a lot and would enjoy nothing more than boasting about her. I think that's how parents feel about their kids, you know?

However, I do agree that it is important to keep the competition from turning into a popularity contest and the best idea will hopefully be the one that wins regardless of the creator. Fingers crossed for myself of course!

Other than that? I enjoy long walks on the beach, romantic dinners and bludgeoning small woodland creatures with a mallet.

Just kidding. I hate long walks on the beach.
