11/3/09
3:49pm Baltimore, MD time

I'm sorry to report that the next week of Get Up Kids shows, starting at the 9:30 Club in DC tonight, will be semi-acoustic due to our drummer Mike getting real sick and having to leave the tour to rest and heal up.

We hope to have him back for the last week or so, and will keep you posted.

We wish Mike a speedy and full recovery and promise to do our best to get the songs across as impactfully as possible in his absence.

Thanks,
Kevin

Just two quick announcements:

We're thrilled to join BRAND NEW, GLASSJAW, THRICE, MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA, and BRIAN BONZ, I AM THE AVALANCHE, and ROBBERS November 28th at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island.  Huge, surreal, monstrous experience and we're grateful to be involved.

Also, from the totally weird but totally welcome and 100% true files: we've been asked to take part in an annual gathering thrown by and featuring MATISYAHU (yes, the Hasidic reggae star), titled the FESTIVAL OF LIGHT 2009. We'll be performing together at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn December 20th.

From Matisyahu:

"There is a fan club pre-sale that starts tomorrow, 10/22 at 10am and goes until 11am on 10/23. The password is FOL2009. Please feel free to pass along to your fans for advance tickets."

Check out KD and Strand performing "Another Bag Of Bones" live from a pink couch in Clinton Hill - If You Make It.  (http://www.ifyoumakeit.com/video/kevin-devine/another-bag-of-bones/)

Big burly "we're back at it" post forthcoming.  Laying low otherwise during this time home, side-gigging, farmer's-marketing, small-business-running, wedding-attending, 5K-running, busy living.

I will point out that "Brother's Blood" is getting released in Europe on November 6th through the wonderful German punk rock label Arctic Rodeo, and in that same time frame, we can also expect the international and domestic 2xLP vinyl release of the record via Brooklyn's Academy Fight Song.  We've got a lot in store, release and tour wise, between leaving for GET UP KIDS in a few weeks and, oh, mid-2010.  Keep the eyes open.

Take care and enjoy the coming fall,
Kevin
