I was sad to read that one of the coolest people I have ever met had died on Monday. My Ky friends will no doubt remember Ray from Avatar records. That dude knew everything about recorded music and if he didn't have it in stock he would get it for you. I liked summer Ray the best when he would wear his 3 stripe socks pulled up to his knees. Thanks for turning me on to so much good music...you will be missed They found him in the store with a CD in his hand...pretty fitting here is the story

So today John McCain had a rally in Ohio this afternoon and 6,000 people were in attendance...sort of. Of the 6,000, 4,000 of them weer school kids bused in from the surrounding districts. And the entire 2,500-student Defiance School District was in attendance, all of them K- 12. Lots of voters in that group. Is it that hard to get people to show up at a rally the Thursday before the election don't take my word for it also here and here here's one moreAnd the best part is that McCain's boy Joe the Plumber was a no show but no one bother to tell Sen. McCain.

Don't forget tomorrow is "October surprise" day so stay tuned, maybe a new Bin Laden tape. I heard he was in the studio with Kanye and Timbaland so it should be off the hook.

You may be surprised to hear this, but I am a fan of the Florida Gators. And while tennessee is the team I hate the most, and I really hate tennessee, this weekend is always circled on the calendar...the georgia game. It's called the "World's largest outdoor cocktail party" (those of us int he know just call it the cocktail party) because it is held off campus at a neutral site in Jacksonville. So last year georgia finally got a win 42-30, giving them 3 wins in the last 18 games. But here's the rub... When georgia scored their first touchdown the enitre team ran into the endzone to dance and celebrate. I remeber it , but the Gators, both coaches and the team, are not talking aobut it. The only mention was in Urban Meyer's book, I didn't know he wrote a book. (Jen you better make room on the bookshelf next to Spurriers book) "That wasn't right," Urban Meyer told Buddy Martin, the co-author of the coach's new book Urban's Way. "It was a bad deal. And it will forever be in the mind of Urban Meyer and in the mind of our football team. ... "So we'll handle it. And it's going to be a big deal."
It's gonna get ugly

"Our opponent's ideological commitment to spread the wealth around, it's been tried in other societies, friends," Gov. Palin said. "And the only things that ever spread were scarcity and poverty and bureaucracy and stifling the entrepreneurial spirit that made this country the greatest country on earth."Now correct me if I am wrong but there is one State out of 50 that spreads the wealth around and I think the Governor of said State is very proud of it. Palin explained the windfall profits tax that she imposed on the oil industry in Alaska as a mechanism for ensuring that Alaskans "share in the wealth" generated by oil companies: "And Alaska—we're set up, unlike other states in the union, where it's collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs. … It's to maximize benefits for Alaskans, not an individual company, not some multinational somewhere, but for Alaskans." you can't make this stuff upHer own family receives more the 20K ANNUALLY! So who is the "socialist"?

From NBC's Michael Levine I tried to get in touch via Facebook with Oliver Clark, the man who McCain said probably didn't know what Fannie Mae was before the financial crisis (at Tuesday's debate). Apparently others have done the same. He just posted the following on his Facebook page: How did I feel about Sen. McCain stating "You probably never heard of Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac before this." Well Senator, I actually did. I like to think of myself as a fairly intelligent person. I have a bachelor degree in Political Science from Tennessee State, so I try to keep myself up to date with current affairs. I have a Master degree in Legal Studies from Southern Illinois University, a few years in law school, and I am currently pursuing a Master in Public Administration from the University of Memphis. In defense of the Senator from Arizona I would say he is an older guy, and may have made an underestimation of my age. Honest mistake. However, it could be because I am a young African-American male. Whatever the case may be it was somewhat condescending regardless of my age to make an assumption regarding whether I was knowledgeable about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. what's this

I figured everyone watched the debate tonight so I thought "Parties and Nightlife" was the best category for this.
During a discussion about energy, McCain punctuates a contrast with Obama by referring to him as "that one," while once again not looking in his opponent's direction but he did point towards him.
I don't think that was racist, in this situation I think McCain genuinely dislikes Obama. Part of me thinks grandpa forgot Obama's name, it was around 9:30 local time.
But I do think earlier in the debate, the second question to be exact, McCain showed he was a racist. When he was asked by Oliver( a younger black male) "Well, Senators, through this economic crisis, most of the people that I know have had a difficult time. And through this bailout package, I was wondering what it is that's going to actually help those people out."
First McCain says "But you know, one of the real catalysts, really the match that lit this fire was Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. I'll bet you, you may never even have heard of them before this crisis."
then in the same answer follows it up with this "So this rescue package means that we will stabilize markets, we will shore up these institutions. But it's not enough. That's why we're going to have to go out into the housing market and we're going to have to buy up these bad loans and we're going to have to stabilize home values, and that way, Americans, like Alan ( the white guy sitting across the room), can realize the American dream and stay in their home."
Now I don't know Oliver, but I do know he was interested enough in politics and not only invited to attend the debate but was picked to ask his own question about the bail out. And I will admit I didn't ride my families coattails through the Naval Academy, so I am not as educated as John McCain...But I would have guessed, in that same situation, dude probably had heard of Fannie Mae. And I bet he might even have an American dream he wants realized.
I'm just sayin...

What GOP Barbie is selling?
By her own comparison, even though she never actually explained it completely, she is more qualified than John McCain to be President. Good job keeping the state with more reindeer than people under control.
insert catchy sound bite and applause line here...
So far it has been full of words but she has really said nothing.
U.S.A., U.S.A., U.S.A. more applause
Republicans kill me with there themed outfits for each delegation, what a grassrootsy touch.
So are any of you buying into this crap? I'll still be your friend , I'll just say my friend is a moron.

From Elizabeth Benjamin N.Y. Daily News
Palin On Ethics Investigation, Unproductive VP Post Sarah Palin, as it turns out, is a former beauty queen, ex- high school basketball star and onetime TV sportscaster. She's also the subject of an ethics investigation in her home state of Alaska that's connected to her firing of the state's public safety commissioner. The commissioner, Walt Monegan, alleged he had been pressure to fire a trooper who had been married to Palin's sister and split with her in an ugly divorce. The Alaska state Legislature voted last month to hire an independent investigator to probe whether Palin or anyone connected to her had pushed Monegan to fire the trooper, Mike Wooten. She inists she did nothing wrong, and says as much in this July 31 CNBC interview, during she twice employs the word "cool" - as in being governor of Alaska is a " pretty cool" job and she's "cool" with being investigated. More recently, Palin admitted some members of her staff contacted the Department of Public Safety about Wooten, who is involved in a child custody battle with the governor's sister. She said she assumed the calls were made "because of personal concern for the well-being of my family." In the same interview, Palin pans the vice president's office, saying she's unclear on what the VP actually does and suggests she's too productive for the job.

Republicans, and even in her own speech today, have been very quick to point out that Sarah Palin 's reformist credentials, with her supposed opposition to Alaska's "Bridge to Nowhere".
But how hard did she really fight the project? Not very, it seems. Here's what she told the Anchorage Daily News on October 22, 2006, during the race for the governor of Alaska.
Would you continue state funding for the proposed Knik Arm and Gravina Island bridges? "Yes. I would like to see Alaska's infrastructure projects built sooner rather than later. The window is now--while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist." So she was very much for the bridge and insisted that Alaska had to act quickly—the party of Ted Stevens and Don Young might soon lose its majority, after all. By that point, the project was endangered for reasons that had nothing to do with Palin—the bridge had become a national laughingstock, Congress had stripped away the offending earmark, shifting the money back to the state's general fund, and future federal support seemed unlikely.
Finally, on September 19, 2007, she decided to redirect funds away from the project altogether saying. "Ketchikan desires a better way to reach the airport, but the $398 million bridge is not the answer," said Governor Palin. "Despite the work of our congressional delegation, we are about $329 million short of full funding for the bridge project, and it's clear that Congress has little interest in spending any more money on a bridge between Ketchikan and Gravina Island," Governor Palin added. "Much of the public's attitude toward Alaska bridges is based on inaccurate portrayals of the projects here. But we need to focus on what we can do, rather than fight over what has happened."
Maybe I've missed something, but it sure looks like she was fine with the bridge, never had a problem with the earmarks, bristled at all the mockery, and only gave up on the project when it was clear that federal support wasn't going to happen.
Now of course Governor Palin is much more fiscally conservative , her anti-corruption instincts are fairly solid, she sold off the gubernatorial jet upon taking office, for one. But I also want to point out this little statement released by Palin's special counsel, John Katz, from March of this year for the Juneau Empire, assuring the Alaskan public that Palin was still very much in favor of earmarks, but sadly needed to scale back her requests somewhat, down to "only" 31 earmarks this year—down from 54 last year in response to "unwanted attention" from Congress and the press.
And that was in Alaska just think about what she can do in Washington D.C.
Here she is listening to Dubs address the Governors earlier this year., Makes me wonder how a first term Governor from Alaska (our 47th most populated state) gets to sit at the table with the Dubs, she must have some good connections already

Hey, red state republiCONS--don't forget before voting for McCain to ask yourself how many houses YOU own. Then ask yourself how many JOBS you have in order to pay off the mortgage and credit cards every month. Then ask yourself why you're voting for another screwed up republiCON again. Then ask yourself how tax breaks for wealthy families and oil companies actually affects your personal life, paycheck-to-paycheck no health insurance existence. then ask yourself WHY!!!!! John McCain is soaring to new heights of hypocrisy on his wife's personal jet, wearing $500 Italian loafers. He flies around the country bent on duping the public into believing he's "one of them," a regular guy who can empathize with Americans facing an overwhelming economic crush. (which McCain's top financial adviser says is all in our minds) But don't forget Obama is a world wide celebrity and that's bad so we can't vote for those...except for Ronald Reagan, Sonny Bono, Arnold Schwarzenegger you know actual celebrities that ran and were elected as republiCONS.
