 Merry Christmas Comment Graphics..
Jus' a reminder: If any uv our furiends parents iz thinkin' about adopting -- a new or another bun (or dog or cat or even a horse or other farm critter) -- di Cwismas is a perfeck time. Di year has been 'speshully hard fer lotsa peeps an' so many animals is bein given up to shelters or dumped cuz der peeps jus' cannot cope. A hard year fer hoomins means a hard year fer their critters.
If u cannot adopt, consider donatin' a little money or time to a local shelter or rescue. Mom sez it'z a 'normously fulfilling experience. Most uv us Plan B Bunneez can second dat; widout u hoomins ta help, sum uv our lives wouldha been pretty awful. Thanks fer all u peeps do fer us all year!

So, we'z askin' all our fwends to check this out:
http://www. myspace. com/zoohcorner
Our mom volunteers fer Zooh Corner -- dey is "fwends of the shelter" at da animal shelter in San Gabriel, CA, an' take care uv all da rabbits there. Just over 3 years ago, the euthanization rate at this shelter was 85% !! For 3 years, it's been a big fat ZERO, cuz uv da volunteers.
The peeps are re-buildin' da bunny area to make it safe, clean, an' more comfortable fer da buns -- and attractive to potential 'dopters. 3 uv us here at Plan B is fosters fwum SG; so are Revlon & Webster, who are part of our resident family.
PLEEEEZZ, if you can spare a coupla bucks, pleeeeeeezzz donate a little toward da building effort. Our dad designed (an' did a whole bunch of da building work on) the 12 new 3-story condos. Da buns iz also gettin' a new roof an' a clean, level floor of concrete pavers. We need to raise more funds fer a better coolin' system, tho; it gets terrible hot an' a nice bunny named Pooka died fwum da heat 2 years ago (when it was 116 in some parts of LA).
So, help -- if you can. Any amount is welcome.
Thanks much, Da Buns

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKPWzLgvgW4Our mom is planning an outreach of sorts with a local rescue. The point? To connect with the next generation of bunny "parents" -- KIDS!
We know that most rescue efforts don't try to involve kids -- they might injure us or neglect us -- but who is going to teach them if you don't? Who will make homes for adoption bunnies in the future if kids don't learn to open their hearts and take responsibility? Listen, kids influence their parents and their peers. Let's give them the information they need to make compelling arguments on our behalf.
It takes just one voice to get things started. Won't you help to speak for us?

We iz SOOOOOOOOO happy ta be home. Mom had ta feed at Bunny Luv last night an' we all got together an' looked as pitiful as we cud an' Mom let us come home!!
Now, we haz a specshul, tiny, cramped... er, uh, cozy lil pen out in da dining/living room where we iz subjeckt'd to dat noisy tv box...oops, where we can hear all da news first-hand. Harvey is still bein' a butthead to Jellybean; luckily big sis, Cinder, dominatrix of all she surveys, runs him around just ta keep him in line.
Webster iz still holdin' out fer his own, individual girlfriend. HE gets to live in da bunny room agin. NOT FAIR!... Oops, uh, hey, we dint need him anyway.
If we does okay, we dont haz to go back to camp. Yippee!! An' we weally did miss Mom an' Dad (wink, wink).

November of 2007, I became a Bridge Bunny. I wasn’t really ready to go -- I had lots of guard duty left to do. But I had a history of tummy problems; bein’ a dwarf bunny had some built-in hazards, like a not-very-efficient digestive tract.
Most bunnies with stomach upsets -- not eating (not even our favorite stuff), not pooping, not drinking -- have a condition called GI stasis. That’s when the gut (stomach & intestines) slow down and begin to shut down. Our temperature drops from the normal 101-102, we don’t want to move around because we HURT, and we can’t help ourselves. Many of us die from GI stasis --FOR NO GOOD REASON. Our peeps simply don’t know to act or wait too long!
Sometimes, it’s from bad diet. We need lots and lots of hay, only a few pellets, and a nice helping of greens everyday. We need clean water, all the time. It’s also possible for us to swallow too much hair when we groom, esp. during shedding season (heads up, that would be NOW). We swallow hair, don’t eat enough hay, don’t drink when we should, and next thing ya know -- GI slowdown or stasis.
Hoomins!! Listen up!! It’s your job, your responsibility to us to watch and act.
-- I-M-M-E-D-I-A-T-E-L-Y --.
When we don’t look right, don’t come outta our condo, don’t want that slice of banana (yeah, that DOES happen), you hoomins need to RUSH into action. A bunny can die or have to be PTS in as little as TWELVE HOURS if you don’t act. Would you rather pay a vet bill for an x-ray, fluids, and pain meds? Or pay for our tiny, pitiful little cremation? NEVER wait to take us to the vet for help -- we don’t have the time. When our mom sees peeps post dat bunny hasn’t pooped fer a couple uv days, she just goes NUTS. DO NOT WAIT!
Pleeze, pleeze!! Check your bunnies several times a day. If they are shedding, groom that dangerous hair off of them. Make sure they have poops in the litter box, and that those poops aren’t strung together like a little nasty necklace by all that hair. Keep their water clean and fresh. Feed wet veggies daily and LOTSA, LOTSA hay ta keep things moving.
These are simple things to keep your bunny with you for a LONG time.

Just so you know....(thanks to Jade & Naomi for this info):
If you think Animal Experiments are Necessary Consider The Following:
* Less than 2% of human illnesses (1.16%) are ever seen in animals. Over 98% never are.
* At least 50 drugs on the market cause cancer in lab animals. They are allowed because it is admitted that animal tests are not relevant.
* When asked if they agreed that animal experimentation can be misleading because of anatomical and physiological differences between animals and humans, 88% of doctors agreed.
* Rats are 37% effective in identifying what causes cancer in humans. Flipping a coin would be more accurate.
* According to animal tests lemon juice is deadly poison, but arsenic, hemlock and botulin are safe.
* 40% of patients suffer side effects as a result of prescription treatment.
* Over 200,000 medicines have been released most of which are now withdrawn. According to the World Health Organisation, 240 medicines are essential.
* Thousands of drugs passed safe in animals have been withdrawn or banned due to their effect on human health.
* Aspirin fails animal tests, as do digitalis (heart drug), cancer treatments, insulin (causes animal birth defects), penicillin and other safe medicines. They would be banned if results from animal experimentation were accurate.
* When the producers of thalidomide were taken to court, they were aquitted after numerous experts agreed animal tests could not be relied on for human medicine.
* At least 450 methods exist with which we can replace animal experiments.
* Morphine puts humans asleep but excites cats.
* 95% of drugs passed by animal tests are immediately disgarded as useless or dangerous to humans.
* One is six patients in hospital are there because the drug they have taken had been passed safe for us on humans after animal tests.
* Worldwide, at least 22 animals die every second in labs. In the UK one animal dies every five seconds.
* The contraceptive pill causes blood clots in humans but it had the opposite effect in dogs.
* We use aspirin for aches and pains. It causes birth defects mice, rabbits and rats.
* Researchers refused to believe that benzene could cause cancer in humans because it failed to in animal tests.
* Dogs failed to predict heart problems caused by the cardiovascular drugs encainide and flecainide, which led to an estimated 3,000 deaths in the USA.
* Heart by pass surgery was put on hold for years because it didnt work on dogs.
* If we had relied on animal tests we would still believe that humans dont need vitamin C, that smoking doesnt cause cause cancer and alcohol doesnt cause liver damage.
* It was denied for decades that asbestos caused disease in humans because it didnt in animals.
* Polio researchers were mislead for years about how we catch the disease because they had experimented on monkeys.
* As one researcher points out, the ultimate dilemma with any animal model of human disease is that it can never reflect the human situation with complete accuracy."

Current mood: thankful

We have had a weird week here at da ranch. One uv our "brother" bunnies, Harley, died in our mom's arms last Saturday. He developed GI bloat -- it's very bad an' a very fast killer. Da ER vet could only help a little an' Harley didn't make it to our reg'lar vet. We miss him very much -- we have no guard bunny now an' are a bit uneasy wid'out him.
Then, Dad's father died on Sunday after bein' very sick. Dad is sad an' harried -- his mom is not too well either an' ev'ry-bun here is worried about how to take care uv her.
Den, Mom got her wallet stolen on Monday. So, you can see it's been some sort of week.
BUT, we are still thankful for all we have an' da love uv our Mom an' Dad an' Aunt Joan an' all our fwends. So, happy Thanksgiving to all uv you!!
